Parques de Sintra-Monte da Lua (PSML)

Tourist attraction

👍👍 The palace is nothing short of amazing and breathtaking. The most beautiful one in the area, in my opinion. Take a walk around the gardens for a relaxing experience. The entrance and exit are on a somewhat steep hill, so be aware and wear comfortable shoes. People often mention Sintra, beautiful, palace, gardens, visit, park, walk, garden, para, Beautiful,

The place itself is a very good visit. But the buses going there are small, do not fit a lot of people. Uber doesn't work that well up there. And taxis are sparse. So if it's busy, when you want to leave, you're in for a wait.

It’s a nice big garden and a sweet little palace. Worth a visit if you are ok with paying entrance.

If you’re in Sintra, you have to go here. It’s a not to be missed destination. Take 435 a bus from near the train station. This bus runs approximately every 20 minutes and return ticket costs 5€ p/p. You’d enjoy wonderful and peaceful gardens. This was a wonderful relaxing spot after the hustle and bustle of Pena Castle.

Maybe my opinion is jaded after having seen many castles across Portugal but the exterior of this one is definitely different and reminiscent of the Alhambra and Muslim sites, but the empty rooms and incomplete restoration left me a bit disappointed. It’s beautiful, certainly, but empty space where the memories of the past could be filling it?! Left a little to be desired. Also the gardens are mostly just gardens, the map isn’t useful, and the layout has nothing on Palácio Queluz.

I'd say this is the most beautiful place among all in Sintra. This palace is also the furthest away from Sintra's centre which makes it less frequented by tourists. We walked from Quinta da Regaleira but there's also a bus if you find a 3km walk too much. I would have stayed there for an entire day if I had the time but unfortunately we had to visit many others on that day. I'd say a minimum of 2 hours for a decent visit to this beautiful place if you want to enjoy the full landscape. Price for adults > 8 Euro/pers

Gorgeous place to walk around... both inside and outside. If you tour the whole property, it could take you about an hour depending on how much time you spend taking photos and observing. Beautiful plants to take in outside and glass, arches, and tiling inside.

If you absolutely love different plans and appreciate more flowers than architecture, then skip palaces and go right here from Sintra train station 2nd stop with bus 435. This place is absolutely stunning with it's size and huge variety of different plant species - from deserted to tropical plants. That garden with few big and small waterfalls is a true jungle paradise. Try to see it when weather is either rainy or about to rain, because there are much less people and plants looks better when they glow in rain! 11/10 will visit again.

An architecture that has went through various owners and represent one of the most notable Romanticism inspired landscapes in Portugal. It’s a well known retreat for writers who gets inspirations from the quiet environment surrounding the palace. We get to go through the different rooms to understand how the people in the past used the spaces for hosting parties, preparing meals, spent their times in rooms divided by genders. The ceiling of the ballroom is extremely detailed and impressive! Feeling like a princess walking through the royal corridor. Ticket to this palace cost 8€, 🤯 by the way, I love it that they have this QR code to scan and answer questions to win token. P/S: if you don’t like crowd like us, this would be a good place to begin cause it’s the furthest and most people would rush off for the popular palace first. Be prepared with lots of stairs.

Loved this place, not too busy so you can take your time walking around. The park offers plenty of shade on a hot day. The palace itself isn't that big but the stunning architecture 100% makes up for it. Note that there isn't a place to eat nearby! So take something with you and have a picknick :)

Always packed with people, lots of traffic and insufficient public transport. Tried to go from the village to Pena and after two hours had to gave up, and walk back to Portela de Sintra, with children and elders. Bought tickets in advance and no refund whatsoever. TURIST TRAP TO AVOID.

So far, my favorite spot in PORTUGAL!!! Apparently not many tourists like to come here when they visit Sintra because it is far from the station. That makes this place even more special cause it is not busy as Pena Palace. It worth every second and you can bring some food and make picnic in one of the tables outise the park or even in the green area.

  • 5/5 Miguel G. 5 years ago on Google
It's an incredible and charming place. The more you walk the more you love the flowers, trees and water fallings. Also, there are two lakes in front of the entrance of the park, upstairs going into the forest. We went at evening and it was amazing

Possibly the most beautiful place around Sintra and definitely the least crowded one! The garden was absolutely breathtaking, one could easily spend there a day just enjoying the nature. I'm really glad that we ended up going there, as it wasn't an obvious choice, being much less popular than Palacio de Pena for example. It did end up being our favourite place! A hint - the tea house actually has extremely good tea!

(Translated by Google) A shame! I hereby come to report what happened and to demonstrate the absolutely shameful behavior on the part of the Câmara de Sintra. On the 21st of October at 17.15hrs, our van was driving on rue barbosa du bocage when a tree fell completely on top of our vehicle, completely damaging its box. Since then we have made every effort to provide the requested elements (documents etc) and after 22 days of waiting, and with the van totally unusable, we received a communication from the Sintra Chamber indicating that it has no responsibility for what happened and that we should contact the "Parks of Sintra". In a country that is going through a pandemic, and in a company that pays all its commitments, taxes, it is a complete shame for the Sintra Chamber to act.

The Monserrate palace has been beautifully restored. It's a peaceful place away from most of the tourists in Sintra. The gardens are huge, lush and beautiful with waterfalls and different zones. We spent at least an hour just walking the gardens. Expect a hilly hike around them and that the direction signs are confusing. We loved it

It's okay, tour is much shorter than you'd imagine, and no photos are allowed inside. The place is rammed, and most rooms are gated off, only allowing you to peer inside from the doorway. It looks good from a distance, but the palace itself isn't worth the walk to get to it.
