Stunning RI State Park. No fee to get in. Excellent place for family picnics with several grilling areas throughout the Park to choose from. Directly on Narragansett Bay with gorgeous Ocean Views. Great place to walk or Bike, and just a short distance from the East Bay Bike Path and downtown Bristol. One of the nicest places to catch a great sunset. Highly recommended!!!

6/23 Colt State Park, Bristol RI. My opinion is that this is the best walking park on the RI bay. Plenty of free places for parking, restrooms are clean this morning and the walking paths are generously wide. Great place for outings, fishing and picnics.

11.13.21 Took our bikes on this trail and explored the park as well as the East Bay Bike Path. What's not to love about this State Park? It was free, ample parking spots for this in cars, lots to do with families, on dates, or solo. People were biking, walking, sitting in the sun. Very quiet and clean area.

Great place for many things - family outings of which they have picnic/barbecue areas that can be rented & reserved - fishing from their pier & plenty of open space for- running - biking or walking - or just a simple relaxing moments & view (anytime of uear) of the beautiful open water that surrounds ~

We visited Colt State Park on 7/3/2022. It was the Independence Day eve and it was fully packed with people out in son for picnic and get together. A beautiful summer day in the park which is nicely located at ocean / water front - who doesn’t want to be there. We also did a small family picnic outside at this place on a picnic table. There were ample green space areas out of some were camping pre booked site areas which were all full and park staff was present at those location entrance. There were ample opportunity for biking and 7 y.o fully utilized this opportunity. He couldn’t find any beach 🏖 at the area where we walked, that was near to fishing pier. But the long side walk next to ocean for walking/biking 🚶‍♀️ provides a decent experience if you have a patience to sit and relax.

Amazing waterfront park with a state beach and boat launch. There isna walking/biking trail, picnic benches and stone walkways. The sunsets here are beautiful and the people are friendly. It does however fill up quickly some weekends.

Beautiful place! My brother in law set up a family reunion for us at a lovely picnic area 25. You get 10 tables for your group and have all day to use the spot. It was so awesome we got there at 10 and stayed until sunset 🥰 the staff was very accommodating and came and checked on us a few times. Thanks for the memories

I've been going to Colt State Park for years! It's a great place to go no matter the season. There's beach, a great paved walkway running along the water. They have picnic tables and sites with built in grilles for the summer. They have events there on occasion entertainment or fundraisers. They have a boat ramp, a large recreational area with a skate park, basket ball court, outdoor street hockey and a nice playground for the little ones. A great place to get outside in the fresh air, fly a kite walk your dog, explore. They even have an outdoor chapel. You can fish and go clamming. Benches facing the water, watch a sunset or just the boats going by. There is also a bike/walking trail that goes all the way to Providence if you want to go the full length. You can stay in your car and just cruise the perimeter if you'd like and enjoy the view. I highly recommend this place for family fun or just some down time for yourself ! A true Rhode Island pride!

I need to remember that this park is near the water! Bring a sweater just in case. The sea breeze makes it great even if the high for the day is hot. Lots of picnic tables everywhere, but spread out enough so everyone has enough space. I like walking by the water and looking at the rocks, crabs, and snails. The park itself has paved pathways, great parking, picnic tables, benches and sometimes lemonade or ice cream trucks.

Beautiful! Wish people would keep it clean. The bathroom was spotless. The second time I went it, someone left their babie's diaper in there. This is a gorgeous park with bike trails and fishing pier.

Came here a alot during the summer months for family gatherings parties. Tends to be overcrowded during peak summer months, but what park with water access isn't? The sites are maintained well. The staff I've encountered are nice, professional and courteous...My kids like going to the seawall and when the tide is low, look for crustaceans 😅

Expansive, beautifully maintained, family friendly place for walking, dog walking, picnics, weddings, etc. there are restrooms and plenty of benches, trails, etc. my only complaint was the number of people not following the leashed dog LAWS since our dog got attacked (no fault of the park) (LEASH YOUR DAMN DOGS) but the park is lovely lovely lovely. We come here often.

The areas and sections of this waterside State Park in Bristol RI is very diverse in character and views. It has different moods to seek out, pathways to follow, shaded areas to tuck under, and all the sunlight you want. A favorite gathering place for groups of friends or organizations celebrating. I even conducted a couple outdoor weddings there years ago. For a time 40 years ago I was blessed to live within walking distance. Walking, running, wandering, even napping can happen between raids of your picnic basket!!

Beautiful park. We have our family reunion gathering here our third one this year after skipping the covid years. This year we left the park at dawn and I was in awe with the amount of dear I witnessed in one night just leaving the park. Caught me by surprise. Oh and the sight of the sun sets are amazingly gorgeous

Wonderful park. Definitely recommend. The view of the water is beautiful, there are nice hiking trails, an enjoyable loop to drive, and there are restroom accommodations at the park. It's free to enter. There is also a nice place to fish in the park.

Love colt state park. Very relaxing clean place to go to take a nice walk. Growing up always had family cookouts there.

  • 5/5 Carolyn B. 4 years ago on Google
Refreshing ocean breezes and scenic bike and walking paths are the highlights of this amazing park. Also, sites with grills can be rented ahead of time, many of them under trees for shade. Open grassy fields are also available for lawn games, kite flying or just running around. Visit the town beach for a minimal fee, which also has shaded picnic tables, a playground, bathrooms, and a sand volletlyball pit. A large pavillion covering several picnic tables is a fun place to rent for group events. Definitely worth the trip!

Beautiful park on the water with lots of space. Paved walking and bicycle path throughout the park, which connect to the East Bay bike path. Plenty of parking. Dirt hiking paths are also nice.

Colt State Park is a wonderful place to enjoy the outdoors! You have sweeping ocean views, tree-lined trails, and picnic benches galore. I went with family a few months back on a nice day and it was easy to both wear a mask and stay socially distant from others in the park while we were walking. The main loop trail we did took around 40 minutes or so at a leisurely walking pace so you may want to do two loops if you're looking for more exercise. If you'd prefer to bike around the trail there is plenty of space for that too, and there's even a spot where the park connects with the East Bay Bike Path if you want to head to downtown Bristol!

Hands down one of the best parks in the entire state. There’s plenty of areas to walk, tables to eat, it connects with the bike path, and views that are marvelous. The park is also huge. It’s a great place to go to for a few hours or spend the day!

My favorite state park in RI (at least so far), this park has a little bit of everything. At the north end along the bay there’s a nice, but small, town beach surrounded by a playground and a lot of sports fields. As you walk south by the water, you come across a picturesque lake, a dock, plenty of picnic tables, and a trail into the woods. Further on, there’s a barn that’s been converted into a museum, although I didn’t stop in. Great place to relax on a weekend, and it seemed like a very popular place to get professional photos taken.

Actually we were on the bike path from Warren to Bristol, we kinda went through part of it. I have been there before this place is beautiful. However it does get very busy in the summertime.

I just love looking out over the water while meditating. Also, this time of year, I get to see lots of deer up close in the park. If you admire nature, this is a great place to visit.
