Always a pleasure this museum is far from old concepts. The garden outside is marvelous and the temporary expositions are always made to think the visitor. Jean Nouvel concept of the museum with organic corridors and a circular visit path are interesting. Maybe I would prefer having more light but i understand that's made for concentrating the attention on the exposition rather than the building itself.

It's one of my favourite museums in Paris. Ideally, book your tickets online as the most probably you'll have to buy them at the machines in front of the museum. I enjoyed the temporary collections. The shop is also nice to get some gifts.

What a beautiful display of art and culture from the indigenous people around the world. I love not chasing famous spots and discovering gems like this one instead. With 12 euro tickets and people under 25 going free it’s a great place to visit for the budget traveler.

The museum's significance stems from two key aspects: its distinctive architectural design and its captivating content. The architectural design seamlessly integrates the building into its surroundings, creating a unique landscape that imparts a sense of entering an environmental oasis in the heart of Paris. As for the content, which is paramount, it resides in the wealth of artifacts representing the ancient civilizations of peoples from Asia, Oceania, Africa, and the Americas before the era of European colonialism. The museum showcases finds that were previously unknown, offering visitors a glimpse into the richness and diversity of these cultures. As a result, visitors are left feeling awestruck and humbled by the greatness and diversity of human civilization.

The Branly Museum is a museum in the French capital, Paris, near the Eiffel Tower and on the banks of the Seine, interested in primitive or elementary art.

My favourite museum. A bubble of peace in the middle of the city. We stopped in November to see the Black Indians and Kimono exhibits. Kinda wish the explanations were all translated to English and not only the curators notes. Many of the captions are only in French :( You might want to book your tickets before dropping by on weekends. We went on Tuesday - no queue at all.

What a beautiful visit! A lot of enchanting collections from all corners of the world. We went there on Friday afternoon and there was practically no queue. We bought the tickets onsite (12€ each) and found our way to the entrance. Outside was green, cool and full of trees. Inside was nicely ventilated and refreshing for visitors coming in from the hot streets. We were enchanted by the slope entrance way with projections called „the River“ which displayed on the walking surface in a form of meandering rives. These artificial rivers show numerous names (some 15,000) of people who from parts of the collections in the museum. That was our highlight not to mention many special items of fabrics, wood work, stone work, tribal objects to name a few. One can browse around slowly for at least an hour. We were searching for a painting of our Thai friend that was in display in a special exhibition here and were disappointed that it was (naturally) removed long time ago. However, we were lucky enough to have found a nearly last copy in the museum bookshop due to the excellent help of the shop assistant. Thank you so much. All in all we had an enchanting experience here and can recommend the museum wholeheartedly for a visit if you want to experience something different!

Just off the busy streets surrounding the Eiffel Tower, this beautifully designed museum first greets you with a tranquil layout of gardens and seating areas. Even if that's as far as you make it, you've already succeeded! Inside, for your viewing pleasure, is a well-curated collection of artifacts and art pieces from Africa, Asia, Oceania, and the Americas. The interior design is quite unique and a fun experience in and of itself. One nice touch are the floorplan maps found throughout, so you're never lost (or can easily find a specific region). Be prepared for a low-light environment, intended to preserve the sensitive exhibits.

It is a modern day meusum with very nice collection. Very attractive architecture. Most of the exhibits were very much interesting. Both building and inside decor is worth the admiration. Amazing place to see unique exhibits. If you have spare time in Paris, and I think you must spares, this is the place you would visit. It's on walking distance from Elysee palace. Recommend to visit both.

I visited only the garden and it blew me away. It's like a little hidden piece of wilderness in an urban surrounding. At first you see the fence on the outside that looks almost like a part of the nature, a ditch with water and reeds and than you enter the garden up a little hill and the whole new world is opening up. Utmost beautiful setting with some light sticks that gave the space unrealistic, surreal feeling. You walk across curvy paths and there are hidden little oases everywhere.

Very cool museum with tons and tons of native artifacts from all over the world. Outfits, weapons, masks, totems, statues, etc. If you're not interested in native peoples, don't come here because there is not any variety in the exhibits beyond worldly native peoples. Outside the museum there is a very nice forest/garden area with walking paths and seating as well, which is free to access.

A thrilling museum - enter through glass into quiet garden, interior architecture, gift store ceiling created en place by aboriginal artists w blessing of elders, braille inside on leather walls, incredible exhibits of contemporary art from all over but especially African American artists

  • 4/5 Marco W. 2 years ago on Google
Nice museum surrounded by a little park. The permanent exhibition is divided into four parts - Oceania, Asia, Africa and Americas - that feature glass displays with various artifacts (lots of masks), freestanding objects such as pillars and statues, and, in the middle of the room, plenty of seating opportunities with little touch displays on which you can watch some videos and read additional texts. To me personally, the oceanian part was most interesting, and the asian exhibition was, to be honest, a bit disappointing - the museum map said there would be objects from Japan, China, Siberia and India, and whilst there were plenty of objects from India (and lots from South-East Asia, especially Vietnam), there was only one small room on the side dedicated to all of Siberia, and one wall to Japan and China each - so if you want Asian art and culture, Musée Guimet on the other side of the river might be a better choice. The other parts were fine enough. Overall it is worth a visit - especially if you're undet 26, admission is free for you - though it should be mentioned that it's not an ideal destination if you're looking to take pictures of the artifacts, as all rooms are quite dark and the glass is very reflective.

Fabulous museum, probably the best I’ve ever been to. The way the curators have displayed the items is like an art show in itself, the vastness of the collections is outstanding, and the individual items are incredible works of cultural art.

Nice museum. Seemed small at first glance, but it's just organized in clever rows, spent 3+ hours here. There's several toilets available inside. Tickets are available online, but there were no queue to the ticket machines offline. Good art, rarely present in other museums.

The Quai Branly is an ethnographical museum and houses artefacts from all continents. It is particularly good concerning former french colonies - Africa, southeast Asia and the Pacific. Here you will find a collection of the highest quality - sculptures, costumes, masks, paintings etc. Highly recommended for those who have not yet visited an ethnographical museum - you will be amazed by the artistic creativity of the human spirit using only simple materials.

Probably the best museum in the world for native culture’s art. They have a very rich collection of artworks from every continent. From America to Oceania, you will find out a lot of new things about civilizations. I was particularly impressed by their collection of antique music instruments too. The museum is fairly new and the design makes it very pleasant to walk in the building. The garden is also nice.

I thoroughly enjoyed this museum but felt like it missed more explanation not only about the objects themselves, but also about their provenance. Considering France's colonial past, I would have loved to see everything put into context. The museum itself is friendly to people with reduced mobility and the exhibitions are well presented.

This was my favorite museum in Paris. It was well-organized and beautiful inside. The museum is mostly handicapped accessible, which is a rare thing in Paris. The museum houses indigenous art from countries across the world. The art is displayed with proper thought and respect. In addition to indigenous art, they had an art atelier for Vietnamese artist Dinh Q. Le, a virus and bug display, a weapons area, and an area for indigenous instruments. The museum made interesting use of projectors to display art and to give immersive experiences in different cultures' beliefs and daily life. Many exhibits had scannable QR codes which took you to a webpage giving further information about exhibits. It was also possible to get an audio tour for a little extra money. I didn't pay for this. It's just as easy to use an app to translate the information on the plaques. Some plaques were translated into English. In addition, seating is fully available throughout the whole museum. Bathrooms are easily accessible. The staff are friendly and helpful. It might be nice to have cool water available in a central location of the museum. It is larger than it looks and it became thirsty work to visit all the areas. The outside garden was beautiful. They held an event in the garden while I was there. The living wall is a site to see, housing plant species from many countries. The restaurant/cafe onsite was an overpriced waste of time. They had no food available despite the menu showing delicious dishes. They only offered cakes and cookies. These items cost twice as much as they should and were just so-so. The water clearly tasted of tap water and it wasn't cool. The juice was fresh and delicious. Paid 41 Euros for 2 juices and 3 desserts. That's the same price as a good meal somewhere else so save your money. Go somewhere else. Overall, I loved this museum!!!

So much wonderful things to see here. I spent over two hours viewing the Black Indians exhibition. It was fascinating and very informative. Then, I moved on to the section on Africa. Took a break for a quick bite to eat at the café. Such fabulous service and food. As I didn't have enough time to see all of the permanent collections, I booked a date to return in the new year to see what I missed. Oh, I'm giving myself an annual membership as a Christmas gift.

Great architecture and landscape design. I like how the approach is very smooth, and that the benches in the museum is designed with rounded smooth corners that blend into the wooden wall, which creates a warm feeling that echos the river Seine. I saw the V&A Kimono exhibition. It's such a treat! The temporary exhibition place however is a bit small and crowded.

Fantastic museum, and it's not as busy as the popular museum nearby. Book ahead of time to see the special exhibition on Kimonos. The architecture (Jean Nouvel) is just as impressive as the interior.

The museum and garden are indeed delightful, boasting a beautiful collection of artifacts. However, during my visit, I noticed a few areas that could be improved to enhance the overall experience. Firstly, many signs in the museum are only written in French, which can be challenging for international visitors. Secondly, the audio-guide provided limited information, leaving me craving more insights into the exhibits. Additionally, while there are small screens available, the way the information is presented was not very clear. As a result, the interactivity felt lacking. I had hoped that the museum would transport me back in time and offer a more immersive experience into different cultures, but I felt somewhat disconnected due to these issues. Despite that, I still believe the museum is worth a visit, especially considering the good price-quality value it offers.

You travel the different continents where numerous artefacts are at display, both ancient as very recent art works are combined. Both presentation as content is of excellent quality as only a selection of 3000 artefacts out of 300k is made. Audioguides are available as well as a tour for kids. This museum, opened by former president Jacques Chirac in 2006, is one of the best less famous museum in Paris.

A nice museum and a must see, to view artifacts from all over the world. I'm on the fence, especially with African art which should be returned to their rightful owners but these pieces are something to behold and appreciate. With that being said, the design of the museum needs a lot to be desired. It's poorly lit and the there is no structure or cohesion, compared to other museums such as the Louvre or the MET. Still worth a visit and the shop is nice too.

We found this ultra modern anthropological museum one of the most impressive we’ve visited anywhere. The collection of objects from Oceania especially is stunning. Objects are artfully displayed. The building is in itself an attraction- visually and as an experience. The visitor moves through the exhibits in a free flowing organic manner. Very impressive.

Don't like the long walk up the ramp had no idea you had to walk half the length of the building uphill to see anything. I'm also sad that the 10,000 instruments are lying there dead and stuffed into shells. They were all vibrant at one time.

The exhibition is very interesting and explains well, although I think that locating geographically and temporally (especially compared to other Mesoamerican civilizations) was very lacking. The permanent exhibition is just as enriching with pieces from regions of the world often forgotten in other museums, I will definitely return to discover everything in detail. (Translated by Google) It is a beautiful art museum and a collection from different continents (Africa, Asia, Oceania, America) Unfortunately, there are so many that we get bored quite quickly and the audio descriptions last 3mins per work art, it's really too long and very detailed. Too bad, we pick up very quickly. My husband (Irish) did not appreciate the museum and it is sadly boring. The audio tour for the children (mine are 6 and 9 years old) is fun and fairly well done, but again after 1:15, they couldn't continue and wanted to leave. A little disappointed I must admit. To visit anyway because there are some interesting things for art lovers.

Very nice surprise. The museum takes you on a trip through the primitive civilizations of all four continents. We particularly enjoyed the Oceania ones as it's something quite unheard of. It also has a beautiful and impressive garden that you can enjoy for free.

Combat ultime - very interesting if you like martial arts like our son. Child friendly, well organized, good afternoon out. This section takes about 1 1/2 hrs to go round. Didn’t do main museum, lots of restaurants and cafes around close by with view of Eiffel Tower.

  • 4/5 Manos G. 2 years ago on Google
Very interesting museum especially if you just started delving into anything non European. Very interesting oceanic and African exhibits. The museum itself could be better and the gift shop was extremely expensive.

  • 5/5 Nat L. 2 years ago on Google
Great museum with great architecture! They have a huge amount of artworks from different cultures, i love the building and the exhibitions there however the museum does still contain stolen artworks that must be sent back to their country of origin. Still a great museum worth the visit though!

  • 5/5 Henrik M. 2 years ago on Google
I though in Paris it won;t be astonishing to watch non-european works of art, and I was badly mistaken. This museum shows the culture of the nations all around the world (except Europe, I guess) and it's quite interesting: from the Easter island to Australia and Ethiopia.

  • 5/5 Moise S. 2 years ago on Google
The best place visit when your in France, Paris. Especially if you love martial arts

  • 4/5 Gérard D. 1 year ago on Google
Situated close to eiffel tower, surrounded by a "tropical" garden, you don't see much of the building itself, once you go inside it's an island of quiet, with display of objects that were used with spiritual purpose(or just daily life, like music..) Incredibly beautiful objet, in a luxury case. Items from all around the world, Asia, Africa, Oceania, North Pole, all amazing,.. The only "failing" being the glass cases have too much reflection (photo is difficult). You'll spend more than a day there, with library, restaurant...

Most atmospheric Museum in Paris! Wide and varied collection of native ( not primitive at all) Art. Savage and powerful insight into the art of the varied primordial cultures of the world. The positive and negative energies of the human condition are represented here in a condensed and intense exhibition.

an endless travel through time, history and arts around the world. The current expo ( Black Indians ) was very interesting! I spent around 2 hours for the visite but you can also take your time and spend more time there!

  • 4/5 eva c. 10 months ago on Google
Wow. I walked in without much expectation but after going in, I can see that the museum does have a valuable collection of native art from all parts of the world, like Canada, New Zealand, Africa…etc. The art motif and pattern design involved are thought provoking and really helped explain the fascination of the modern artists, most notably Picasso. It is not to be missed by any artists. Also, for most people who would not have the fortunate to visit so many countries, this museum really help shed light on the art from all over the world. A great equalizer.

Lovely museum of anthropology. Perfect to make a trip around the globe 🌍 different tribes from different ages. Mask, jewelry, tapestry, arms and more... With an exquisite garden to take a sit, rest, read a book 📚 perhaps... Remember the 1st Sunday of every month entrance it's free (without reservation)

  • 5/5 Eric 9 months ago on Google
The permanent collection isn't huge but it has a great selection of global indigenous art. Totally worth a couple hours or more to stroll around. Entry at the afternoon appointment is nice. Fewer people and students.

One of my favorites, with an extensive and very ecletic collection of ethnic pieces that we rarely see in museums, a brilliant architectural space surrounded by a "wild forest" that protects us from the hustle and bustle of the Eiffel Tower. The "Le Jaques" restaurant is a must!

  • 5/5 Michelle W. 10 months ago on Google
A museum next to La Seine with a beautiful garden (you don’t need the museum ticket if you just want to visit the garden) & a restaurant during the day + 2 cute boutique shops. Love the Kimono exhibition.

  • 5/5 Grey M. 9 months ago on Google
Located beside the riverbank in a dark garden right next to the fun mobs at the Eiffel Tower, this is a must see for *any* artist or art student visiting Paris, with special interest for curatorial students. The art collections here use a lens of art as pneumonic, as social indicator, or as cultural transmitter, with ritual, ceremonial, festival, or socially engaged aesthetic objects grouped by region and spanning from old to now in close proximity. Art from the regions of Europe and European diaspora as well as most Christian and Greco - Roman legacies, which dominate other big Paris collections), is absent. Draw your own conclusions, but go see the gallery or at least visit its gift shop.

Really interesting museum with a large selection of historical artifacts as partt of the permanent collection, plus changing, temporary exhibitions. There are film screenings held downstairs too (tickets required) Particularly young children may get bored quickly, likewise someone not interested in History etc may go through the whole exhibiton in less than an hour. But worth a visit if you're in the area and the surrounding gardens are lovely in spring/summer. The nearby café is very expensive, staff are wonderful and food is good, but definitely expect to pay the "tourist tax" if you do go in.

The collections from countries on each continent are well displayed. I also saw the special exhibition, and I was very impressed. I recommend places to visit besides the Louvre, Orsay, and Pompidou museums. It has a wonderful exterior.
