Amazing experience. The tickets were a bit dear but overall it's worth the experience. The museum starts off with Van Gogh's initial days as an artist to his final days of struggle and chaos. You'll feel a bit connected to the artist himself throughout your museum tour (if you look closely) and the skill set that he showcased are all captured under one roof. Good stuff and make sure you take the media guide in your tour cos that can make such a huge difference.

This is by far for me the most beautiful and interesting museum i have ever been in my life. Amazing design, top of the art paintings, polite personnel that lets you take pictures. Keep in mind that you have to book your visit in advance. Amazing experience! I definitely recommend this place while you visit Amsterdam.

This is a great art museums. Pre booking of tickets highly advised. The buildings are huge and splendid to see. Audio tours are amazing to listen to stories while enjoying the art. There is a good cafe which serves fresh food. It also has big shop and a book store. Highly recommended!

Buy your tickets in advance! Of all the museums in the Museum Quarter this one is seems like the highest in demand where tickets sell out the quickest. I would recommend buying at least a week before your planned visit. We still had to queue up for around 10 minutes even with our timed entry ticket. As for the museum it’s laid out nicely. There’s 2 parts of the museum. One where pictures are allowed and a separate section where no photography is allowed. It took us almost 3 hours to go through the all the exhibits as a relaxed pace. I really appreciated the commentary of the life of Van Gogh along with his works. It really allows people to understand his evolution along with his friends and associates that influenced his style. The gift shops carry a lot of interesting items so be sure to save time to get some gifts for your friends and family!

A visit of a lifetime. The whole experience visiting Van Goh museum was exceptional. The museum itself is big enough to accommodate a big crowd. Purchasing tickets is ideal, this gives you a quick pass at the entrance. Audio guide is included for free, I suggest that you should have this during your tour as it is a very nice tool to really understand what you are looking at. So much stories to tell from the Audio guide. The main lobby is so big and airy. Lockers are available for your large items / back packs. 2 boutiques are available and also small coffee shop. There are few benches inside the exhibition so you can relax and sit and enjoy listening to your audio guide. We arrived in the morning slot, therefore there’s not much of crowd. We took public transit to go there. Get ready your feet, as there are several floor levels for you to explore. Nice comfy shoes is recommended. Very impressive museum.

Loved my experience here. Note that you must book online and ahead of time. And be prepared for crowds. Excellent tribute to Van Gogh's life. All his famous works are here, including sunflowers and self portraits. The Versailles exhibition is a nice extra. Audio guide is truly excellent. Lockers provided, excellent gift shop, cafes & restaurants, plenty of seats. No negatives except for the crowds.

Tickets need to be booked online, usually not available on the same day, so better to plan 2-3 days in advance. Could find very interesting art pieces, Van Gogh's life and his painting skills exhibited in the most authentic way possible. They are very well preserved and to see the painting strokes at a close proximity will be a painter's delight. Even people with no knowledge of art can get inspired by the master pieces in display. There's also a bookstore, souvenir shop and a small cafeteria inside. Toilet facilities also available. Can easily spend around 2-3 hours in this museum.

Absolutely stunning collection, beautifully displayed and a very informative audio guide. You really feel like walking across Van Gogh's life. There was a queue even though we had booked out tickets online before hand but it was moving relatively quick. Buy your tickets in advance because it's almost always sold out!

I absolutely loved it. I bought tickets for early in the morning so there weren’t too many people visiting. The lockers were a bit confusing at first but somehow I worked through it 😅 You can take photos of all paintings, which is great too. I had an audio guide and I think it was helpful but you could just as well get the same information without it.

One of the best museums. I recommend buying tickets in advance to avoid queues. A really nice museum with three floors where you can learn about Vincent's life, childhood, illness, death and much more. Spoiler alert: If you are expecting to see "The Starry Night", it is the only painting that is not in this museum nevertheless you are going to enjoy hundreds of masterpieces.

Doesn’t have the painting Starry night. Otherwise it’s really nice to know the artist from the root of his life. Shop is good too. Enjoyed !

The museum is beautiful and well managed, tidy and clean. By the way the price is way too high, and the experience is not worth the cost of the ticket (18€ adult). The gallery only contains some of his paintings and not the most famous ones (such as the starring night). Covid 19 rules are not fully respected (none wears masks inside). In conclusion the store only sells low-value and bad looking items at high prices.

We've been fortunate to visit this place before Covid made it impossible. This is a spectacular museum and houses the largest Vincent van Gogh collection in the world. The museum is home to over 200 paintings and it definitely pays to spend at least a full day here. Getting up close to many of this genius paintings is something we'll always treasure. Highly recommended.

Sundays are better because there are less people. Purchase the ticket in advance and enjoy a lineless entry. With lockers for backpack ans big bags, they have wonderful stores to purchase books and also souvenirs. Take your time to appreciate classical images. Purchase the tickets online as they are usually sold out in the museum.

It was one of the best art museums I've been to. It also coincided that they had Pokémon scavenge hunt event going at the same time which made it even better. Strongly recommend audio guide as it's adding a lot to the story.

Great exhibition! We enjoyed our time here we had limited time so we chose to see the highlights only. The audio guide tour is definitely worth buying it gives you good insight and also clearly mentions the highlights of the museum. The starry nights painting is not at the museum just in case you go looking for it. Definitely worth a visit

Very cool museum! Nice to his some of Van Gogh’s famous and not so famous works. I am not huge into the arts. But still appreciated seeing his work and learning about him! Nice restaurant at the top! Busy on the weekend even with the reservations. So definitely book in advance!

A great place to find out about one of my favourite artists and view his paintings. The museum was busy on the Sunday afternoon we'd pre-booked tickets for but still allowed us plenty of space and time to enjoy the exhibits. It's a shame there was no starry night on display and no mention of it either.

It was about a 2 hour trip and it was totally worth it! Some folks were a bit pushy to see the paintings but it was amazing, not too crowded, and we got to see and experience everything we wanted to there unlike at some other museums. While there is art from others than just Van Gogh, it is a huge dedication to his art, his life, and his talent. Just amazing.

Incredible museum with so many original pieces. Seeing these in person really adds to the impact of the masterpieces. The museum is laid out chronologically to explain how his painting evolved and it does a really good job telling that story took about 2 hours to get through the museum. Highly recommend! Book online a couple days before as tickets are generally sold out 2 days in advance.

Very nice and interesting exhibition. The digital guidance is complimenting the journey in the museum and I think it's a must have. Don't mind the extra few euros that it cost, since it really make the visit more immersive. There are modern lockers of different sizes for storing your personal stuff

Must see museum in Amsterdam. Spent the morning enjoying all of the masterpieces on display. Self led audio tour was great and was able to learn a lot about Van Gogh’s life as an artist and see other artists paintings that inspired him. Interesting and sad to see how his paintings changed as his mental health declined over time. Really enjoyed my time here. Highly recommend.

Very educational. It was worth spending all afternoon here. Having the audio narrator was a good choice. The gift shops have plenty of merchandise to satisfy all age groups with the price ranges. The staffs were sufficient and informative. There were plenty of bathroom stalls, and it was fairly clean. Going up and down the stairs in the main exhibit halls were a bit difficult for people with physical disabilities. I wish there were more seating.

It was a great experience. The museum consists of two parts: permanent and temporary exhibition. I’ve arrived almost at 15:00 and it took me 2h to go through the main part (permanent) and souvenir shops. As the museum closes at 17:00, I didn’t have time to go to the other part. However, as the main part consists of 4 floors (if I am not mistaken), it was more than enough to feel absolutely satisfied. They also have a cafe and a restaurant, 2 gift shops and 1 book shop. I also bought an audio tour which was good as well. Highly recommend! Don’t forget to buy the tickets online in advance!

Missed last year due to not booking ahead so this year had tickets several weeks ahead. Used audio guide so could go at own pace. Well laid out over 4/5 floors taking through Vincent’s life and times. Apart from the huge collection of his art there were also works by some of his friends and contemporaries.

Great museum, the audio guides are very useful. You get very close to the artwork. The descriptions on the wall are in Dutch and English. The audio guides are multiple languages. Make sure you get your tickets in advance because when I went they were completely sold out. I wish starry night was there.

Long waiting line, but we managed to get in exactly on the time we booked. It was special feeling to see the paintings live and read about the Van Gogh' life. Souvenirs are surprisingly not too expensive as one could expect.

So impressed by the Van Gogh museum. The whole place was very organized. They store your coats and bags so you can visit freely the museum, they give you a number so when your visit ends you can have your stuff back. This museum is the most advanced museum I have ever visited. There are phones where you can pick up and hear phone conversations of Van Gogh, you can also plug in your earphones to certain points in order to hear the letters he was writing. So interesting! The sad part was that my friend couldn't get inside since there was a limited number of tickets per hour so she missed it. The waiting line can be really long so be prepared. It's a must to visit this museum in Amsterdam!

Interesting museum with an impressive collection of Vincent van Gogh paintings. Amazing how much he painted in many different styles in such a short life time. His life is very well explained with letters from van Gogh, paintings&sketches from himself and fellow artists. It was not so busy due to Covid-19 measures. A must visit museum in the world!

Incroyable expérience ! Incontournable !

Very large exhibit with a detailed look into Van Gogh's life in and outside of his art. Looking at his paintings, his home life, family and friends and his inspirations. Highly detailed notes for each piece and pieces from other artist's collections too. Lifts and wheelchair accessible entrance. Low-Mid Covid safety with limited sanitizers available and masks not compulsory. In fact, you have to take your mask off before you enter for the cameras. But can wear one when inside. Takes aproximately 2 hours. Unfortunately, I could not give more than 4 stars as on the day I visited they had closed off a large part of the gallery. I was only informed of this once I had already paid the not cheap cost of a ticket and been round half the gallery. If I had known, I would have delayed my visit. Quite inexcusable to not inform people before they purchase a ticket.

(Translated by Google) The museum with the legendary Van Gogh paintings. It is forbidden to take pictures inside, the officials warn, but there should have been a memory from these wonderful paintings, I too, 💛, we look and sigh during this epidemic period. If you haven't gone, definitely go. Get to know Vincent, whose value has never been known in his life, see 🎨 only the frames did not fit the pictures. The Renaissance may be in paintings, but it was not compatible with impressionist paintings, it lost the originality of the painting. Unfortunately, museums do not understand art either. Gitmediyseniz mutlaka gidin. Hayatında neler yaşamış değeri hiç bilinmemiş Vincent’i resimleriyle tanıyın görün 🎨 yalnız çerçeveler resimlere hiç uymamış. Rönesans tablolarda olabilir fakat empresyonist tablolarla uyumlu olmamış, resmin orijinalliğini kaybettirmiş. Maalesef müzeciler de sanattan anlamıyor.

Excellent Museum. Kid friendly with a half hour where they get to go and draw and paint, as well as given paper so they can sketch the Paintings on the walls if they like. Great gift shop as well. To do the entire thing I estimate about 3-5 hours depending on if you are doing the audio guide and want to read every single blurb for each painting.

To witness the masterpieces from such proximity is mesmerizing in its truest sense. An audio-tour around the museum is also available and I strongly recommend taking it unless you already know a lot about Vincent. It may take 1.5- to 3 hours (may be even more) to go around and check every painting in detail.

Art-Historic. Stairs-Never-ending. Comfy shoes recommended. I believe it’s 4 stories of art. I don’t recommend the audio devices they offer, most art pieces don’t have audio connected to them, the ones that do give very brief summaries of the art or a guess of what the artist was thinking when creating it.

There's no shortage of reviews for this museum, so I'll focus on some practical info and what makes a visit to the Van Gogh so special. First of all, don't forget to book a ticket online before your visit. You can do this easily on the museum's website. It's mandatory during 2021 Covid restrictions, but otherwise it will also speed up the entry process. It's not possible to bring large bags and trollies into the museum. You can store them at level -2 of the nearby Q-Park Museum parking garage (9 EUR per day). Daypacks need to be stored in small lockers in the museum (for free), you can't bring them during your visit. Hand bags are OK. You are guided through the museum with arrows on the floor. Optionally you can buy the multimedia tour (at the service desk) or book a guide (well ahead of your visit) for additional context. In case you are visiting with kids I recommend the kids tour (available at the family desk). A great and fun way to learn about Van Gogh's life and understand how he developed as a painter. The little stories with every painting and the links to his contemporary painters, friends and family give a valuable insight into the mind and work of Van Gogh. These are especially relevant to understand how van Gogh arrived at his masterpieces, which are definitely not a stroke of luck, but rather a result of his study, talent, influences and personal life.

The museum closes at 6PM. If you are planning on coming later to avoid big crowds, be aware that the museum staff may kick you out before. One floor was closed off as we were about to enter it, with 15 minutes to closing and we were kicked out the last room and could not have a look at some of the last paintings on the last floor before 6PM. Very disappointing experience.

The popularity of the museum is absolutely well-deserved. The museum is organized chronologically, from bottom to top, and reflects on the life of the artist not only as an artist but as a human being. While the current commercial success and pop cultural hype around Van Gogh are well worth analyzing, the museum does a wonderful job at humanizing him. Entrance fee are applicable, the space can get a bit crowded depending on the time of day you visit.

The experience itself was fun, to visit a museum for the first time, but it was extremely boring 😂 I loved it there, the place, the workers, but I’m not into quietness. Would recommend if you appreciate art (especially painters) or people who genuinely enjoy reading about Van Gogh’s life.

Second time in this museum has been a bit disappointing. There wasn't enough light in a big part of the permanent exhibition. It was quite crowded which was unpleasant and made booking a visiting hour pointless. Also, the other half of the museum where temporary exhibitions used to be held was closed for construction work. Paying full price for half the experience felt a bit odd. Still, we were able to enjoy the art and after all, this is the main reason for visiting. The museum staff were all very kind and helpful. We had an issue with our tickets not arriving in the email but they handled it quickly.

In our short visit, one of the places we didn't want to miss. Worth visiting - being face to face with Vincent's breathtaking art is a special experience. Book tickets ahead to avoid disappointment. If weather is nice, worth visiting with a bike, bringing a picnic to enjoy in the nice, big green area between Van Gogh and Rijksmuseum.

Incredible to be walking around rooms with these original works in them. I personally liked the layout floor by floor. Walks chronologically through his life and his works, showing many works from artists that influenced him along the way. You can literally walk right up to the paintings and see the brush strokes close up. There were a few interactive screens along the way if your kids get antsy, but VG’s works are so well known that our young kids even seemed to appreciate it all. We did not do the audio tour, and it was still spectacular, but I wouldn’t mind returning and utilizing that guide.

It has always been my dream to go to this museum! I love Van Gogh's works but his personal life also teaches us about growth, finding one's self and the struggles of those afflicted with mental illness. I enjoyed seeing how his art flourished through the years: from when he had just started paiting up until his tragic death. Those looking for Starry Night will not find it here, but the Almond Blossom (my favorite) and one of his Iris paintings are here, on the top floor. Highly recommend booking your tickets in advanced. Only reason I gave 4 stars is due to the number of crowds even on a weekday, they could probably decrease tickets sold or stagger entrance time in between time slots longer so people can enjoy and take their time admiring his works.

Visited in August 2022 bought the headset to listen to the history. The Museum was great I wish the headset they gave us walked you thru the museum rather than having to choose a random number which was listed very well thru out the museum. Otherwise the Museum was very nice. It was missing one of his most famous pieces Starry Night. Was a great experience would recommend.

Brilliant museum housing the largest collection of van Gogh's work in the world. From famed pieces to the lesser known. Multi-storey complex with works spanning decades. Fascinating self-portraits and landscape still life captures. Sunflowers was one of the most popular paintings with a queue to view and absorb, whilst my personal favourite was Almond Blossoms.

Wonderful experience! Visits are well organized. Staff is very friendly. Displays are very informative and you can fully enjoy the atmosphere even skipping to buy extra audio guide. There is no rush to enter or leave an exhibition. Everyone will have enough time to get the most out of the experience. I had a short stay in Amsterdam and this museum was my main goal. I am very happy and this visit exceeded my expectations. I even purchased a book with all the paintings from the museum in my native language.

The museum is arranged in a way that you get immersed in the life of Vincent, seeing must of his masterpieces, the closure is really great to make it meaningful and be more empathetic with people suffering melancholic. The family activities are amazing you can paint like Vincent and an art expert is guiding you. Seeing kids knowing more about Vincent's life and his master pieces is very positive, I would be back again for sure.

We came here on our holiday as I am a huge Van Gogh fan. The museum was clean, easily accessible for disabled people and not over crowded even though it was busy. You were able to go around at your own pace and enjoy the paintings. The gift shop also has some really interesting things.

I recommend booking your visit in advance as it's always sold out. It's very beautiful but crowded. The Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam is dedicated to the life and works of the renowned Dutch artist Vincent van Gogh. It houses the largest collection of his paintings and drawings, providing a comprehensive overview of his artistic development. The museum also features letters and personal belongings, offering insights into Van Gogh's tumultuous life. Besides the artworks, visitors can explore exhibits that delve into the artist's creative process and the impact of his work on art history. The museum's architecture is notable, and it's situated in the Museumplein area, making it a key cultural attraction in Amsterdam.

Great overall but come early. We went at 10ish. It was pretty full of people on a Sunday in early March which should be a slower tourist season so I can't even imagine how packed it is during high season. Get tickets well before because it can sell out as it did for the day we went.

Great walk down the memory lane of Vincent's tragic life. From his start as a peasant painter to his obsession with the beauty of nature. Every chapter is divided on a new floor with clear introduction and accompanying artworks. Also a whole chapter on his technique and drawings.

I loved the Van Gogh Museum. The art work was wonderful. It was very crowded so be prepared to wait. I like that they have the ear plugs so you can learn about the different pieces of ary. I also like how the art is on different floors for the different times in his life.

Some of the most important paintings are not there. They are either at the rijksmuseum or in paris. Therefore, the souvenirs you can buy at the van gogh museum are only from the paintings they have. So, its a bit disappointing to not have ANY souvenirs on 'the starry nights' and also not be able to see it. For the museum card the ticket is free. But you have to pay for the audio guide :/ If you dont have a tour, just go in to see the paintings, then its not interesting

The style of the sketches is really captivating and one gets a better understanding for the art. Also very safe and with good measures for covid 19. Not crowded as its done by booking a time slot. (Translated by Google) I don't even think the Van Gogh Museum is in Amsterdam, but it's an urgent addition to the tour. Seeing pictures that could only be seen in books with your own eyes. That alone is impressive enough. The only regret is that there were too many people to take the time to appreciate it. Rather, I took some time to pick something that would be memorable at the souvenir shop. Fantastic museum and I love it. After previous 3 visits this time, visit was slightly spoiled by an after middle age worker ''Lady" at the museum. As I was getting to the first expo items, elevator door opened and this "Lady" instantly jumped in front of me to tell me I can't enter because I have a bag with me (small 'Otto backpack' from 'property of' company). I had just some items - my wallet, asthma medicine, notes and car keys in there. Yet, when I explained her, that her colleague allowed to take the bag with me, she disagreed and asked me to leave. Then I looked around and pretty much 1 in 3 people had some sort of bag or backpack with them. She ignored that and started of with authority flexing. Worker "Lady" was visibly triggered and got very nervous in no time when I asked why many other people had bags and visibly larger than mine with them, yet I could not enter. Why my bag is a problem? I asked, where are signs or any indication, that I can't take my small bag with me? Only later, I found out from other workers there, that there were lockers recently installed and I can leave my bag there and have rest of my stuff with me in a transparent bag. I can only wonder, why this worker "Lady" (she did not want to give her first name) was so bad at communicating, awkward, anxious, authority flexing to visitors/customers, yet holds this job, where exactly calm communication and simple explanations are needed...

Before starting the museum tour, we can firstly hang our coats in the hanger space. Lockers are also provided to put our belongings which I found very convenient. Here just like the name of the museum, you can easily learn about van gogh’s life as an artist. A detailed historical biography of van gogh is delivered very orderly through text and arts (paintings) in the museum. Besides van gogh’s arts, the museum also displays some other arts of other painters whose paintings were also inspired by van gogh. Book store and merchandise store are also available inside the museum.

It would be the same then and now that you have to make a reservation in advance by time slot- The architecture itself seemed to fit well with Van Gogh, so it has been inside for quite some time, but it was comfortable. Wi-Fi and power outlets were well equipped, and there was a court room, so it was comfortable to store clothes and luggage. I sold coffee inside, took a cup of coffee in the middle and looked at the picture again- This museum was the first to experience healing and energy gaining in front of the original painting, although I didn't speak the language because it was impossible to shoot. For the first time in that experience, I still have a hobby of going to art museums to see paintings. The gift shop and book shop are particularly well-rounded and famous! (Translated by Google) Admittedly, it is one of the European museums with the most expensive tickets, but for those of us who love the painter, it is money well spent. Since I did not buy the proceeds previously, I ate a two and a half hour queue. The building consists of 3 floors, the first and last thing you will see during the tour is a shop to buy souvenirs with the portrait or the different paintings of the artist. Outside of this purely commercial point, I wanted to clarify two issues: the first is that nothing can be recorded or photographed; the second is that access with backpacks or umbrellas is not allowed, they must be kept in the cloakroom at the entrance. For those of us who love impressionism, this visit is inexcusable, however we must bear in mind that not all of Vincent's popular works are here. In addition to his works, you can carefully appreciate the collection of Japanese prints he had. The shop inside is not cheap either, but just to give you an idea I bought a copy of "Letters to Theo" for 10 euros.

A museum that's worth the visit. But you do need to take your sweet time since there is a lot to see. I was especially surprised to discover the Asian inspired paintings that Van Gogh did.

  • 4/5 Daniel M. 4 years ago on Google
Lot of art to see so pace yourself. You can get quite close to view the works and get a detailed history of his life and influences. Overall pricey on its own but if you get the iamsterdam card then it is probably worth it. Overall not bad place to visit.

Should be more like Van Gogh an friends! I didn’t found directions so I looked at the wrong gallery first. Anyways I found my favorite artist there now 🌞😌 so it turned out to be a nice trip! The bathrooms are very nice though.

Thanks to the pandemic, it is not too difficult for visitors to buy tickets. People usually spend quite long time to understand his techniques in paintings, so be patient too. Going through his collections and biography, you will understand deeply the journey Van Gogh had struggled with. It is such a sad story! To me, the explanations of using the colors in his paintings were the most interesting part.

I have no words to describe how I feel about this experience. It's like a travel through the artist's mind, thoughts and feelings. It's perfect!

A definite MUST while visiting Amsterdam. Amazing to see the permanent expo and temporary one as the Potato Eaters as well. Very easy access and well organized inside!

One of the most visited museums in Amsterdam. I never knew that Vincent Van Gogh had painted hundreds of creative arts and murals. A very talented painter in his era, but sadly succumbed to depression. Unfortunately, his most famous painting, the 'Starry Night', is not found in this musuem.

  • 5/5 Sander H. 2 years ago on Google
Beautifully architected museum dedicated to maybe the most famous painter if them all. Three floors showing Vincent's life, his struggles, his letters, his influences, and if course his work, magnificent and breathtaking. My favorite Van Gogh painting "Graanveld met kraaien" is on the third floor. It's just incredible to see how many if his paintings are so incredibly famous. There's a beautiful gallery devoted to his self portraits, but the mist famous one is on floor two. Don't miss this incredible museum when you're in town. Reserve your ticket. Be aware of long waiting lines due to corona checks.

Excellent museum - worth the visit. Note that tickets should be booked online in advance. Plan for at least an hour there, and ideally between 2 and 3 hours. Large collection of painting, and the audio guide is helpful (given the general lack of info provided otherwise).

  • 5/5 Pratnu A. 2 years ago on Google
Great place to spend your whole day. Meeting place of famous paintings with descriptions of the artists. You can also enjoy many historical objects, letters related to paintings and painters here. Highly recommending the place for those who want to become the part of art history.

Very nice museum. It was bigger than I expected! And there were not only art, there were also activities along the art route which were appreciated. There were lots of lockers in different sizes at the entrance floor which was very convenient.

Amazing museum, modern and complet, all the informations you need and, of course, the incredible work of the MASTER

  • 5/5 Iulian I. 2 years ago on Google
Such a wonderful place. It isn't like the normal museum trips (for example: Vatican, Louvre etc.) it is more of a journey into mental illness and slow descent into madness. You see a clear time-line since u enter the museum and you relieve the artist's downfall. It starts beautifully with warm colors and nice paintings and after 88 you see a clear degradation of his work. What truly cough my eye is this painting of Pieta where the artist identified himself as Jesus and painted over the face of Jesus his own. If you visit Amsterdam you should definitely give this museum a chance.

Visited twice so far! Got to know a lot more about Vincent through his art at the Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam. Staff are a bit up tight, but all in all it’s a definite must to visit and be immersed in Vincent’s finest!

Very nice museum. It is located in the city center and is easily accessible; the prices are fair for what you see. It is also possible to have discounts if you present the European student card. Recommended visit.

Really really great experience, was well built and designed, the audio guide for 3 euros was really great. There's also a cool souvenir shop. If you go there you should bring some time to really understand everything.

The most magical immersion on Van Gogh’s art and life. This experience changed my life. Perfect. You can also see other artist as Rodin, Monet and more.

This place has such beauty to it none of these words your about to read will do it justice. This is a once in a life time moment to share with friends or loved ones. They have listening system to purchase to walk around and hear the history and creation of all the art in the museum. If you get a chance you must stop in and lose yourself in some original creations.

  • 4/5 Zeri 1 year ago on Google
Although the museum was well maintained and did a thorough introduction to Van Gogh's life, I don't feel it justified the 20 euros price seeing as I was there for about 1 1/2 hours. 12 euros would be a much more reasonable price for it.

  • 5/5 Quyen T. 1 year ago on Google
Easily a must visit place in Amsterdam whether you're an art fanatic or a casual admirerer! The museum is beautiful and well organized. The flow of each floor elevates the experience. The museum restaurant is nice and spacious. The shop offers reasonably priced memorabilia. The guided tour was 5€ and worth it for me, but I can see that not everyone would be into it. The audio guide for 3.5€ is a must.

  • 5/5 Alice J. 1 year ago on Google
Highly recommend the visit, getting to see these paintings in real life was such a treat, you can get right close to the paintings and see so much detail and they are much bigger than you think too! Nothing like crazy popular museums in Paris for example where you can't even see the paintings, everyone was able to be spaced out nicely and have a wonderful relaxing experience enjoying the art. It probably took 1.5 hours for me by myself without the audio guide and I revisited a few that I really loved to look at for a while so you could definitely do it faster if you wanted. The shop was okay but didn't have anything exclusive that I hadn't seen before and wasn't the best quality souvenir items so would suggest just buying those elsewhere.

  • 5/5 Jim C. 1 year ago on Google
Definitely one of the top attractions in Amsterdam. It was great to see his artistic works and learn about his life. They had audio guides to see the highlights or explore on your own. It took us about one hour and fifteen minutes and we listened to all the official audio guide recordings. Would definitely recommend.

  • 5/5 Scott L. 1 year ago on Google
The museum is amazing! Besides the obvious art, the descriptions posted next to them in Dutch and English was much appreciated. They also rented head phones with a small handheld device that you could listen to descriptions and commentary on different art pieces. They told stores about how and why certain pieces were created. There were even quotes from Van Gogh himself. Make sure to purchase tickets online early. There were no tickets available for the rest off the day when we visited.

If you know of the famous Starry night 🌌 ,appreciate art, and are human you will definitely enjoy your ride here. Facilities are available everywhere, cafes and a place to sit every end of a gallery hall. This place is family friendly also which makes it a good destination for families who love art. Peace :)

It was a bit too crowded for my liking but that just goes to show how many people are visiting and loving it. I loved it too, and would have loved to spend more time in here if I wasn’t already exhausted that day. So go there fresh and full of energy to truly enjoy reading the info and admiring the artwork

  • 2/5 GGG F. 11 months ago on Google
Unfortunately this was not what I was expecting. We went only to the permanent exhibition, but that was enough. Since the beginning I felt lost: - not even an introduction about van Gogh - nobody explains you how the museum works - nobody explains you how the audio guides work - the explanations of the audioguides are useless - the museum is extremely bad organized - too many people - too many people clicking pictures and not even looking at the paintings - it's not at all a journey to discover Van Gogh - The way how paintings are placed doesn't give any value to Van Gogh and his oeuvres. The set up has a color palette that doesn't help to highlight the paintings. - the light installation was not professional and it was constantly reflecting on the paintings, making hard to see them properly. We won't go back to this museum unless they change their set up. It's a real pity because the paintings on their own were gorgeous.

Extremely interesting museum. I learned a lot about Van Gogh and his life and also really enjoyed the variety of his and others’ works in the museum. Very relaxing visit! Not too crowded. I did buy my tickets two or three weeks in advance for a Saturday, which was almost sold out at the time I was booking. Also at the time I went, there is not Starry Night here. Nevertheless I really enjoyed my visit! Coffee was pretty good too and the souvenirs are very cute.

Fantastic gallery that is really well laid out and easy to explore. The displays are beautiful and I highly recommend the audio tour to provide additional commentary on key pieces of art. Two hours was the ideal amount of time to explore the permanent collection, however, the temporary exhibition is also huge so we didn't have the time to take all of this in. I'd recommend allowing half a day if you want to see everything.

  • 4/5 AJ 7 months ago on Google
Really cool museum and building. I appreciated the chronologic organization / story telling. Great English signage throughout. Generally felt like the museum was a bit packed- had a hard time seeing some of the art and would have appreciated a few less people

A must see in Amsterdam. The museum displays Van Gogh’s work in an engaging way. His story is revealed in a fascinating way that respects his family, friends, and legacy. Every worker was very nice. I did a report for school on Vincent Van Gogh when I was about 9 or 10 years old; I never thought I’d see his actual paintings. It was very moving.

  • 5/5 Cristina P. 6 months ago on Google
Excellent museum. A must for everyone. I loved visiting it, especially after visiting Nuenen too. Obviously it’s the most comprehensive museum containing many of van Gogh’s paintings. I highly recommend you visit it and get the audio guide too. Allocate at least 3h for it (I think 4 is decent to be able to go through all the paintings and all the audio guide info). Get tickets online well in advance!!! Otherwise you won’t be able to get it. There is a limited number of tickets. It’s a bit crowded as it is. Try to go in the morning.

  • 5/5 Igor O. 7 months ago on Google
A magnificent museum - here you can not only enjoy the work of Van Gogh and look at his painting, but really learn a lot from his biography, understand why he painted in this style in each of the periods of his life and, in general, better understand his work. I advise you to take an audio guide, which discusses the main of his works (if you are not an art historian, you probably will not understand without an audio guide why some paintings are considered brilliant). The museum itself is very popular - you can't get into it without an appointment, at least during the season, so it's best to plan this trip to the museum in advance. You can follow the museum map.

  • 5/5 Benjamin B. 5 months ago on Google
If you love Van Gogh and his art, this is obviously the place to go. It's a very well put together museum that steps you through his life and the art at each point, the artists that influenced him, including Japanese art, and also the psychological aspects of his life as best they are understood from his art and writings. The audio tour is great, both to listen to and with further interaction on the device screen. There's also stuff for kids, like currently a Pokemon partnership.

Great exhibition of his work lovely additions made to the exhibit info about his life and death. A beautiful place.🌻 Recommend buying tickets more than a week before your visit to avoid disappointment, was glad I did as they were sold out for the week I was there.

Breath taking experience. For its value the price is low, the merchandise is in reasonable prices and the whole experience was 1000% worth it. Must visit when you're in Amsterdam. It took us 4 hours with the audio guide which is also a must (just 3.5€).

Explore Van Gogh's brilliance at Amsterdam's museum, a captivating immersion into his masterpieces. Ensure a smooth visit by purchasing tickets in advance. The Audi guide enhances your experience, providing insightful commentary that enriches your understanding of the artistry on display.

A must visit museum of Amsterdam. It displays a variety of Van Gogh's paintings and some of his most important masterpieces, along with other of his contemporaneous artists' work. It also contains plenty of information about his work and personal life. The temporary exhibitions are very interesting too. The only disadvantages are the ticket price, which could be way less expensive, and the fact that the collection is not completed and the most important pieces are in different museums and countries.

One of a must visit museum in Amsterdam. You could learn van gogh's life and works in this museum. Had a pleasant visit to this museum on late September this year. You need to buy the ticket online, better in advance since it's easy to sell out.

Definitely a must to visit in Amsterdam. So much to see I used the audio tour guide which was really helpful and encouraged me to take time to learn more about the art. Lockers for coats and bags was a wee stroke of genius and gift shop has so mich choice.

Certainly one of the best museums I've ever visited. The storytelling is excellent, and the manageable crowds allow you to truly take your time and immerse yourself in Van Gogh's life and journey. Highly recommended!

  • 5/5 Amalina A. 3 months ago on Google New
My planned visit coincidentally took place during the Pokemon Adventure campaign so I could not believe my luck. Make sure you book your online tickets weeks in advance because they sell out fast. No videos or flash photography, I don't think there were signs but we were informed by the staff who were firm but respectful. I think the museum is curated really well and it's fun for visitors of all ages. I appreciated the prompts and interactive activities to enhance my experience. I also appreciated seeing the more human and troubled version of Van Gogh through his letters and audio exhibits. The Pokemon paintings were also exciting to see in person. We were fortunate to get the trading cards and there were people approaching us seeking to purchase the cards as soon as we exited the building.
