This comment is regarding the restaurant. Our family has been coming here for an annual event for 28 years. The fact that we keep coming back speaks volumes about all aspects of the Inn and restaurant. However, we have noticed a number of disappointing changes in the restaurant over the past two or three years. The menu choices have been declining, most notably with the pie. The pie serving size was reduced last year with an accompanying increase in price. This year, for the first time, we noticed a decline in the quality of the food. Things we would call "favorites" simply didn't taste like they did in the past. Menu items that we have considered outstanding have become rather "pedestrian." We will be watching to see if this disturbing trend continues or is reversed.

Had a lovely stay. The breakfast has tons of options and they have coffee and cookies always ready throughout the day. The bed and pillows are higher quality than most hotels and inns, we slept so well. Beautiful landscaping and walking/biking paths, and the pool and hot tub are well kept. I'd definitely visit here again.

We stay here 3 to 4 times a year. They graciously decorate the rooms and common areas with an eclectic fusion of Shaker and country styles. It is obviously designed to have a calming and introspective effect on all who make this a stop. I've entered this place with the weight of the day on my back and have exited with a peace of mind that is hard to describe. We prefer staying in the atrium rooms but have stayed in other parts of the hotel as well. Enjoy!

What a great place. The grounds were immaculate. The rooms very nice and everything clean. I'm so use to seeing overcharged rooms that look tired and old. This to me was a throw back to the days that there weren't any corners cut. It was about appearance. I would recommend any of my friends to come here.

Room was huge as I was traveling by myself. The bed was comfortable and offered a great view of the water. It's a fairly quiet area. Sadly, I didn't have time to stop in the quilt shop or anything but I would stay here again. The breakfast was good as well.

Our 5th wheel was at grand design for service. When we checked in we expressed that we may need to stay more than one night. Cheryl at the desk was a phenomenal help! Not only did she hold a room for one more night, but was able to get us into a handicapped room(having knee surgery next week) which made our stay more comfortable. When we checked out this morning she told us to call her if we needed to stay longer!

Check in was quick, staff was pleasant. My room was in the atrium which was nice but not as quiet since there were a lot of families. Beds were somewhat comfortable but didn't really get to sleep since I found a couple of bed bugs on my pillows. I left a note for the staff so hopefully they will do something about it. Wouldn't recommend to anyone until I knew they had the bed bug problem taken care of.

Hotel is beautiful. Not very much to do in this town. Good place to stop before your next town.

I had a great stay here. The hotel was clean and the staff was very friendly. They served biscuits and gravy for breakfast, as well as several other choices that were all delicious. We ended up extending our stay and the hotel was very accommodating and allowed us to stay in the same room. Definitely recommend them if you’re in the area.

We went here for my best friends birthday. We were entertained the entire time. We had a tour with horses and went to the Essenhaus restaurant and swam at the hotel. The pool was a great size and the hot tub was fairly large. Very clean place fully recommend for a vacation or just a night stay.

My goodness, awesome as always. Party of 20 family members, the oldest 74, the youngest 8. Family style dinner, baked steak was delicious, and all the sides. Tonya was our server...friendly, prompt, and gracious. Been coming here for over 40 + years.

Essay Haus is an Amish Restaurant and the Chicken Noodles are the best. Their buffet is very good. The worst part of their buffet is making sure you do not over eat. :)

We’ve been coming to the Essenhaus Inn for over 10 years, but haven’t visited since COVID. The Inn is just as clean and inviting as I remember it. Essenhaus is a perfect halfway point to meet family, which was the reason for our visit this time. We booked adjoining rooms, which allowed us to be close while also maintaining space and privacy. We stayed in a single king balcony room and it was attached to a single full Murphy bed room with a balcony and kitchenette. Together the two rooms were perfect for our two night stay with extended family. We love Essenahus because the rooms are incredibly clean, fresh, and updated while still maintaining a country charm. It’s the perfect spot for families! We spent lots of time in the common space on the second floor visiting and playing games. The pool and game room are wonderful for kids of all ages. Our little one loved wading in the shallow end stairs of the pool. The continental breakfast in the AM and coffee throughout the day is a definite added bonus! The location of the Inn is also ideal depending on the reason for travel. It’s not far from Amish country, but it’s not in the middle of a town center like Shipshewana. It’s also close to local town and county parks as well as small college towns like Goshen, Mishawaka, and Warsaw. We loved our most recent stay there and hope to be back to visit soon!

I love the boasted chicken! Unfortunately, it was very much overcooked. The skin was like leather. The wing and leg are very, very dry.

Stopped here for lunch while our RV being serviced. The food was very good, really enjoyed the turkey and fried chicken. Don’t forget to try the apple butter on their rolls!
