My
mom
is
82
years
old
and
she
fell.
I
took
her
to
the
hospital’s
emergency
room.
I
had
to
wheel
my
mother
into
the
exam
area
and
I
had
to
help
her
go
to
the
restroom.
I
also
had
to
help
her
get
onto
the
bed
from
the
wheelchair.
The
hospital
staff
member
stood
and
watched
me.
When
my
mom
was
discharged
with
a
broken
knee,
they
told
me
to
push
my
mom
in
her
wheelchair
out
to
where
our
car
was
parked
by
the
valet
parking
The
hospital
sent
a
prescription
to
our
local
pharmacy,
and
because
it
was
a
controlled
substance,
and
it
was
out
of
stock,
I
had
to
call
the
hospital
and
ask
for
it
to
be
sent
somewhere
else.
I
was
told
by
an
emergency
room
nurse
that
I
needed
to
call
around
and
see
what
pharmacies
might
have
the
drug
available
and
call
them
back.
Her
exact
words
were,
“You
need
to
do
the
legwork.”
I
am
a
very
unwell
person;
therefore,
I
have
been
inpatient
at
several
hospitals
in
Chicago.
I
have
never
been
treated
as
poorly
as
my
mother
was
treated
at
this
hospital.
Sadly,
we
don’t
have
many
options.
This
was
a
terrible
experience.
