We
were
docked
at
Roatan
for
a
day
on
a
Holland
America
cruise.
We
tend
to
go
the
opposite
way
of
the
throngs
when
the
ship
disgorges
at
a
port-of-call.
So,
we
rented
a
car,
took
a
right
and
drove
away
from
the
main
town
and
drove
the
length
of
the
island.
After
poking
around
some
rutted
dirt
roads
and
visiting
a
couple
small
seaside
villages,
we
started
to
head
back
to
the
ship.
We
were
looking
for
a
place
for
lunch,
but
the
main
road
that
runs
the
spine
of
the
island
is
pretty
unpopulated.
There
was
a
road-side
market
that
we
stopped
at.
We
asked
some
of
the
local
folks
where
to
go
for
lunch.
They
enthusiastically
told
us
to
go
to
Cal's.
So,
we
drove
back
up
the
road
2
minutes
and
found
Cal's
tucked
away
back
from
the
road.
The
dining
"room"
was
a
covered
terrace
overlooking
a
large
valley.
It
was
a
wonderful,
unpretentious
place.
We
had
the
sea
bass
with
salad
and
fries.
The
fish
was
perfectly
done.
We
had
a
beer
or
two,
relaxed,
and
had
a
slow
lunch
(we
ate
slow,
the
service
wasn't
slow)
and
really
enjoyed
the
atmosphere
and
the
view.
This
is
not
a
place
that
many
folks
from
a
ship
go
to
for
sure.
Definitely
worth
seeking
out.
Memorable
experience.
