As of Jan 2023 (so check out more recent reviews in case things have changed) this shopping centre is a disgrace. Sad, empty, uninspiring and simply awful. Gave it two stars, not one, as I feel sorry for the (few) retailers struggling to sell and remain cheerful. Oldham deserves better!

It’s so sad to see how the Spindles has turned out. Being nostalgic tonight and not living in Oldham anymore, and looking at the recent photos of most shops closed, just shows the corruption and greed on Oldham Council. Shame on you. Many years ago, you could have put a stop to greedy landlords rent rises keeping these shops in businesses and the shopping centre bustling. You saw the profits on business rate increases and tax profits rather than looking at the longevity of the profits. People being in business longer makes you more money in the long run. When I was a kid it was always busy and couldn’t wait to go to town, now I wouldn’t want to take my kids here. I hope you treat the market stalls better than you’ve treated past businesses.

Nice little shopping centre. Its always sad how there are so many empty shops as the online market grows, looks although there is still some on going renovation going on which is positive to see. Look up when your in the shopping centre the stained glassed windows are quite beautiful. Got a bit confused in the carpark but this was largely due to the fact that they all seem to have their own way of doing things easy enough if you've been once already. Worth a visit if your in the area !

I could waste time waxing lyrical about how it is not looking like it used to but times change and the centre HAS TO if it's going to stay relevant to shoppers' needs today. Sure there are definitely some store types missing, but other places are only a bus/tram ride away to fill that gap. If Oldham fills the gap as part of its regeneration then I can't see much reason for going elsewhere for shopping. It's not too big a place to shop in, nor is it too small. It's just right.

I went asiana clinic and aesthetics with my family as my wife was getting her lashes and I was waiting outside the shop with my 2 sons it was frighing experience seeing that two lady's came at Asiana clinic and started fighting and shouting at the staff and trying to attack on them. My wife always go there to do her eyebrows and lashes and the staff are so friendly and welcoming I feel sorry for the staff at asiana clinic it was very upsetting to see the management helpless there should have called for backup I hope these lady's get banned from spindle Oldham.

Not enough shops the place has been taken over buy the council and there offices and there putting even more offices in the new part that is supposed to be a new market and food court waste of time going there

Easy to access but I've noticed over the years it's declined in popularity in oldham Town center.more ppl seem to be staying @ home 🏡 ordering food online aswell as clothing, electrical etc .it's not as good as it used to be ! .Internet has took over.

We visited Pandora to pick out a present for my wife's birthday. Staff were great. The Spindles itself was depressingly quiet. So many of the shops closed and areas completely boarded off. Very sad to see

Place used to be great but since COVID shops are closing down at speed. It's like a ghost town when u walk through now. Such a shame .had many trips here over years there was some great shops but I think spindles days are numbered now.

Went to get the other half's eyebrows done and phone sorted, so didn't necessarily go for my own needs. It is a typical town centre shopping mall but there's pretty much everything you need in and around one place. If you can't get it in Spindles itself, you can get it in shops (& Marketplace) nearby.

Although there's still a lot of works going on with Refurbishing the Spindles Shopping Centre, there are still so good shops still open.

Alterations going on & the escalators are out of action in some areas. They is still a good array of shops & bargains to be had. Looking forward to seeing the end results.

There aren't many shops in there. Not enough lifts so people with buggies and disabled people usually waiting in queues for the one lift at the front entrance. Should just install a ramp to get to the lower floor rather than having the steps going down, seems like there's enough space. It's pretty depressing walking around in there. H&m is gone so other than Primark there aren't many low cost clothes shops. A lot of people in Oldham seem to wear the same clothes as each other, especially trainers, probably because there's only one shop to buy them(JD) , and most locals seem to go Primark or Topshop for their clothes.

A rather tired shopping mall in Oldham that seems to be more useful as a cut-through from the tram stop to the high street than as a shopping centre in its own right. Other than an excellent and very large Boots chemist store, there is little incentive to wander around, especially as half of it seems unoccupied or under redevelopment at the moment. Not one of Oldham’s finest attractions…

  • 5/5 Nadim S. 1 year ago on Google
Great asset for Oldham, would be good if there were more small traders food stalls who could keep prices down by having competitive space rentals.

Oldham spindles nothing really stands out unless you're going for a Pacific purpose and shopping mind he could use a few more entertainment stores it's nice and bright inside a wide opening feeling

Abit of a dive atm. I see work is being done so will see. I used the mens toilet. Thee worst place in the building! No way is that maintained or ever cleaned! It absolutely reeks! Have zip my jacket up over my nose! Vile! Arndale toilets doesn't smell and has wayy more use the spindles toilets. So no excuses why they aren't maintained

I went there quite numerous times. Before I was a college student (2003-2007), it was very good; when I was a college student, it was good; now it has gone from very good to poor. Only a few shops are open in the mall. I want the good old days back.

Place is boarded up and not as many shops as there use to be. Apparently there's a big plan for Oldham town centre..... It seems to be taking forever.

  • 3/5 Danielle H. 4 months ago on Google
Not much going on here any more plus if you have a pram or wheelchair it takes ages to finally get the kids to stop playing in the lifts so you can move around floors

  • 3/5 Steven M. 5 months ago on Google
The only reason I gave it a 3 is that there is a lot of building work going on. This affects the Christmas displays, IE: no tree (yet). Also, it affects the passage of people. But, apart from that, a really busy place and worth a visit

Plenty of parking space on all levels which was good and became self explanatory when going inside as half of the shops are empty, lots have relocated to smaller units probably because of rising costs. It was like a ghost town👻

Looks like it’s heading in the wrong direction, there wasn’t many shops looks like there is a lot closed and no new tenants due to how the high street is heading which is a shame as always seemed a good spot to go. Trespass, the works and entertainer are in here and also spotted a costa coffee but there ain’t much choice which is a shame. Hopefully it gets the investment it deserves and the empty units get filled.

Very empty shopping centre now that's barely hanging on. Worth a visit if you are nearby and need clothes, books or a phone contract but not a spectacle for tourists anymore. All the things that made it unique have been ripped out and replaced over the years. Also I was almost trapped in the other week. The shopping centre shuts at 17:45 and I thought I would cut through the side entrance near bus station to get to the cinema out of the parliament square exit. It was 17:40 so I had plenty of time before they should begin shutting and it only takes a minute or two to get through. At around 17:41 I was stopped by a guard near WHSmith and told to turn around and leave the way I came in. I started turning back and they started locking that door as well. I turned back and the same security guard got angry with me so I tried to leave via the exit near Sainsburys which was also locked. Another member of staff had to unlock it and let me out. Terrible service for what should have been a quick cut through. In future don't start closing until the time you are actually due to actually close and teach your staff to listen instead of just repeating themselves in a louder voice. We're not all drunken yobs.

It's OK! Same type of shops that are in most shopping centres. It has parking , public toilets & security. A mixture of cafés clothing shops , post office , book & jewellery shops. Some shops are vacant ...Representative of some shops struggling to survive!

Variety of shops, even though its not what it used to be 20+ years ago (declined to some extent) its still good to go and be able to get the stuff u need rathef than travelling further away to another locationn

My very first visit to Oldham Town Square, I loved it, plenty of well spaced out shops, not too busy, people very friendly and happy to help me find my destination. Parking OK, think I would struggle on a busy day though, not knowing the area and best places.

Awful, depressing place with more vacant shops than actual stores operating. Poor security, scruffy. Escalators always broken and automatic doors only work or in use occasionally causing people to have to go in and out of a relatively small area. Not a covid conspiracy theorist but hardly ideal having so may people in bottleneck so close in proximity. Oldham and the spindles in particular needs many millions spending on it. It's a disgrace.

Like a ghost town. Many shops closed (I can see why) once such a nice busy place to shop, but looks run down. Glad I was only passing through

Hey yo.. in case your wondering the answer is no (i never get paid for writing these reviews)...Good ole Spindles. In Oldhams town centre.. I paid a pretty recent visit to spindles. Wasnt a bad experience at all its been ages since i went there. This place has gone through some changes over time. You can shop til you drop now and never get wet. Still seems like a place where your likely to buck up old friends and lost acqaintences. Spindles is one of those places where its like a one stop for all the shopping you need but beware of spending more than you budgeted for. Oldham apart from the few is a very sociable place. Spindles has it all and is always worth the trip i could write a list of store names but i think that may spoil the mystery of a spontaeneous visit.. Trust me Spindles has it all. See you there soon. Spindles always worth the trip wether you need a new phone, some new clothes, shoes, or a wedding present, maybe that birthday gift or the weekly shop. Good parking and bust stops close by, also convenient tram stop.

Very boring shopping centre. Clean, decent bathrooms, and not busy. There’s a boots, other cheap stores and a random Pandora. I came mainly for the bodycare as we don’t have one close by south. Best thing was the cinnamon roll place- AMAZING

I went shopping in spindels shopping centre today 21/09/2022 On walking from the top level to find the escalator fenced off no sign pointing this out had to walk back to go down to the next floor on doing this exactly the same thing had to clamber up the stairs to gain exit of the building .I have watched the whole of Oldham deteriorate over the years a absolute dump of a town centre from what was world class at one time this is the result of a council run by people who think they know best what is good for the town takeaways on every corner and overpriced parking and scruffy surroundings

  • 1/5 B R. 1 year ago on Google
Shocking oldham used to be very busy and had a brilliant town centre, and great night life ,unless u like takeaway food ,nothing ,definitely not catering for all the people of oldham, council has ruined the town

  • 2/5 Alan B. 1 year ago on Google
So many empty units can't see it being much of a shopping centre when they've finished putting offices in there. No real selection of shops, at least 6 phone shops, 6 jewellery related shops, 4 coffee/food outlets and the post office inside W H Smiths is the worst post office ever always big queues never enough staff. Have just watched a video of the new Council office space where Peacocks used to be very nice someone's looking after themselves pity they don't lower rents on the empty units and try and attract some better retailer's, the old saying I'm alright Jack comes to mind.
