A lovely old church with beautiful architecture and surrounding cemetery grounds. A nice place for a little walk or somewhere to sit in peace. We visited on a Saturday afternoon when they had free walks up the bell tower and free afternoon tea. They were raising funds for motor neuron disease and asked for a donation from the afternoon tea which was all made by the volunteers. The volunteers where lovely people and lovely to chat too.

What a lovely way to spend an hour or so on a Sunday, climb the tower, see the campanologists at work (especially Ray, I think his name was for the demonstrations) then tea and cake afterwards. This may be free but please make sure to make a generous donation.

Beautiful little church in the heart of the town centre. Dates back to the 11th century, well a place of worship has been on the site since then. It’s always nice to see them lighting it up at Christmas and for remembrance too. Would like to see an Easter version of the projection too.

A truly wonderful and welcoming church with a real family vibe. The grade 1 listed building is stunning and the clergy & parishioners are incredibly friendly and approachable.

We visited on Sunday afternoon with the specific aim of ascending the tower. As a group was already exploring we were invited to try the tea and cakes which were delicious. (Voluntary donation to charity) I can thoroughly recommend them! Access was via a very narrow staircase with quite deep steps but there were substantial ropes to hang onto. Guides were at both the front and rear. It was an enjoyable experience. The view from the top of the tower was worth the ascent with views over to Manchester, Wales and the Peak District. Young children would find the climb a real challenge but older ones would find the challenge fun.

Lovely church that allows you to go on a tour to the top of the tower including bell ringing part way up. Lovely refreshments await at the bottom for great causes..

No Sunday lie in for anyone within 2 miles. 9am Bell ringing has taken its toll on family members mental wellbeing working irregular hours. Why do they insist on 9am ??

This Grade I listed Paley & Austin church looked beautiful in the Spring sunshine. Unfortunately it was locked so I couldn't look inside. Have to check when it's open & make sure I go back.
