This was a horrible experience. Although the room was nice and the staff professional. There was construction, it started at 7 am and continued until 6 pm. It doesn’t look like it will be ending soon. In you Mr room at a the pool and on the beach it was everywhere. Horrible

Want to give 5 stars, but just can't. We had a fantastic stay. The snorkelling from shore was great - from super shallow right off the beach, to live reef deep blue just a short way off. I even got to see a sea turtle. The grounds were beautiful as well. No complaints on the room, food or service. Everyone was very nice, the room was up to date and immaculate, and the food was quite good. I have to take away a star for the stairs/walk to our suite, which was a little precarious and resulted in a fall, the deck of the room was a little bare bones (uncovered, all furniture inside in case of rain), a big ongoing construction that is a little noisy and visually takes away from the beautiful grounds, and the service though very good, lacked a real personal touch. With all of those issues, they still certainly deserve at least 4 stars. That's how nice the place and overall experience was. I try to be honest and don't give 5 stars as a default, but for perfection and this was very close but not quite. We will probably return. Want to add a big thank you to the staff who were very kind and helpful.

I usually wait until the END of a trip and I get back home, but although we have three more nights to sleep here, I feel totally at ease writing this review now. Aside from having great mattresses at home and NO Hotel being able to compete with that, we have NO complaints with our stay here; I could nitpick one or two things, but in the overall, it's not even worth it! From the caliber of guests that stay here, from the service in the restaurant, everything was AWESOME! Beach vendors weren't pushy, Carli that scheduled the tours was friendly and efficient! I absolutely LOVED their removable wristbands! We're not stuck showering in, sleeping in and wearing a wristband 24/7! We'd most definitely stay here again and again!

The grand Roatan resort is a nice place to get away and get some R&R. It’s right down by the beach and is partnered with west bay divers so you have the opportunity to snorkel and/or scuba dive (they were great!). I cannot stress how friendly the staff are at this resort, they will shuttle you almost anywhere such as picking you up at the airport (which is a half hour drive away) or take you almost anywhere you need for goods. If you need anything brought to your room or while your lounging around on the beach, the staff will make sure you are well taken care of. The most recently built spa in the area is absolutely beautiful inside and out. This is a place to get away and just relax. The included breakfast is very plentiful and in my opinion better then most other places. Now for the not so good. There’s only one restaurant in the entire resort (while others in the area have two or even three) the choices on the menu are rather… limited. on top of all this the food is unfortunately mediocre for what you pay. Luckily there’s restaurants walking distances away. The rooms overall were clean, the floors had some stains and the AC could’ve definitely been cooler, but not the end of the world. It’s a bit hard to lay around and enjoy the beach as there’s a constant stream of sellers walking up and down the beach trying to sell you one of a few things, Food (which Personally I don’t mind), shirts, bracelets, massages, and tours (there all the same). Now this alone wouldn’t bother me too much, however when a seller is walking up and down every 5-10 minutes (not exaggerated) asking you to purchase something when you just want to be left alone, can get rather annoying very quickly and ruin that R&R experience (This is going to be an issue with ALL the west bay resorts, not just the GRAND). Construction is still going on and it doesn’t seem like it will stop anytime soon, This never bothered me but I can see it being a major problem if you get unlucky enough to have a room right next to the site. Another massive issue is this resort has no ATM. There was one at the “mall” thats nearby but it unfortunately is out of order, and looks like it has been for quite sometime. Thankfully the resort next door had one and I was able to use theirs. With all this being said I think this is a great place to go and relax, however, there just seems to be a lot that could be done to make this place better, the biggest reason why this isn’t a 3/5 is the staff being as friendly as they are and trying to make your stay as convenient and enjoyable as possible. I would definitely recommend staying here to anyone who is interested, however keep in mind everything I’ve said above.

I didn't actually stay at this resort. We visited the beach here. It is a beautiful beach. I got a massage on the beach, and my family went snorkeling and jet skiing.

Couldn’t be more happy with our stay at the Grand Roatan — a part of Kimpton. Brittney was so friendly and nice. She helped us check into our amazing room with a fantastic view of the bay. Some tips: 1) while there is free drip coffee in the lobby in the morning, the espresso bar at the 2nd floor cafe has a “mod bar” machine that pulls amazing shots. Hot and cold drinks were both great. Cold brew was tasty and potent too. Definitely try the banana bread. 2) breakfast and dinner at the main restaurant were probably our best non-snack food on the island. Dania was wonderful with helping us pick the best breakfast items — omelette/frittata and avo toast. 3) they provide insect spray and sunscreen at the pool. be sure to use both!

The one thing that stands out - besides the beauty of this resort is the staff. I have never been around nicer people. I must name some! Teddie and Logan served our breakfast. Ceaser delivered lunch at the pool. Byron and Moses saw to our pool/beach needs. Byron was so helpful. Josh (bellman), Chris (shuttle driver) and Leah, Werdsel, and Belky (front desk) were kind and caring. Napoli cooked me up delicious chicken wings on an outdoor grill. My husband loved the lobster sandwich. Finally, the General Manager was hands on and a very warm woman. We had just got back from The Grand Bahama in Nassau and was treated like dirt by their staff. Never again. I want to go back to Kimpton’s Grand Rotan. The understated elegance, the lovely property, the reef/beach - but most of all I feel like I have friends there. Food? That is another review.

The Kimpton Grand Roatan Resort is a must if you ever visit Roatan. The architecture is great, the rooms are clean and neat. You can even go snorkeling practically a few steps in front of the hotel in the beach. Great for those looking to explore clear waters.

Came here to treat myself to for a solo Thanksgiving getaway, I was very excited, but Unfortunately, I was deeply disappointed in my stay and the way I was treated. First, when I arrived, the hostess who checked me in did not acknowledged my IHG status because I had booked through a third-party website. I have never had this problem in the past, but apparently this was not a status recognized by this Kimpton property. Next, I was taken to a room that was much farther in the back and far away from the main resort. When I entered the elevator of the building, I noticed a peculiar water damage or moldy smell. This same smell was in my room. When the bell man asked me if there was anything else needed, I mentioned that the smell was bothering me and asked if I could be moved to another room or have someone freshen up the room. He said he would see what he could do. After about an hour and a half of no response, I went back to the front desk, and I mentioned to the same hostess that the smell was bothering me. She said she would take care of it and check back with me after I had Thanksgiving dinner in the restaurant. The dinner was nice, but I feel like I was being rushed by multiple wait staff as evidence by not even finishing my drink and someone offering to take it for me. When I returned, she moved me to another room on the same floor, but the same smell issue was there. At that point, I was too tired to bring it up and I decided to take a shower and go to bed. When I went to the bathroom, the shower was visibly soiled as evidenced by hair and from another person. I tried to call the front desk, but there was no phone in this room. I am not sure if this was by mistake, or if they did not want to speak with me, but I found it odd that there was no phone to contact anyone in this room. By this time, it was already past 1 1 pm and I did not feel safe walking up to the front desk, so I went to sleep. Despite sleeping in the room, completely covered, I woke up to multiple mosquito bites on my legs, hands, and side of my cheek. The next morning, I went to the front desk to mention my issues and a different receptionist apologized and said she would move me to a room in the main building. I had already booked a tour for the day, but when I returned that afternoon, I was quite surprised to find that the room in the main building was far cleaner and did not have any moldy smell that I mentioned the night before, nor where there any mosquitos in this room. Although I am grateful that I ended up in a better room eventually, I am disappointed that I had to ask multiple times to receive adequate treatment. I believe that I was treated with discontent and as a second-class citizen at this property. Had this issue had been resolved earlier, I would not have had such a bad experience and would not have multiple mosquito bite marks on my body. As an avid traveler, I would hope that this issue is not a reflection of many Kimptons, abroad, but I am very wary about this hotel chain treats people like me, a black woman, abroad. *************************************************************** UPDATE: The hotel manager reached out to me personally and apologized and addressed the situations that I encounter. I really appreciate this because most hotels do not take time to address every concern of a guest, but this one did. I would recommend this hotel again and encourage anyone thinking of going to Roatan to stay here.

Joshua and his tour guides gave us an incredible experience. We were able to snuggle sloths, monkeys, parrots and enjoy a thrilling ATV ride through the island. Everyone agreed this was our favorite day ☺️

Very cool resort. If you like scuba diving or just swimming, this is the place for you. The reef is super immaculate espicially when you get to the drop off. The service was very good and the room was great. Thanks Grand Roatan for making an amazing trip even better! (Visited in August 2022)

The resort blew my mind, it’s so nice! The pictures don’t do it justice. If you have the funds to book here and are on the fence about spending the extra money, do it!! Excellent amenities like gym and pool, great staff, good service. It’s a paradise here. Also, the snorkeling from the front of the hotel is phenomenal, literally world-class. You have to swim a couple minutes until you’re greeted by coral and fish.

We visited for the day to use the beach and snorkel. Security was there and watched or belongings while we snorkeled and shopped. Food was great. Service from bar was great. All was great.

Be careful with this restaurant at the beach. They include the tip in the bill, and if you pay with card, they include another 10%. They make you also pay the tax twice. They take the shade even though the beach is public area. Dishonest people.

We cannot say enough great things about our time at the Grand Roatan Resort. The room with a great view, outdoor shower, and drinking water cooler was perfect. The beach, restaurant, pool, and all of the staff were top notch. Malcom gave us the best private island tour. We'll definitely be back. Thank you!

My family stayed 4 nights at the resort which included new years eve. We spent the Last two nights in the spa suite which was absolutely amazing. We had a gorgeous view of west bay from our large comfy balcony surrounded by tropical vegetation. We saw 20 minutes worth of an amazing firework display on the beach from our balcony at midnight. The entire staff was very accommodating. However, Rafael Reyes the excursion coordinator was The Best. We went on two amazing excursions arranged by Rafael. He was able to arrange private excursions before we actually arrived to Roatan. I texted him with any questions or concerns i had, He was the Best. For the first excursion we wanted to take a private boat trip. They provided fresh fruit/snacks/ice chest full of drinks/beer/water. We went to cayos cochinos/saw where they film the show Survivor. We went snorkeling and exploring small islands/had a fresh fish meal with the garifuna community and on our way back the captain showed us how to fish. He even offered to make fresh ceviche with the fish that was caught. I was so glad we paid a little extra for the private tour, we saw a group tour with 30 people jammed into an old boat, looked very unsafe. The next day we went on a customized all day island excursion. We love animals and plants and hiking. We had a private driver and tour guide Alberto who gave us alot of information of the island, took us to West end/walked the town/ visited the chocolate factory/stopped into some souvenir shops. We stopped at an animal park and an exotic animal farm where we had private tours and were able to hold/touch monkeys/sloths/macaws/ostrich, ect.. The next stop was hiking thru a tropical botanical garden/rainforest seeing a variety of tropical plants and hiking up to the top of the mountain seeing a beautiful view of Roatan. He then drove us to eat the delicious native King crab/ceviche/and delicious seafood soup that Roatan is famous for. Our last stop was a sunset mangrove boat tour at the other end of the island. We stayed on the beach in front of the hotel on our last day. The hotel provided beach loungers/umbrellas/Drinks and food were served on the beach. The snorkeling was the best in the water in front of the hotel. We saw so many different beautiful fish. And there was a staff member at the hotel that took us out on the beach, snorkeling early in the morning to show us sea turtles/flounders/sting rays and Amazing coral reefs. We booked massages and facials for the late afternoon and were very pampered and relaxed. In summary highly recommend the Grand Roatan. It had the Best beach location, amenities and the best staff

We came with scuba group Submerged from Maryland - this was our first time at the resort though members of our group had been before. Our stay was FANTASTIC. The level of service was extraordinary. We stayed in a junior suite which was spacious and clean. The restaurant was excellent - open air with a beautiful view of the ocean - the water was at most 30 feet from us. West Bay Divers is the "in house" dive shop - our dive trips were fantastic with a level of service I had not experienced before - literally everything was taken care of for us by Barney, Megan, Ava , Edwin, Colby and Angel. We are coming again soon !

Im here now and to be honest I can’t agree with some of the 5 star reviews of this place. The resort is small and there is construction making it not the best option. The grounds are a bit of a mess. That said the beach is beautiful and it’s the clearest water I’ve ever seen, and the restaurant has some good food and good service.

I didn't stay at the hotel, we just ate there and went to the beach. Amazing staff. Luisa, Mauricio, and Alan from the restaurant were excellent. Denisa and Jordan from the spa were all amazing people along with our message therapist. Good food especially the bacon and shrimp wrap and breakfast buffet Will be back!!!!

🫤 First what we didn't like:, I want to start by saying we are all American couple with no kids, other people may have a different experience. But, for us, it was too loud, too crowded, too chaotic. Loud pulsing music in the dining room, crowded pools with children throwing things are just not what...
