Human faeces on all the toilet seats for the two days I was there, people kept climbing onto the balcony and into the room through the door (which wouldn't lock) and staff were rude, and unhelpful. I got shown to my room and then she walked straight off without any explanation. They didn't even tell me what bed was mine until I asked. You were only allowed to check-in between 1-2pm (not stated on website) This meant there was a massive queue and I was waiting for an hour. If I would've arrived past 2pm I wouldn't have been allowed to check in at all! The kitchen closed at midnight so I wasn't allowed to fill up my water bottle. There was mouldy food in the fridge, and the showers were dirty. Also no one at this hostel is friendly, I tried smiling and saying hello to other guests and staff but they all ignored me. There were also several signs around the area saying foreigners keep out. When I said to the front desk (which was very rarely staffed) I said I wanted to check out early they took the card out of my hand and said "okay, goodbye" so they must get it a lot. I was not offered a refund. If you want a more friendly welcoming hostel vibe look somewhere else!

Cheap price for a bed and a shower if that is what you need, BUT: everything stinks and they know it, there are some men that live in the shared rooms and don't shower, there was some kind of hostel men gang that kept coming into our bedroom until 1am talking, playing videos on their phones, opening the windows, talking to the stinky guy... it was cold, and all the hostel provided was a thin blanket, no top bedsheet. The bed was not comfortable and in my bed cubicle I found some random socks and an empty cigarette box. There was pee puddles in the bathroom and the kitchen utensils were not very clean. The staff didn't look like they wanted to be there... We booked for two nights but left after the first night, they offered to change rooms, but the whole hostel is a problem. Better to pay a bit more to get cleaner and better facilities and a better location.

I never saw a hostel like this! It’s disgusting. There are bed bugs and the rooms are in horrible condition. The bed sheets are dirty with blood and brown stains. There is no air conditioner in the rooms and the people from the reception told us to leave the door of the room open to sleep. The lockers where dirty and sticky with old dishes inside. The water was flooded with water. We asked for the clean lady go clean the bathroom but the workers at the hostel were just laughing about us. Check the pictures of google from people with bites from bed bugs after we stayed there. It was the worst experience in my life. We didn’t got any money back and made an early check out.

We came very early in the morning due to our early flight. They took our bags and when we simply closed our eyes in the hang out area because our rooms weren’t ready and we hadn’t slept the whole night, they told us we cannot fall asleep in here. The beds are okay, lockers provided but payed a deposit for the locker key which we didn’t get back. The toilets were men and women shared so it was pretty uncomfortable sometimes. The showers where inconvenient because there was nowhere in the shower to put your stuff so it wouldn’t get wet and the light constantly went off. Staff was okay but threw us out on check out day. Waled us up from the bed and told us we had ten minutes to get ready and pack and leave the room so that was unacceptable. Also the people were so weird there. Mostly old weird men who would stare at you or sit around all day at the same spot in the hostel. You can not drink the tap water in Barcelona so you have to buy water from the vending machine. For that you had to have coins so no paper money or cards.

Our stay at this hostel turned out to be quite unpleasant. To begin with, the hostel's location is extremely inconvenient, situated atop a steep hill, far from most places. Despite booking a family's private room through Agoda, upon arrival, the receptionist claimed our reservation was invalid and attempted to downgrade us to a single bed in a shared room. Adding to the frustration, the receptionist, who hailed from africa, was remarkably impolite and demanded extra payment for the private room. Frustrated by this treatment, we ultimately decided to cancel our reservation and filed a complaint with the authorities.

It’s a cheap place so of course it can’t be perfect. But at least if I give you my clothes to wash and I pay money for it just wash my clothes… I found them as dirty as I gave them to the receptionist, and when I complained asking for a refund she just started saying is not her problem bla bla bla.. really?!? Neve again, avoid this place go somewhere else.

Upon arrival we were told that we had separate rooms, although we had booked together. After asking they gave us a room together that smelled of smoke, but it hadn't any locker for our belongings, we were to put everything in the luggage room and ask for a key everytime we wanted to get something...in the end we at least got a room with lockers (which smelled horribly of smelly feet). In the night it was freezing cold, because the heater didn't work (it was February). In the men's showers there was mold all over the ceiling, in the women showers only one out of three was working properly. Every bathroom including the showers smelled like a mixture of chemicals and sewerage. Some "clean sheets" had hairs on it and the blankets were disgusting. You definitely shouldn't stay here.

STAY AWAY! Predatory behavior. Even if you book a fully refundable hostel through hostelworld and cancel, they will still charge your credit card and then you have to deal with getting it refunded from your card because they won't.

Very good hostels, the rooms are very comfortable ans everything is very clean. The only small issue is that it is à bit far from the city center but there are many buses that serve the area

DO NOT BOOK! Absolute worst hostel I have been to. The location is terrible. You have to walk up hills to get there and then climb up the stairs on a side of a mountain. If the tram is closed, which it is late at night, you're screwed. Very tough with luggage. The room was small and very tight. They fit 8 beds in a room that only took 6. My bed was dirty and the next morning I found that there was food and bread crumbs surrounding the mattress. The container in the bed that held personals was filthy. The light in my bed also did not work. The bathroom facilities were also in disrepair with multiple urinals and sinks out of order. In the end the entire floor had to share one toilet. The showers also didn't have any hooks or shelves to put your stuff. I instantly booked a different hostel the following day. The one good thing is that the beds were somewhat comfortable and had privacy curtains. I didn't get to enjoy it however as there was some Arabic guy yelling at someone over the phone at 8:30 in the morning. This was the worst hostel experience by far.

Location is a little bit annoying for foreigners, because you can reach this adres from different direction ( from above with bus number 117 and v23 , from under street by bus number 19 .. You have to practice that at least 3 times but the situation is beautiful and healthy amid mountain pine trees.. And you should know that you have to use 2 transportation to get to destination; 2 buses or bus + tram , also by coming back vise versa ..

According to barcelona stays prices, mellow hostel proposes a competitive price. I gave it 3 stars because of it's location and its hygiene level. The toilets smell bad. An other point, during the period we were staying in mellow hostel, there was a bunch of teenagers that made a lot of noise and this was so annoying especially in the morning and by nights. The rooms contain 6 beds, it was so hot and there was no air conditioning. Otherwise, the reception was pretty good though we arrived late at night.

i Have waited over 2 hours for a Room because the receptionist said She could not retrieve Money From booking. 2 hours later She ended up asking me to make a new payment to them which i refused. talked with 3 people:One man seems to have some intelligence, i would suggest you speak with him, the two other women i spoke with are just incompetent and i would like to add mischevious. Others customers have been badly served during my wait and some of course left the place, as i did. I got my Money back From booking even if It was non refundable because the receptionists couldn't do their job. Save you troubles, go elsewhere

A typical hostel, cheap, but really clean, literally someone were always cleaning the places when I was there. :) They didn't give towel and bedding (only sheets, pillow+pillowcase and a blanket). The area is good, from the room windows you can see the Tibidabo and it is close to buses and metros too.

People make it worse than it is in the reviews. It's the cheapest you can get in Barcelona so ofc it's nothing special. But it's clean, good service and closeby you can catch a good view on the city. Still too expensive for a shared dorm but that's Barcelona for you. (23,30€/night in 2023)

It is not close to the center. Takes about 25-45 minutes to get to the center and the beach area. There is the V23 bus that drops you right at the corner of the hostel, which is great when you have your luggage with you. Otherwise within 10 minutes walking distance (keep in mind the climb) there are other public transportation options. There is hot water, but the ladies bathroom sensory light is super annoying. Within seconds turns the lights off and doesn’t pick up the movement well, so you end up in the dark trying to wave all you’ve got to turn the lights on. The men’s restroom shower you have to constantly push the button or it turns off. No bathroom stalls lock. Showers only on first floor and bathrooms on every floor, so if you are on the 3rd floor you have to go down to shower and back up to your room Small kitchen and patio open till 10pm. Front desk not helpful at all or friendly. No maps, no idea how to get to places other than saying it’s on the internet. Bunk beds have privacy with curtains, and lockers are available. Keep in mind that it is not the cleanest and maybe because of its location the people trend to choose to stay here May not always be the most considerate.

The hostel is located half way between city center and the beach. Likewise most part of Barcelona, it's located on a hilly terrain

One of the best Hostels in Barcelona, Very clean, showers are nice and hot, kitchen was great although a little crowded at times, bed was clean and comfortable, Terrace is a great hang out to meet new people. The location was perfect, V23 bus 10 steps from the door. The staff are great and very helpful. I would highly recommend the Mellow Hostel.

Overpriced and dirty. The beds have blankets and pillows that have clearly not ever been washed. The men’s shower has linoleum flooring which stays permanently wet. When we asked the front desk to arrange for a taxi to take us to the airport they assured us that they would, but never did. Would not stay there again.

This is a hostel not a hotel so you exchange for a low cost luxuries. The beds are nice and you have a plug, a light, and two storage shelves, and you have a storage drawer under your bed. ALL nice. What leaves a lot to be desired is the bathroom when I stayed there there was one shower not working, the one urinal in the men's bathroom was out of order for all four days I was there. The cleaning of the bathroom on the first floor was less than desirable. The real problem here is the staff they are very nasty. I left my key on my bed and I got a big lecture from the desk clerk. When I mentioned this to the manager and the fact that other guests had checked out she said, "maybe you should too". Then on my final day after cleaning her calcium crusted kettle with my vinegar she screams at me. Then there was a flood in the kitchen and she said she saw me do it on the video taping system. I demanded to see the video, her reply, "leave or I call the Police.". INCREDIBLE. My lawyer paid for additional night which she refused to refund it to her. Finally, the location is remote and very hard to get a Uber or Ride Share service too. However, there are frequent city buses that pass by.

Overall its a Great Hostel to stay in , Rooms are pretty clean and the staff is nice , also an uncommon opinion : no doubt that the hostel is pretty far from the Centre but it is located on a hill with beautiful scenery and its so calm uo here.

The African staff member barged into my room at 11:30pm with guests and turned the whole lights on. I went up to turn it off again and he started piping up. So I told him that I needed to sleep, as I needed to be up extremely early. Full on having ago at him because he was being cocky! Threatening to cancel my booking. Remember who’s paying your wages🤷🏽‍♀️

Not very clean (don't pay attention to the photos) and sometimes food is stolen but it's comfortable, cheap and I met some nice people. My sheets were clean (guess I had luck) and you can avoid taking those "stairs to heaven" if you arrive sooner than 11 p.m.

The girls at the reception were extremely nice, positive and helpful. All of them spoke english very well and they were available 24/7. I want to mention Laura for her cheerful vibe and Masha for being a good talk partner at sleepless nights and her useful tips about spain.

It's overpriced for what it offers... when I checked it online it said around 20 euros and when I got there they told me 45.. the bed and pillow very uncomfortable too. It's ok as a last minute solution but it should be cheaper

Staff friendly and welcoming, hostel clean, neat and had a cheery vibe. Balcony in the room and lovely roof terrace with great views. The bunks were solid (always a blessing), with USB charging ports, light and curtains, clothes hooks and shelf - some of the nicest I've had in a hostel. Showers clean and great pressure :) A great stay all round! Only downsides: A little out of the way and up the hill from the city centre, although bus and metro run from nearby.
