It's beautiful in the Jemez Mountains this time of year. The weather was great. Not too cold at night yet, but that can change very soon. Daylight brought clear blue skies and a really peaceful feeling were I camped. I actually had time to build my own rock fireplace.

My family and I drive out here at least twice a month for a long day away from the business of life. With endless trails, hidden water holes, hot springs, amazing camping and fly fishing, you could stay here for quite some time!

This forest is absolutely beautiful! So many trails to discover! I especially love the thousands of aspen trees, the lovely creeks and cleanness everywhere. Very beautiful when in Santa Fe.

If it's a national forest -- it always deserves 5 stars. Vast grasslands (less so forests) open for all to explore. You can camp here for free, too, just be sure to leave no trace. On occasion you may run into cows gracing on the land. But, overall, very peaceful. Unfortunately, the very first stretch of the entrance has suffered of some trash (furniture mainly) being dumped here. The dirt roads are not maintained, so be prepared for a bumpy drive. Hence, minus one star.

We camped at Jemez Falls. We had a great time and got out of the 103+ temps in the metro. Camp is well maintained. Fresh potable water is available. Pit toilets were clean. The cool stream is about 1/2 mile hike from the camp. Warm springs are a brutal 2.5 mile hike each way (make sure to take way more water than you think is necessary) but they are totally worth it! We also took our bikes to cruise around the camp for entertainment. Everyone is good about keeping their dogs on leads & the hosts are on top of everything. Can't wait to go back!

Highly recommend for the views and trails! This post is more on the amazing family opportunity to cut down your own Christmas tree! Apply for a permit online for $10 (at the time of this review), and you are able to go to the national forest and cut your own tree! Rangers mention what type of supplies you will need! Highly recommend! We used to always just use our fake tree but I believe we have started a new Christmas tradition now!!

February 8 hiking about 1.8 miles, an hour, from Battleship Rock into McCauley springs. Pleasant but ice cleats, Trax, would have made it safer on sometimes icy trails. Not many people on a Sunday. Dog friendly. Hot springs maybe easier to find with trail through snow. But did not see the trail I thought would go to Jemez Campground. Three ponds. Water not horribly hot but comfortable in the snow.

Beautiful area with incredible views. The air smells amazing, is clean, cool, and crisp. The only thing that bothered me was the amount of graffiti on boulders, signs, and other areas as you drive up into the mountains and along shorter hiking trails. The graffiti needs to be removed with a power washer.

We spent Memorial day weekend in the Jemez mountains. For people who don't own property in the mountains, there are many different camp site locations. For RV's, for backpacking, or for glampimg, there's plenty of space for everyone. It's quiet and peaceful, but not too out of the way for a quick vacation away from the city.

Went to Jemez Falls trail via Shiprock and had a wonderful hike, the climb is at least a 35% incline for over a mile. Nice and green and the creek was flowing.

An amazing place for dispersed camping, hiking and exploration of the diverse terrain of this National Forest.. Eight great days immersed in nature, can't wait to return in 2024.

The fire damage is evident, but it is still beautiful here. The elevation makes for a good escape from the reality of our future.

Trees? This place has them! Animals? They got that too! -1 star for the fires. Definitely a health and safety hazard.
