When in Portugal, you must try Fado music and you might as well pick the top rated place. We did this very thing, landed up here and really loved the performances and port wine to boot. There were also no bad places to sit in the warm and intimate space. I recommend this place for anyone looking for an authentic fado experience with passionate singers and instrumentalists.

This was for my first evening in Porto and wow! I chose this place based on all the good reviews on Google. And I was not disappointed. The ticket costs €20 but if you pay online like I did, it will be €19. There is a 5% discount at the moment for online booking. And every booking comes with a choice of water or a glass of Porto wine. The authenticity, the passion you could coming out from those artists were unmatched. Before the singing started, the room had the chance to hear a bit about Fado history and the different types that exist. The size of the room and its layout makes the show feels very intimate. It was a pure moment of connection. And this memory will live with me for a very long time.

The evening at the Ideal Clube de Fado was the highlight of our journey in Porto. I wasn’t familiar with Fado music. Two friends individually mentioned about listening to Fado while in Portugal. I did some online research and found this venue. The experience was beyond my expectations. I love when artists genuinely sing from their heart with soul. Both of the two ladies performed that evening have incredible vocal power and skills. Even though we don’t understand Portuguese, we could feel the emotions through the music and their voices.. Thank you very much for the unique experience..

What an honour to be able to listen to some fantastic traditional Portugese singing and music. A cosy comfortable venue, easy to locate. 2 great musicians and 2 wonderful singers all full of passion for their music. I wish I had gone earlier to look at the posters etc on the wall and possibly speak to the people involved. Must not forget the young lady on the door as she was friendly and helpful. Sorry there is no video.

Fado Porto. Ideal Clube Fado turned out to be the right choice. Centrally located a place with careful decoration and fantastic acoustics. A port wine while listening two musicians with incredible sound and excellent singers with fado soul. A brief explanation about tadition and history and a very brief introduction before each song. A MUST!!

When searching for a traditional Fado night the best suggestion I found was this one, Ideal Club de Fado. The original price for under 26 years old was 17€ but when buying it online we received a discount, so it ended up costing 14€ per person. Due to traffic, we arrived with a 5min delay and sadly missed the beginning of the show but were kindly welcomed and offered a free glass of port wine. It is a very small location which on the outside looked closed but had a very cozy and intimate atmosphere on the inside. When we arrived a lady was signing, a man was playing the Portuguese guitar and another young man playing the classic guitar. One could notice that the lady sang with a lot of passion and emotion. She took small breaks in between and during those moments the young man took over the signing. We were able to experience different types of Fado which was interesting. Furthermore, all the explanations were in English. It was an amazing experience, and the wine was delicious.

An emotional experience to listen to a show here. You get to hear the singers who are very passionate to the art. The Portuguese guitar player was very experienced and we enjoyed speaking to him after the show under the rain. We hope more people would listen to this music.

Very cozy fado house. It was hard to find at first but it’s right beside the restaurant with the palm tree. The show was 1 hr long with amazing guitar skills and singers.

I had a lovely experience at the “Ideal Clube de Fado”. It was the first time I went to a fado performance. There were three artists present; a woman who sang, a man who played guitar and sang, and another man who played the Portuguese guitar. The building looks from the outside a bit uninviting however, when you enter you immediately get a feeling of cosiness. The walls are decorated with frames with fado music and posters. The acoustics inside the building are fantastic. In my opinion they are quite inclusive, since the artists explain everything in English. They told us that they love to make people acquainted with fado, especially people who are not Portuguese. The ticket for students was only €14 with a glass of port wine included. Overall, this has been an interesting first meeting with fado music.

This was my first time at "Ideal Club de Fado", and I had a great experience through and through. My friends and I wanted to go to a fado performance to learn more about the Portuguese culture, and this club looked the most inviting and it was easy to find. The tickets were quite cheap as well and since we are students, we very much appreciated that. Aside from the fact that the club looked like it was closed when we arrived there, we were welcomed in very kindly and were even offered a free glass of very tasty port wine. The show was about an hour long, with one man playing the Portuguese guitar, one man singing and playing classic guitar, and a woman singing most of the evening. They were are very nice and explained what the song they were about to sing was about, all in English of course, because they want to share the art and beauty of fado with people all around the world. We had a very enjoyable night and I would definitely come back again!

A simple and intimate venue to experience Fado. A combination of vocal and instrumental music really gave one a sense of what Fado was about. The mixture was great, and I'm glad to have experienced it in Porto.

Witnessing these incredibly talented artists perform Fado was easily one of the most beautiful experiences of my life!! The passion, love, and expression of this music through the singers and musicians is a MUST to experience in Porto. I cannot wait to visit again!

nice and different performances by the two fado singers. it’s a cozy place to enjoy a 1h concert & a glass of porto. the accompanying musicians are also good. better to book the 6pm performance so you leave at 7pm for dinner.

The music, singers and ambient are genuinly amazing, beautiful and fun. The songs are emotional, can make you dance and can make you cry. Very much recommended

The singer and musicians were excellent. Very pleasant venue. Having a brief explanation in English in addition to Portuguese before each number would have enhanced the experience tremendously for us.

Music truly knows no boundaries! This fado show was such an exceptional experience. The dedication and passion were remarkable, and we enjoyed focusing on the voices and emotions being transmitted. It was very easy to book tickets for our large group via whatssap thanks to Ricardo who was friendly, professional, and very responsive. He invited us to join the show half and hour before it started to learn more about fado. Learning about the background and different styles allowed us to have an even greater experience. The fado show and speaking to the artists after the show was a highlight we’ll never forget!

We were give an education and wonderful introduction to Fado. We appreciate the passion of the performers and their amazing musicianship. We enjoyed our evening very much.

Absolutely beautiful performances. Great explanations and introductions in Portuguese and English. Couldn't leave without buying all their albums. Unforgettable chemistry on stage and brilliant improvisation that demands repeat visits!

We booked tickets online for a Fado evening. 15 minutes before the show we got an explanation about Fado. The different kind of Fado (and not Fado at all). If you want to hear the real Fado come to Ideal Clubr de Fado. We had a wonderful evening with a glass of Port.

Incredible experience! A fantastic venue, seating only 20 or so people, which allows for an intimate and personal musical experience. The music was just so beautiful, the musicians so talented. We felt we had a truly Portuguese experience. Thank you for sharing your beautiful musical traditions and its history with us. Would highly recommend Ideal Clube de Fado to anyone visiting Porto. We will definitely be returning.

First of all they are professionals who are passionate about their artistry, which to me is the most important thing for a performance. The intro before the show is informative, and the concert was very impressive. I shall miss it! Keep up the good work !

Amazing introduction to fado! The singers and musicians are very talented and the atmosphere really cosy and intimate! Go there 30 min early for bonus explanations about the different Portuguese traditional song styles and to grab one of the best seats 😉👍

Excellent experience! You show up at 17:30h and receive an explanation with samples of different types of fado. Then the show begins at 18h with a glass of port. Very experienced and talented guitarists and singers. I highly recommend!

The music was beautiful, the singers voices were top notch, the mandolin and guitar player played expertly. My biggest issue was the vocalists and the musicians did not make eye contact with the audience. It sounds like a trite complaint. And maybe it is traditional with Fado. But Fado is extremely emotional. And having a singer close his eyes the entire time squashes the emotion. I found it difficult to watch them perform as I sought a connection with them and the music they were presenting to us. It was a very weird feeling, juxtaposed emotions, raw, bare, painful, sad but also, stay away and keep your distance. same applies to the musicians. I don't feel like any of the performers have to look into my eyes but just seeing their eyes would make a huge difference. also, one star less because if you're on the back row, you cannot see well. I almost never saw the mandolin at all and sometimes the singers face was blocked. it is not the best set up for a performance. need elevated back row or a more elevated stage for the back row.

Excellent way to experience fado if you only have a short time in Porto. Comfortable club atmosphere to enjoy excellent selections presented by a male and female singer accompanied by two very accomplished guitar players. Highly recommended.

Only have the songs and a gloss of port. It is a cozy place with good atmosphere. Songs are good and port tasty. Good value for money. Reservation system is very good.

Such a nice experience. The musicians are high skilled, they made the music resonate with souls. I'm impressed and highly recommend for everyone to feel the Portuguese vibe. The glass of Porto vine is a cherry on the top of the cake)

Ideal clube de Fado is a warm inviting environment with talented artists ready to share their talent and background of this uniquely Portuguese art form. It definitely was a highlight of my trip to Porto!
