This is an amazing collection with the oldest piece in the museum dated back to 4000 years BC. I ended up spending 4 hours engrossed in the exhibits and it still wasn’t enough. The classical instrument collection was incredible - really really breathtaking. It’s a great flow through the museum with plenty of interactive exhibits

There are some great pieces of the mostly modern (1900-2000) art and furniture from all around the world. Some of the pieces are extraordinary and I have never seen elsewhere, like art deco decorated rooms. Also there are spaces for children to play and fir art adults to chill. But other than that no immersive experience, no modern audio guides, so museum is just 4.

I was very early to my bus and decided to check out the museum while I waited, I'm so glad I did. I also liked that they had lockers for your stuff and a concierge to put your bags at if necessary (I had my large roller bag with me). The museum is displayed nicely and I loved the different concepts, timelines, and viewpoints. Several of the displays were in German and English for translation, some displays had additional languages available. On my way out I decided to checkout the gift shop and was more than happy when I found a book by one of my favorite artists that's extremely difficult to find in the states.

I think I spent about four to five hours in this museum. The museum shop was also amazing with lots of variety and amazing products.

Is a very interesting museum. It is worth visiting it. If you are in Hamburg, you should not miss the chance. There are a variety of great art inside this place!! I was amazed to be honest. I did not give it 5 stars, because some parts of the museum had a bit not super interesting stuff. In all cases it deppends :) if you have children then the whole family will find something cool inside for sure :)

Decidedly not a specialist, MKG serves to provide in tangible form what your college art history class sought to convey. Give yourself half a day to experience it properly. Tip for first-timers: Walk through the exhibits in chronological order. MKG is at its best when visitors grasp that the collection offers an overview of art and design as it evolved through the ages and in different locales. While any of the individual exhibits is more than capable of standing on its own merits, the collection can seem a bit random when one fails to follow its natural progression.

Ferner bietet das Museum ein eigenes Bistro mit leckerem Essen, Kuchen und Kaffee. Ich persönlich liebe ja meinen Filterkaffee, den es hier auch gibt. Die Preise sind moderat, ein Besuch - auch als Familie- reißt keine großen Löcher ins Budget. Das gilt übrigens auch für die Eintrittspreise und den Museumsladen. Alles im grünen Bereich. Verkehrstechnisch ist das Museum direkt neben ZOB und Hauptbahnhof natürlich perfekt angebunden. Man kann natürlich auch mit dem Auto kommen, es gibt Parkplätze/Parkhäuser in der Nähe, die sind aber nicht ganz billig. Very interesting place! Very friendly staff, photographs and pictures are allowed, just no flash. The place has a lot of interesting exhibits, across time, and cultures. There's older and more modern exhibits, lots of very interesting Renaissance sculptures and other modern art as well. There was a display about companies and their advertisement art style. There was 3 levels with at least 2 independent sections per level. Also very close to the bahnhof so great place to stop by to kill a couple hours before taking a train.

Some outstanding examples of decorative art and craft are here. The entire museum has the best vibe of any that we have experienced; you really get a sense that life is being lived to it's full potential within these walls. One visit will not let you be able to appreciate every on offer.

This museum blew me away, I didn't expect it at all. Take what you think of an impressive art trough the ages museum and give it steroids. There was actually well implemented vr, animation, mixed media, everything was so cool. I definitely recommend this to everyone and anyone!

I loved visiting the museum. I particularly enjoyed the exhibition called "Heimat" questioning about what "Heimat" is. Also, the Die Spiegel Kantine is amazing. A lot to see and beautiful object. It's worth visiting it

I absolutely loved it! I didn't imagine there would be art pieces from all over the world so I was very pleasantly surprised. The rules for visitors within the museum were very strict but understandable. A great visit!

Really enjoyed exploring this museum. Wonderful artworks with Studio Drift and the Pantone Cantina as my personal highlights. Oh and the restaurant serves a very tasty buffet lunch 😋

Too many photos to share. The tickets are definitely worth it.but route is not clearly marked, sometimes a little bit overwhelmed😅But the collection is wonderful and I can say that some parts from China are even better than what i seen in China.

Very nice museum with some very interesting exhibition. The only drawback I can mention was the fact that all part of the museum was not open.

Loved the museum which has so many different types of sections and you can easily spend 4 hours going through them. A must visit among the many Hamburg museums. Another nice thing is they have kept small seating areas for the guests in every other section as it's helpful to relax in between ☺️

It's an amazing collection, impossible to see it all in one visit. My favourite galleries were those of ancient Greek vases and Art Nouveau. Do not miss it!

Very big museum, you wont be able to see everything at once if you are taking your time and enjoying. They have a quite big collection of East-Asian art, some Art Nouveau, Egyptian, Renaissance and Greek art. You can also discover some modern art, photography, furniture, .... really a lot of different things for every taste.

I didn’t visit the museum yet cause I arrived too late for it to be worth it to see all the exhibitions. However, I visited the Frei Raum which is great as a workplace and I visited the store which had a really nice selection of books, really cool!! I’ll go back for sure to visit the exhibition!

Great museum - very diverse in terms of a collection they have. It’s a cool and yummy restaurant there (good quality ingredients).

Really great Freiraum with a kid area too. The official kid area is open only on weekends, but this area is also really nice. Museum is huge and exhibits are really nice.

A beautiful place to visit. Every first Thursday in a month after 17:00 is free. Ppl can stay until 21:00. It is worthwhile to visit.

The museum is really good and well laid out on multiple floors. The details are in both English and German for most exhibits. If you are an art enthusiast, you would need minimum of 2 hours to go through all exhibits. There was also a Sesame street section with audio guide which I liked.

For 14€, it's insane the amount of content you get! Can only recommend.
