This place is great. The museum has some cool and interesting things. Children and adults all will have something to their liking and will definitely have a good time. It is recommended that tickets be bought online beforehand to avoid last minute chaos. For those wondering, the tickets are free! There are cafes if you need refreshments and of course pay a visit to the gift/souvenirs shop for some cool memorabilia. You will easily spend 2 hours or more so be prepared and make your plans accordingly. Have a good time!

Located in the heart of London, the Science Museum stands as a beacon of knowledge and discovery, captivating visitors with its vast array of exhibits and interactive displays. As I embarked on my exploration of this renowned institution, I was immersed in a world of scientific marvels and engrossing educational experiences.

The science museum is completely free, accessible, educational and child friendly. It is huge and such a wonderful experience. I have gone several times and it never stops being interesting. Their changing exhibits are really interesting. If you are in London please please visit. The exhibits are explained so well and it is such an interesting place to visit. The new covid 19 exhibit was really useful for my assignment. The imax was really fun !! We all really enjoyed the insane visuals.

Great place to visit with kids! The ground floor is about space exploration and some old machines. There is a floor about medical science. Another one for math and science. One for the digital age and telecommunication and the last one about flying machines. My kids loved it! It is easy to spend at least 4 hours there. Entry is free but it is useful to book the visit in advance, if it is full they will not take walk in visit. The cafeteria have good food and the ice cream in the top floor is very good!

This was an interesting visit. I enjoyed all of it, especially the space exhibition. I can really recommend booking in advance to skip the queue. And like most of the museums in London it’s totally free! I booked my ticket 30 min before arrival.

Great museum to go! The museum is huge and has lots to see! The space section is great! We joined a free tour of the airplane history and the guide is very detailed and knowledgeable! Even the food is great from the cafeteria inside the museum. There are many snack bars and areas on every floor. In addition, there are fun games for the kids to play so bring your children along and they will have a great time!

Booked tickets in advance for 2 adults & 2 children. Spent the first hour wandering around then headed to the IMAX for the underwater experience at 1100. It was amazing. Spent another hour looking at the space exhibits & the aircraft. Kids were tired so we grabbed a snack. £2.65 for a cookie & £2.45 for a diet Coke is disgraceful. Bring your own lunch!!!!! Great exhibition and well worth a visit. Donations are appreciated but not compulsory.

This is one of the perks of London, excellent free museum for all ages but especially for kids. Reservation is necessary but you might be able to book on the same day depending on the season. Donations are welcomed but you can also spend your money in the different paid exhibitions inside, cafes, shops, ... It gets busy but is so big that it feels ok. Next to other 2 free must visit museums ...

Sadly this museum will always live under the shadow of its big brothers (V&A, Natural History Museum). Even on TripAdvisor its rated below the tacky touristy Madame Tussad so it's safer to use the overused word ''underrated'' for it. It is bit smaller in size than the other two but still you need a whole day to explore. Most people use the club crawl method and binge visit all three in one go which is plain wrong. The best way is to visit it on a separate day unless you're in town for short period than you're allowed to go nuts. The highlight to me is the space section which might be the most complex subject out there but the whole info is displayed in a very simple and easy to understand way even for a dummy like me.

Fun, educational and certainly a visit you won't forget in a hurry. The myriad levels of things to see and do are sometimes staggering and you won't be bored by everything that you see. Being a science fanatic, I absolutely loved my time here and even the gift shop has some decently priced things - especially the books! I don't even need to recommend the museum as the reviews here speak for themselves.

It's funny how I came here expecting to wrap it up in a few moments and ended up spending a solid 5 hours going through the museum and pretty sure left because I was exhausted and hungry and not because I was done. Easily one of the best space and astronomical collection ever.

Historic or futuristic? The Science Museum, founded in 1857, is one of the largest in its category in the world. The museum stems (in)directly from the Great Exhibition of 1851, and was linked to the Victoria & Albert Museum until 1909. The impressive and very interesting collection is presented in an interactive way that is attractive to both young and old. Science in all forms of the past three centuries is presented here on the basis of a number of themes. One of the most interesting museums in London!

It was an amazing experience. The WoWs came one after the other with the speed of a sub machine gun firing. It offers a captivating blend of entertainment and education. Its diverse exhibits, interactive displays, and commitment to showcasing scientific advancements make it a must-visit. Despite occasional crowds, the museum provides a stimulating journey through the evolution of science, making it a top choice for curious minds.

Free entry and a great variety of subjects to explore. Objects are very nicely/thoughtfully displayed: lots of things to look at without being overwhelming. I only took a star off because the bathrooms were pretty gross when I visited. You could smell them before you saw them.

Really cool museum. Lots to see on the 4 floors - the entire experience takes you through different industrial eras. Would recommend to plan to spend at least 3 hours in order to have enough time to walk around and see most of the exhibitions. 😊

Great museum! Very interesting things to see. You definitely need more than 2 and a half hours, and I am referring to the free view, not the special exhibitions. Also IMAX is brilliant. Just seen a 3D movie about Antarctica.

The science museum has been on the radar for a while - I had been a few times before I had kids, but didn't fancy taking them when too young. I guess I remember the place with rose-tinted glasses as I remember there being far more hands on activities. To be fair, on our visit there was hands on activities but a lot of them are now chargeable activities - and on our visit we were trying to do it on a bit of a budget! Our visit coincided with half term week so we booked tickets online (free) which gives you a timeslot for entry. When you arrive at the museum you need the QR code for entry. The museum gets very busy, as you would imagine it would - particularly on the ground floor. We found it much quieter higher up the building. The museum ranges over a few floors, including a basement that has an area for the very little people in your family. We stayed at the museum for about 2.5 hours, and we made it pretty much round the whole museum (apart from any paid activities). I think, to be honest, it was a little too much for the small people, but they certainly enjoyed elements of the visit. If we was to go again I would be tempted with some of the paid activities. In terms of facilities, there was loos, lockers area, cafes, shops etc. Whilst I was perhaps a bit disappointed that it wasn't quite what I remembered - we really enjoyed ourselves.!

The museum is free but i booked tickets online the night before so that we could skip the lines but there were no lines when we got there. But, i would still order tickets just to be sure. The museum was really cool, the space display was based right as you come into the museum... good displays, informative captions... we went on a Wednesday, most of the people were school-age children but enjoyable once getting past their enthusiastic intrusions

Such a fun and interesting day! There is SO much to see here no matter what your interests are. I loved the space exhibition so much. If you are a fan of the space and the universe then you have to come see the exhibition, it is the best! Even if you are not into space, I highly recommend coming here. There is so much to learn about all sorts of topics. There is a huge room about planes and flight which is very impressive. They have life sized planes of all different types including war planes. There is also a cross section of a Boeing 747 which was so interesting. Every section of the museum is great and you learn so much from coming here. The staff here are nice and friendly and are always happy to help you. There are public bathrooms and food outlets all over the museum . Admission is free and I highly recommend coming here.

This was an amazing Museum and free too, you can make a donation if you like. This place had so many wonders to grab your curiosity and open your eyes to scientific inventions that have help shape our World. The space zone was incredible, especially the piece of Moon Rock, and the moon landing display. This is a great place for all ages. The gift store is reasonably priced, for simple to expensive gifts. A really fun place to visit.

An absolutely amazing day out. Fun for all the family. We originally planned it for our 6 year old but we had just as much fun. The Wonder Lab is a must and so worth it. The staff there are absolutely brilliant and are so wonderful with children. Their passion for science can clearly be seen as well as their ability to explain and teach to children of all ages. The staff are also working tirelessly to keep all the interactive areas as clean as possible and the puzzles and games are cleaned and rotated with new clean pieces Regularly. And absolutely brilliant place we will be visiting again and again.

Interesting place although I think there could be more interactive exhibits. The vast majority of exhibits are historical pieces that won't necessarily get people, particularly younger people excited in the world of science. That said, there is an area for children's activity on the basement floor of the building. It's a shame that many of the exhibits were not available but I think this is probably due to covid restrictions. Other than that the facilities are very good although perhaps more signage is needed to save trips up and down the stairs when exploring (lifts are available but often busy).

Oh dear. I'm not sure what has happened to the science museum but none of the changes since my last visit many years ago have been positive from my perspective. Options for interaction with the exhibits are minimal. We found nothing to excite our children of 6 and 14, and precious little for the grown-ups, all of the group intelligent professional people. The layout of the museum sections is poor, and the exhibits are presented in a dry, dull fashion, many from strange and quite unscientific standpoints. I was hugely disappointed to find myself looking forward to leaving after wandering, uninspired, from floor to floor for a couple of hours. We tried the science fiction experience, which cost us some £69 for our party of four adults and three children, and came out of it bored and unmoved. Something fundamental needs to be done to turn this place around. No wonder the queues for the natural history museum next door were so much longer.

A great museum even for younger children. Mine is only 3 but still enjoyed seeing rockets and airplanes. The Wonderlab has interactive exhibits, and even if it's recommended for older kids and my little one isn't exactly learning wavelengths or constructive/destructive wave interference, it is still something visually stimulating - she definitely wasn't bored! The planet exhibit in the space section is also very captivating for younger ones. My parent tip: the V&A museum across the street has a stunning garden courtyard that is very nice for smaller children if it is too windy for the park, a garden cafe with seating, and an excellent collection of sculpture and artifacts for grown ups if they've fallen asleep in the pushchair.

An all time favourite with me and like many museums in London it was free but you can donate. It must cost a fortune to run these on a daily basis. I’m so pleased England provides these for us to enjoy and keep history alive. There is so much to see and enjoy, from early machinery inventions to space ships. It’s a great place to spend a couple of hours or more and next to the Natural History Museum. Way too much stuff to photograph

Spent a rainy afternoon here and it was a lot of fun. It's 4 floors with a variety of exhibits that range from medicine to many types of engineering, mathematics, space, and steam power. I was able to get through all 4 floors in about 4.5 hrs including a break for lunch. In a few of the exhibits they had an elevated pathway that helps you see the stuff on display from a different, higher perspective. They had a special exhibit on COVID-19: the virus, the vaccine, and the distribution of it. It was pretty interesting. Admission is free with a suggested donation. I walked right in, even without advanced tickets, although the ability to book tickets ahead of time is very handy. The museum shop is pretty good size with lots of science-related games and kits. I did come on a Sunday so I should have expected it but, a word of caution to others visiting by themselves: there were a lot of kids everywhere. I think during the week it might not be so crazy.

A great collection of items that have played their part in our engineering and scientific progression. We learnt so much and it's free! Don't forget to book your tickets though, I was lucky we went on a Friday afternoon and tickets were readily available to cover my mistake! A great space to explore with my 12 yo and 7 yo. I've always enjoyed bringing them both 'The Garden' in the basement of the building when they were preschoolers. Looking at the space craft that Tim Peak travelled in was humbling and very interesting. Also seeing how domestic technology has changed though the decades was eye opening for the kids. It definitely opened their minds and got them thinking as designers and engineers. We didn't pay for any of the exhibitions on this occasion, though my kids were keen to go into the video game exhibition! The picnic space on the top floor is a good size but after several schools had visited it was pretty messy - I felt the cleaners needed to be a little more on top of it. Toilets throughout the building - no queues when we attended during term time. A great afternoon out in central London.

Good educational day out for the kids. Interesting pieces within the museum. Does take a few hours to get round, best to plan a trip as can be busy. Certain exhibitions cost money which is a shame. Could do with some new exhibits to attract a new audience. Great location as there are several museums nearby. Easy to get to via underground.

We had a lovely time at the science museum. Staff were friendly. The whole day was good only thing that let it down was the fact it wasn't as interactive as we had thought. Loved seeing the black arrow rocket my Dad use to work on and talk about all the time. Amazing exhibition... remember to look up. There many things you can miss hanging from the ceilings. Smaller quieter cafe 3rd floor for sandwiches coffees and ice cream. Was expecting the exhibits to be more interactive for the kids and some of the displays are starting to look a little run down. But lots to see.

Really enjoyed my visit here, it caters for all and doesn't feel overcrowded even when visiting when sold out of tickets. The museum houses some fantastic prices in British industry history with clear layer out information boards. The medical part of the museum is also fantastic to have a look around, well curated and makes for an enjoyable experience to either just walk through or to take time soaking it all in. It's nice to have access to so much for free and you don't feel like your missing out on the paid exhibitions there feels just as much effort put into the open to all areas as I imagine the paid areas are like. There's areas aimed for kids so it's nice to not constantly be battling around running screaming kids all the way through! It's in a great location next to the natural history museum and opposite the V&A. Also there's plenty of facilities, although it's very easy to become lost on knowing how to get to different floors and sides of the museum.

That is what I really love. Huge science museum, excellent exhibition. If you are willing to view all the details and all the materials you will require a couple if days to spend here. It is really huge, with a lot if amazing exhibitions covering almost all areas of science. Highly recommend to participate. And you will find good facilities inside, toilets, beverages and snacks, so no problem to spend whole day. As of me it is a bit more expensive, than expected, but no regrets, it is worth it. Thank to the people who keep this place so interesting!

The science museum is an interesting and free museum close to Hyde Park. It has 4 different floors and lot of interactive screens. The science museum is epic in all proportions. There are four levels and each level could take you an entire day to discover. Really I'm speechless. It houses industrial steam houses to rockets. It has tools and personal instruments of Isaac Newton to James Watt which could be absorbed for hours. This history of human invention distilled into one breathtaking museum.

Brilliant staff that added to the fun too. The cafe outside didn’t have much choice for lunch but there are lots of other cafes in the building that have more options. The ice cream & milkshakes were great though!

Fantastic place for both kids and adults. There's always queues, but if you book ahead of time, you'll just walk right in. They have a few exhibitions that can be booked at a fee. We enjoyed the voyage to the end of imagination. You'll end up walking around for hours as there's a lot to explore.

There’s such a variety of information but I especially enjoyed the medicine section. Lots of interactive activities also around the museum in every section accommodating to all different learning styles. Cafes, the ice cream bar and seating areas are spacious also so you will definitely have somewhere to sit and take a lunch break if needed! A must visit for all ages!

Plenty of great exhibits to see and an impressive play area for kids on the bottom floor with a water tray, building blocks, soft play and much more. You have to make sure that you get in the correct lift though as its only accessible from one part of the museum.

Came here for the Science Fiction exhibition. Could easily spend a full day here (even as an adult)! Really interactive place for children, and a great launchpad to get them interested in Science and Engineering. If you can, come for the guided tour. Visit the store (as well as the café). Fun for all! Tip: Book general entry tickets in advance (it's free and they won't let you in without one).

Exciting to explore and learn more. The kids were so happy and intrigued walking around and learning. Perfect family outing it was.All you need is to pre book tickets online for entry. Inside you can purchase other tickets. There's a shop to buy stuff before you exit. Overall wonderful experience

I absolutely loved this place! The fact you can visit a museum like this for free still amazes me, and the whole family loved the visit. You're probably best booking tickets in advance, but if you don't, you can quickly get some using a QR code on your phone from just outside the entrance. The museum is huge, with 3 massive floors of exhibits. You could easily spend a whole day here if you wanted to. Highlights for me were the space and aviation exhibits, which were fascinating. There was a whole section of paraphernalia from the 80s and 90s which not only hit all my nostalgia buttons, but I got to show the kids how different things were growing up 30-40 years ago. There is a reasonably priced and decent eating area and a huge gift shop for souvenirs. I'll definitely visit again when I can.

This place definitely needs to be visited, whether you are a kid or an adult. You will find here lovely science objects, people, and an interactive way of understanding these objects and how they were invented, developed, or perfected. The last time I was here, it happened more than 10 years ago. I can definitely say that they were adding new things and the museum is also concentrated on future technologies too!

A must visit for everyone who likes science. A great place to spend with kids and educate them. Lovely exhibits with great information. IMAX 3D space move is a must and an amazing experience. There is a shop and play area for kids for a charge. Entry is free. However, booking a ticket in advance is advisable to avoid long queues. I would recommend using a locker facility to avoid carrying jackets and bags.

It is the best place for kid to spend a day there. A lot of stuff to keep them busy and entertained. There are 3 different floors you can explore. We walked in on a Saturday morning and there was no queue. Ah there is one thing You have to stay close to your buggy all the time. You cannot even put it 5 meters away from you otherwise there will be someone to INVESTIGATE it.

Absolutely fantastic place to learn and have fun! So many interesting exhibits, fantastic 360° controllable flight simulators which I would highly recommend (my favourite part), overall it's a great day out. And in the end, if it's really not your thing, there's the Natural History Museum next door which is just as fantastic as this.

Incredibly interesting museum to visit, we started on the 3rd floor and worked through systematically to the 1st floor so we where able to see everything. There is a whole lot of interactive shows in 3D that are about £5 a ticket. Kids over the age of 12 years would be well suited to visit. The museum also has a large cafeteria or eating area. Easily accessible underground near by with lots of places to visit around the museum after you have finished. I would suggest 3 hours to be spent here, an hour of each of the 3 floors.

An invention is a unique or novel device, method, composition or process. The invention process is a process within an overall engineering and product development process. It may be an improvement upon a machine or product or a new process for creating an object or a result. An invention that achieves a completely unique function or result may be a radical breakthrough. Such works are novel and not obvious to others skilled in the same field. An inventor may be taking a big step toward success or failure.

Was unusually quite when we visited, an amazing free attraction in London and when quite you can do it all under 2 hours, be sure to visit the second floor aviation gallery, there is a cut out of a Boeing 747 so you can see the Internal structure different layers. The fresh modern, dark feel of the museum also makes it a very unique place to visit.

  • 3/5 Peter M. 4 years ago on Google
I've visited the Science museum numerous times over the last 45 years. It's an interesting enough place to go, but a great deal of actual science and technology has gone and been replaced by shopping and attempt s to jazz the place up. When I first went, there were lots of working engineering models, most have gone; there was a large gallery devoted to chemistry and laboratory science, that's gone; there was an utterly captivating aviation gallery on the top floor, gone. The Welcome gallery is devoted to medicine, but centres on public health rather than scientific research. But hey, you can buy a child's astronaut suit, so what's not to like.

The bodies and medicine gallery is fascinating. Other displays are lacking demonstrations of basic principles of science (they assume a lots of knowledge first), need more interactive features (especially in Air), and need more places to sit in Air. Social distancing was poorly managed...one way system did not flow well and were not enforced. There seemed too many people allowed in, compared to other museums in London in the same week.

I was in London on business and didn't have much time for sightseeing. I was lucky that our hotel was within walking distance of the museum. My goal was simple: I wanted to see the Apollo 10 command module, the only Apollo spacecraft on permanent display outside the US. I hiked over for a quick visit late one afternoon. Veni, vidi, vici. Oh, and they have a lot of other cool stuff. Next time I'll stay longer.

Great place to take kids at different ages.Book an entry ticket in advance for them to keep numbers to a constant flow. Cafe available as well as picnic zone area. Plenty for different children to see and understand right from toddler to adult level. Always something interesting to find out. Additional exhibitions available throughout the year and can be purchased either in advance or if available at the science museum. Book exhibitions in advance to avoid disappointment and the annual passes work out better for additional visits at a fraction of the cost. They can be purchased onsite before 5pm depending if you felt your child enjoyed the experience for return visits.

The Science Museum was founded in 1857 and hands down, it’s one of the most comprehensive, and entertaining museums in London. An interesting attraction are simulators, e.g. fighter planes (additionally payable). ☎️ A whole day of exploring and learning while having fun. Great presentations - there will also be something for history lovers. (Translated by Google) Anyone who brings a healthy dose of scientific curiosity will come into its own in this museum. The topics range from inventions from ancient civilizations to scientific enlightenment in the Middle Ages to the most modern inventions of the computer age. The entrance fee is more than adequate and will not diminish the pleasure of the museum. The only resource you can not have enough of is time. A special highlight during my visit was the "Web-Lab" from Google, which was set up in the basement area.

Although the museum is temporarily closed due to covid, the online shop is still available with a selection of items for science fans. Some things are a bit expensive, but there was a small number of items in a sale and delivery was very quick.

The Science Museum is a major museum on Exhibition Road in South Kensington, London. It was founded in 1857 and today is one of the city's major tourist attractions, attracting 3.3 million visitors annually.Like other publicly funded national museums in the United Kingdom, the Science Museum does not charge visitors for admission, although visitors are asked for a donation if they are able. Temporary exhibitions may incur an admission fee. It is part of the Science Museum group, having merged with the museum of science and industry in 2012.

Quite fun, not just for kids although some unfinished areas. There's been a lot of changes over the years with newer exhibits. The attempts at interactive displays have been nice but more needs to be done. The new rides are amazing, definitely try Fly 360°! Covid rules should mean more is open yet they refuse to allow simple touch screen exhibits to operate, despite hand sanitizer stations and face masks being present.

Not as interactive as I had hoped it would be, especially seeing as I was hoping my son could do more hands on stuff. We did pay to enter the wonderlab which was incredible, I'd suggest booking an early slot so you could watch a couple of shows maybe, lots to do in there. Just a shame there wasn't more around the museum without paying extra for the kids to enjoy science

Great Free Day out for The whole Family something for all ages from Space travel to The 1st actual models of!Flying machines very modern outlay and loads of space to keep distance while viewing the exhibits nice and cool too easy to find your way round plenty of toilets and baby changing facilities, Dining areas are well organised and very clean. Definitely recommended

Really interesting exhibitions and well thought out layout. My grandson and I had a really good experience and we still haven't seen and participated in everything they have to offer so we will be going back again and I am sure that we will be just as happy again. Entry is free but you can give a donation as we did this helps with the upkeep. There is plenty of dinning areas and toilet facilities that were clean and tidy.

An amazing place took me boy, we were in there for over 4 hours still didn't get to see it all because of how big the place is and how much stuff they have in there. From trains to original space shuttles, They even have an iron lung. The history behind the science is amazing, it is great day out for the family you won't be disappointed

Great day out. Spent circa 4hrs with 2 preschoolers. Pleased we booked the garden & making patterns (both fully booked). I was a little disappointed EEG wasn't labelled along with other things. Would've given 5 stars except a number of areas required maintenance/closed

  • 5/5 Howard S. 2 years ago on Google
Great place, lots to look at for free. The extra exhibitions which cost more are also very good. The wonder lab is great for kids of most ages (3 and up). Do book the extras like the wonder lab and kids garden well in advance as they book out weeks in advance. However, when you are there it is worth double checking availability as there are spots that become available on the day.

The Science Museum is a fascinating place to visit. There's plenty to suit all ages, including a lot of interactive things and such a wide variety of topics from space, to medicine, and the history of technology in the home. We had to book a time slot and, sadly, the earliest one available was after 3pm, which meant that we couldn't see everything. You could easily spend the entire day here. I can't wait to go back again.

Last visited around 15 years ago & the cornerstone exhibits are still largely the same so no surprise there, not that I’m complaining. What is annoying about this place is the amount of stuff that is off limits because of extra charging. I’d honestly prefer it if they just charged an entrance fee. Another annoyance was the Covid restrictions on lifts and stairs and directions coupled with the fact the building is in effect in two connected buildings - this meant getting from your chosen point A to your chosen point B was frequently frustrating & infuriating & made the museum difficult to get around imho.

We got in at the time we booked. The process of getting in and scanning was simple enough and then your left to your own to do what you want. We decided to start from the top and work our way down. Do check out the lab, you do have to pay for entrance but remember entrance to the museum is free so there's no need to complain. My son had such a fun time in the lab, trying out the the gadgets and so did my husband and I 😁

Beautiful museum inside, lots to explore there were mesmerised 3D projection of planets, pattern pod was a good activity. We enjoyed 3D IMAX Antarctica. Finished off with RAF 3d red arrows. It houses industrial steam houses to rockets. It has tools and personal instruments of Isaac Newton to James Watt which could be absorbed for hours. This history of human invention distilled into one breathtaking museum.

Visited some Fridays ago when it was peaceful and sucked up every word on the 'Medicine' floor... didn't even make it to the 'space' section. You'll need more than one visit to this incredible museum

  • 5/5 Matthew 2 years ago on Google
There's so much to see and do here! If you want to look at all the exhibits in detail you'd need a whole day and even then you might be pushing it! There's lots of interesting information to read and exhibits to see on a wide variety of topics, the highlights were certainly the making the modern world gallery which had countless different interesting objects on display; the medicine galleries covered all aspects of medicine and a bit of its history very well; and the gallery on communications was also very extensive and told in great detail about all aspects of communication from telegraph to satellite. There's also lots of interactive displays if you have children. The only slight complaint I have is it felt extremely busy on my visit and it was quite difficult to read all the information on the displays with all the children running around, however, this is probably just my fault for visiting at half term; would definitely recommend visiting in term time if you can.

An interesting visit to the Science museum to visit the Ancient Greek exhibition and the to the IMAX Cinema to way h the 3D Hubble Film. The Ancient Greek exhibition was rather disappointing as there were very few exhibits probably designed for children and teenagers. Lots of interesting exhibits and interactive features. Great place to spend an afternoon and especially to take kids.

Certain parts of the museum were great but we found it wasn't signposted very well as you walked around and the 2 sets of stairs either side of the lift made it very confusing. £7 for 2 waters as I couldn't see anywhere we could refill our bottles I thought was quite steep although we could keep the bottles they came in. My children loved the space section but unfortunately the interactive area upstairs was mainly not working.

Free to get in. My 5 year old loved the whole thing. Fun interactive area with virtual reality of a flood. Pattern Pod is great fun for the under 8's. The space area was our favorite with shuttles, globes, astronauts and a real piece of the moon!

  • 5/5 Donatella M. 1 year ago on Google
This place was amazing! Everything was well cured and divided in sections. Maps are really useful if you want to visit specific area first. Each item is well explained, and located in a specific timeline. I loved to learn the story of the object and the contemporary scenario in which it was used or built. The necessity behind each item and the reason why new discoveries were made necessary was interesting too. There are also interactive exposition, so it is really fun learning experiencing with you own hands. It took me two days to explore everything as I wanted, but I think that it is possible to have a quick look in one day, stopping for longer time only in those sections in which you're more interested in. This is a great place to bring your kids! There are a lot of fun stories and everything is fascinating. The free entry is a plus, of course.

  • 4/5 Yousif A. 1 year ago on Google
Thoughts: this museum is very interesting as it tells the story of innovation and evolution of human technology through the years. For someone who was born in the 80s, it was very nostalgic to see the technology of that era once again. The flight section in particular was too much fun for me. Expect a crowded experience with too many kids around. Time: around 2.5 to 3 hours Children: among all other museum, this is the most suitable for children as there is a full section of interactive games and virtual reality experience.

  • 5/5 Phil J. 1 year ago on Google
I haven't visited since I was a child so only had vague recollections of what to expect. Today I took my soon to be three-year old for his first visit. It's fair to say we both had a really enjoyable 2.5 hours. We would have stayed longer but I knew my son was running on fumes. So much so, he fell asleep straight away when we got on the bus back to Victoria! My son especially liked the 'garden' in the basement, the pattern pod, the making of the modern world and space exhibitions. To be fair he liked all of it, although perhaps not overly interested in the information age on the top floor. To be honest that was towards the end of our visit so likely was the reason why. The whole experience is superb. Interesting, engaging and educational. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit, will be back soon.

It was very fascinating and interesting, there is something for every curious person to find. Best if you bring a lot of time and patience, if you are not alone, either way a great museum and worth a visit. There are different kind of expositions all across different scientific topics. And the information is presented in a very well thought out way. I'd recommend it and visit again next time because for me time and brain capacity were too limited to enjoy the whole museum :) Probably it s best to go early and not on weekends because there can be a lot of people.

Brilliant the technology displayed through time and the covid display injecting the future was just brilliant. I really enjoyed it here It's great for families too. The content and presentation feels much lighter than its parent Victoria and Albert and is much more oriented towards kids and families, but is still a great way to learn about space exploration, communications, and the evolution of technology. Also a must see for any computer science student as there are two versions of Charles Babbage's analytical machine present.

This museum is a must if you are in London. I recommend buying the tickets online before coming there. It takes like 5 minutes and they are for free. The place is enormous with big halls and objects from all periods. A beautiful insight into human science. I really loved the giant Cinema screen with 3D movies. Fun experience.

Overall I like the idea, that the museum gets a chance to visit for free and leaves a freewill option to support the museum as much as you wish. Museum is big and if you wish to discover it all you will need a full day. Or you can visit a specific hall of your interest. There are a few places of interactive expos. Lab interactive space if chargeable, you can explore everything, there are staff or explainers and many shows to understand more about electricity, maths and more. Also a nice shop to buy the toys and accessories which inspired the most.

Hadn't even considered visiting this place as embarrassingly I wasn't familiar with it at all. On a trip to London with my teenage sons, it was suggested we visit on a day we had open. I am so thankful for that suggestion. This place is filled with thousands of marvels of physical science and technology. Words can't do it justice. Highly recommended and we are looking forward to returning.

Really good! Mornings are quieter and it gets really busy as the day goes on. Weirdly the exhibits get quieter as you go up the floors. But the content is great. Red arrows where ok although the simulator’s are out of this world. Added some photos to show some of the cool bits.

A fantastic museum dedicated to all things related to science and technology - appropriately located next door to Imperial College London. For me a 10/10 rating. So many fascinating things to see and experience. Free entry - best to book in advance to ensure smooth entry - there is a high daily demand to get in. There are optional payable experiences that change from time to time. Multiple floors of fun and knowledge. There are 30-45 minute tours by speakers at set times - do not miss these. The expert speakers add a depth of personal knowledge that pulls you into the story behind the item/topic. We managed to attend the Space and General tours - both speakers excellent. Sadly did not catch the name of the lady who spoke about Space - she was inspiring. The other speaker was Joe - a shout out to Joe for being so captivating.

Visited with two teenage girls who enjoyed being there. Fantastic space and flight departments. Free entry which is amazing. Clean toilets. Covered 4 floors and was very engaging. Disappointed slightly about how many tickets you had to purchase to visit or take part in certain activities. Although we did enjoy flying in the typhoon simulator!! Food and drink available on almost every floor. Still would re ommend this place but I would also include visiting the natural history museum on the same day.

Very informative to kids of young age. there is a lot of attention to detail. all sections are well-spread out and well-marked. Movie show (we saw 45 minute "a beautiful planet") is thrilling, with IMAX 3D providing excellent experience! Recommend to pick the free map of the museum, after security check. It helps immensely to know the sections. Definitely must-visit place in London!

A great place to bring the kids and for them to learn, but if you want to experience the fun interactive areas you need to book tickets, £12 per adult, £10 for children (free under 3yr olds). Went on a Monday in half term, 11am and there was no queue to get in. When we left it was pretty packed inside. Lots of toilets available throughout (the less busy ones were located on mezzanines on the stairwell). Cafe spaces were big (especially on 3rd floor) and you could bring your own food to eat (there was no problem bringing in a cooler bag with sandwiches).

We went as part of a day trip to London and one of the appealing things about the Science Museum is that it is free entry. You do have to register to get access to this place however that can be done either in person or online. We opted to go for the in-person as we had a group of people but once we were registered we were able to visit my partner and I decided to go downstairs first to the locker to store our bags and this was a good price. We then got free reins to explore the place but I just felt this was more of a gallery as there weren't many things you could interact with however I do suspect that the exhibitions in there that did cost money were where the fun side was however we had an okay time and the cafe here was nice just a little pricy. The toilets here are very good too and there is the choice of using the stairs or the elevator to get to your desired floor.

An excellent place to learn about the history of engineering, science and technology. Many amazing and historical exhibits. The Science Museum is a place one can visit again and again; each time one will find something new and exciting. I would recommend a visit on a normal weekday if possible, in order to enjoy the exhibits to the full. There are three very clean and pleasant catering outlets within the museum, plus places to eat your own food. Getting to the Science Museum is very straightforward. We took the Underground to South Kensington and walked from the main station entrance, although there is a subway to Exhibition Road itself, just along from the museums; a good alternative for when it's raining.

It's free entrance at this museum. Lots to see and some interactive games, as well as a few activities that you need to pay for if you choose to do it like the IMAX theatre and the gaming centre. The cafe serves good hot food, desserts and drinks. Highly recommended, especially for school-age children and older.

  • 3/5 Lanie F. 4 months ago on Google
The museum has its share of informative displays, but I was disappointed by the limited number of interactive exhibits. To make matters worse, the few interactive elements available often required additional payments, which was a bit disheartening. On the positive side, the sections that were engaging provided insightful glimpses into various scientific realms. However, the lack of hands-on experiences and the additional charges for interactive activities left me feeling kind of bummed.

Reasonable experience. We went with a couple of nine year olds and another family. You have to register to enter which seems a little unnecessary. The exhibitions themselves were interesting although more interaction would be better I think. We visited the games exhibition which was a large room full of games. Overall it is a four star experience but could be five. It could be better - the one in Stockholm is smaller and more interesting. It is worth a visit though

I've always had the opinion that museums should provide free entrance. They should not be places to make money from but more of an investment on the people visiting them. To learn and inspire. I wish all countries could provide such a service and maybe things would be better for humanity. I would suggest booking tickets in advance! It's better to spend a few minutes online than to wait in line!

This Science Museum in London is the first science museum in the world and one of the most spectacular science museums I've ever been to. From gliders to airplanes, fighter jets, and helicopters, it showed us how humans project everything we learn from birds into our imaginations and make the best out of our potential. From aircraft to aircraft, satellites, spacecraft, unmanned spacecraft, manned spacecraft, and rockets, it presents us with human beings who have never been satisfied with the height of the sky, persistent and challenging their limits, it is also the spirit of unyielding challenge, so that our science and technology can progress again, and gradually have the power to explore the universe. A close look at the Apollo 10 return capsule and the Apollo 11 lunar module replica are stunning. I missed the Winton gallery this time, so be sure to check it out next time.

Really enjoyed the museum. It had many things to do from its sensory play section for kids to its gaming station and all the different levels. The cafe was a nice spot for my little one to catch a little break. We opted for a kids' meal box, which, to my surprise, was a very good price considering the location. We spent two hours at the museum, including breaks for my daughter, and managed to fully complete two levels. My personal favourite was the flight section with all the planes and engines, and my daughter enjoyed the space section with all the lights and sensory play at the end of that floor. We hope to come back soon and discover the floors we missed. I would recommend giving yourself a good few hours to really experience the museum fully.
