I understand why this property has such a low rating. We are a couple attempting to apply for a 2-bedroom unit. They are dishonest with their fees and are trying to charge us double in administrative fees. I understand paying 2 application fees since 2 people will be living in the unit, but they're also charging us 2 administrative fees. I confirmed with the leasing agent we should only be charged once in administrative fees. I received a receipt of my payment yesterday, but they are claiming payment hasn't been received on their end. I received a quote for the unit we are applying for just a couple days ago indicating it was available for immediate move-in. I was able to open an application for this unit and submit payment. However, when I called for an update today, they claim that unit was taken off the market and availability of that same unit was unknown. Essentially, Vantage is just taking our money for a unit that isn't even available to rent. Do not rent from Vantage. They will try to scam you before you're even a resident.

I lived here for 15 months and was so initially excited, but boy was it overall a disappointment. There are definitely some pros like the view of the city, the location, and the amazing maintenance staff, but the cons were so bad that I could never recommend this place. - My unit was right beside the garbage shoot and the smell seeped in through the entire unit no matter what I tried. Air fresheners, candles, air purifier, requesting maintenance to clean the shoot… It was awful. - Walls are PAPER THIN. I had the displeasure of listening to my neighbor’s music, dogs barking, kids, bedroom activities, and casual talking as if there was no separation at all. Even when I filed a noise complaint, nothing ever happened. I could still hear them loud and clear in the bedroom with the door shut from the opposite end of the apartment. And I’m not talking muffled voices. I mean I could hear everything. Everything. - The package/mail system is a mess. The package room is unorganized and sometimes you spend 15 minutes looking for a package you know was delivered but cannot find it. Sometimes it’s not even in the package room. Sometimes it’s by the mailbox, sometimes locked away in a separate mailbox, sometimes by the entrance, or sometimes in the vestibule in the corner. Finding anything was a wild goose chase and many times it would take an extra day or two to show up somewhere. When I moved in I was told they were starting a system where packages would be delivered to our doors but that never happened. - On top of that, the shared utilities bills are insanely high. I had a one bedroom and the bill was around $200 per month. This didn’t even include electric. Fees for anything and everything are insane. Even my move out fee where I cleaned the unit was nearly $500. - Then when it came time to renew, there was a HUGE increase with no room for negotiation. I tried. The place was not worth nearly what they were trying to rent it for. Their ‘algorithmic pricing’ makes no sense and changes by the day without human intervention. It just leaves you feeling hopeless. - Moving out was awful. In order to move out you must reserve the single freight elevator for a 2 hour timeslot between 11am-4pm. That’s it. Those are the only times. I’ve never had movers so baffled when the best they could give me was a 3 hour arrival window which was already more than the allotted 2 hours I could reserve. I couldn’t even be the first move of the day since the earliest I could request the elevator was 11. I had planned a move time and date, then because of this elevator issue, had to completely reschedule. It was insanely stressful and I ended up having to pay more for my movers in order for them to accommodate these restrictions. This place is run like a company that just wants your money and they don’t hide it. There were times I could tell the staff had sympathy for me, but their corporate overlords did not allow them to help in the ways I needed. It’s a real shame since even with all the cons listed above, I was planning to stay. When I saw the renewal offer I laughed because it was so insanely expensive for what you get and what you have to put up with. Unless you’re super rich and don’t care about extra fees/noises/smells/whatnot, I would avoid this place. It’s honestly not worth the hassle or the money.

Tamesha Davis was a fantastic tour guide. She was able to squeeze us in last minute and showed us several units that are available. She was informative on things that are important to tenants such as pricing, parking, amenities, etc. She also explained how pricing for the units usually change after 3 or more days than what is listed online. She properly explained the application and move in process clearly and has become our number 1 place to consider moving into.

Amazing building and fantastic location. Previous staff (Karsen) was brilliant when I first moved Jan 2021. But the staff changed often since then and nobody seemed to know what processes or policies to follow. Randy was awesome and knows how well kept my place was. Move out process was horrible. They tried to charge for painting the entire apartment and random charges ($800) after moving but denied me a walk through when I inquired. I’ve emailed and called since January and have not received any resolution or response.

One of the worst experiences I've ever had apartment searching. We found their listing early in the week and the price had changed $500+ by the time we were able to tour on the weekend. I had also modified our tour time online and they told me they didn't have us in the system, but were waiting for the people scheduled at our time (who never showed - because that was our appt she was waiting on...) and could take us after. With a little flexibility in our apartment search & timing, we decided to wait and see if prices would come back down. Throughout that time period, we received automated generic emails and when I responded asking questions - they were not addressed and I received generic responses back. Today was the last straw when I was butt dialed from someone on their team & it came from their main number. In earlier conversations, we were told we would be personally notified when something in the price range we were looking for became available again (before the crazy price surge). Needless to say, even if it did, I don't think I'd want to live there if this how they handle potential residents. Also, as far as the actual building and living there is concerned - once someone gets in the front door (could easily walk in behind a resident and that person not wanting to be rude to another resident, letting them in) the elevator is not at all secure. We toured other similar buildings in the area and their customer service far exceeded Vantage. The views may be nice, but that's about it.

I am a former resident of Vantage Oak Park and overall had a great experience during my time there. The management team is amazing, and have always been responsive and helpful whenever any questions or other items come up. They also were very helpful during the move in/move out process, which made things a lot easier for us. Vantage also has a great maintenance team and work orders we submitted were almost always completed the next business day. Vantage has a great community vibe, and throughout the year the building occasionally host events for the residents for holidays or other special occasions, etc.

Tamesha was an excellent help with narrowing down my apartment search options. Her knowledge of the building and pricing helps my family to know when the best time works for our move. We are looking forward to seeing more of what Vantage has to offer.

Thus far we have loved our experience with Vantage Oak Park! Kyler and her team have been absolutely wonderful! We had a very short deadline to move in and she helped us in submitting the application and getting everything ready to go. Thus far we love the building.
