I stopped at this store with a friend on last week. We weren't looking to buy anything, but to check out the exotic pets. This was my first time here and it was amazing. There were lots of various kinds of fish I had never heard of before. My fave were the neon fish. They looked so pretty in the tank glowing and swimming about. There were some tanks that had spiders, frogs, snakes, lizards and other reptiles. Many of these tropical world pets I'd never heard of, but it was very nice to see them in their habitats. All the amazing species and colors I was in awe. There were a variety of sizes of fish tanks available for purchase as well as all the accessories such as greenery ( some was live), rocks, wood pieces, stoned and all the stuff that keep the fish living and the tank pretty. Looking at all this stuff in here made me realize that I need to create me a fish tank one day. I've always loved them, to look at them for hours, but I've never even tried to get one at my residence. It won't be today, but I will get a nice tank and this is the store I will purchase my fish and tank items from. If you're stopping in this store just checking out the pets gave me life. I don't know a lot about fish, reptiles and tanks, but this looked like the place to be to create that water home. Go and enjoy. The kids will love it as well. There's ample parking out front with wheelchair accessibility to enter the store, but the inside isles are not equipped for wheelchairs. The isles are not as wide and the store is very crowded with supplies all around. Some is not very well organized and may be part ways in the isles. So keep this in mind if you're in a wheelchair needing to visit this store. #Tonetta

I love this store! Tropical world pets has species you can't find at the chain store. And, the employees actually know what they are talking about. This isn't to say all chain store workers are ignorant about the animals. But it's a gamble. It's never a gamble at TWP. This store focuses on fish, reptiles and amphibians. And arachnids. But seriously come to TWP for anything else. This store has the healthiest feeders. The coolest decorations for tanks, the best variety of fish foods and herp cages. These guys and girls know their stuff. The music is also amazing in there 🙌 😍

I bought a jumping spider and six crickets by the time I got home four of the crickets where dead and the jumping spider was not housed properly. the man who helped me was very rude did not care to answer any questions that I had. he had no information on the spider which is a little disheartening because I wanted to make sure it was getting the best care. when I went back to have the crickets replaced the two people that where there were very nice not sure what was going on with the guy earlier but it definitely needs to be addressed. when you work with animals people expect you to be able to answer questions.

I've been to just about all the pet stores in the St Louis area and know this is the "Best Pet Store Ever!". The staff are Friendly, Knowledgeable, Customer Oriented - going the extra mile to find exactly what you want and are happy to do it. Tropical World Pets Store has the one of the largest selection of African Cichlids, as much as or more than the well known North County Specialty Store that's very Expensive. Its a win win win because you can rest assured the fish are healthy. They stand behind them for a week vs 24-48 hours like all the other stores have. Very impressed with their extensive Inventory, prices, knowledge, cleanliness and Very Friendly Staff. I can't say enough but before you buy, stop in here and check this place out. You'll be happy you did. 5-Star, A+ Seller

If your into fish or reptiles, Tropical World Pets is the place to go. Best selection of fish and reptiles you'll find in the St. Louis area. Hard to find pets, tons of supplies for your needs. They don't have it? No problem... they even special order to make life easy. Chuck and Mark are two of the nicest guys you'll ever meet, with the knowledge to help you succeed in keeping your pets happy. When it comes to reptiles and the knowledge of all their live stock, Jenny is the one to seek out. That girl is a savant in her field of expertise. The whole staff is friendly and try and help all costumers be happy and understandhowto care for your new pet. How many places stay open as late as them? I'll tell you, none! And they even stay open late on Sunday. Some fish stores around here aren't even open on Sunday. Its called dedication and thats something I look for. But don't take my word for it. Grab the family and make it a trip. You'll be surprised at the excitement your kids or your partner will have just looking at the animals. And that alone is worth a trip in.

A high quality pet shop especially for fish and aquarium needs. You can tell they take very good care of their aquariums, all of them are a little ecosystem in themselves. They are THE place I get my fish from because it's that amazing. And nice/helpful employees too👍

I’ve been coming here for months to get my feed for my python and tarantulas. The store seems a bit packed and unorganized at times. There are usually empty terrariums stacked against the window because there is no shelf room. They have a good display of fish and arachnids however they are limited on their reptiles. Their pricing is standard, similar to other pet stores. The staff here is super friendly and knowledgeable about what they sell. The store is clean for the most part. This is a recommendable local pet shop.

I absolutely love this place! We rescued some turtles from a bad situation but didn't have a clue what they would need to be happy and healthy in our home. The employees were knowledgeable and patient while I asked million questions 😆 they also helped me select items to get the most bang for my buck. Highly recommend this place for all your fish and reptile family members needs!

This place is amazing! Went to persmart so many times getting fish, being told they’ll work, and then they just fought or died of stress. This place took one visit and now my tank is the happiest thing ever! Will definitely go here for all fish related care!

The best ! I appreciate all the advice and support this crew gave me while I learned how to properly take care of my Axolotls & new tanks. Always helpful, always kind (even when my rants and questions are dumb), they’ve even offered to assist me while I’m out of town to make sure my aquatic pets are well taken care of. I super appreciate EVERYONE here ! Thank you !

Do not shop here. They house multiple bearded dragons, which are territorial solitary animals, in one enclosure. Multiple people have witnessed the dragons fighting. It’s not IF they’ll kill each other, it’s WHEN. This is not okay. Can you imagine if a little kid saw this happen? You should know how to care for the living things you are selling.

Easily my favorite local pet store, if they don’t have it in stock they will order as soon as available again. They are very accommodating to your wants and needs. As for the bearded dragon pit people are upset about… they are all females and have never shown any sort of aggression towards each other in the many of times I have come to the store. All of them are extremely healthy and well taken care of. If an employee doesn’t know an answer to a question they always find someone working who will.

I purchased about $450 of fish from this store. Three gorgeous adult Discus and three Clown Loaches. It takes a highly knowledgeable and dedicated staff to keep Discus healthy & prosperous as I saw in their tanks. The Discus are thriving in their new 75 gallon home; however, one of the Clown Loaches appeared very ill and died a couple weeks later. At a price double the box stores like PetSmart/Petco and being the best freshwater store in the region (Trust me.. I have been to them all), I expected a bit more. That being said, I will still be back for years to come and highly recommend this LFS (Local Fish Store!) If you want to get into the hobby, there is no better place to start.

This is a really great store for fish and reptiles. Everyone is very helpful and knowledgeable. We use them for boarding our bearded dragon, and have bought lots of fish- never any problems.

Awesome source for quality reptiles, supplies and info. They WILL have what you need! (Service Dog friendly - but keep your dog on its best behavior. This is a special place - be responsible so everyone has a good experience!)

The staff has all been friendly and knowledgeable. They definitely take the time to provide education and answer our questions. They have a vast fish variety and their tanks are well-kept. Each tank has a separate water system. I have never seen a dead fish, which is a breath of fresh air compared to PetCo. Their water quality checks are thorough. It just seems like everyone who works there genuinely care about us and their pets.We will never go to another pet store for our fish and supplies because they are just amazing.

Looks a little run down, but good people, honest value. Sometimes not the best selection of fish. Much better than big chain places any day.

Carry a variety of fish, reptiles, decor, and supplies. The staff was nice, but their knowledge was pretty limited. They didn't have hardly any live plants for sale and the ones they did have were covered in snails. Not a bad place to go, just not the best. They do have a nice selection of Frozen food which is hard to find. I would also avoid buying bearded dragons here as they are keeping them together, even adults, which is not good. Update- do not buy plants from here! After buying live plants my tank now has velvet. I'm hoping my frogs and fish pull through. I wouldnt buy anything living from here. Only use as a supply store for packaged products.

We have been coming to Tropical World Pets for over 4 years. The staff are very knowledgeable and have an amazing amount of patience with kids and all their questions. Great little place for kids who love animals. You can easily spend 30 minutes to an hour checking out all their animals and then indulge in a snow cone from the vendor in the parking lot.

Always a great experience. Engaged staff constantly working on aquarium changes. Very helpful with recommendations every time I walk in.

This place was packed on a Sunday so it seems to be a popular store. We went to browse and really enjoyed looking at the fish and reptiles. They have a great selection and the prices seemed comparable to other pet stores. It was a little messy with stuff in the wrong places and stuff in the isles on the floor (I actually tripped twice) but I'm not surprised with the big crowd that was shopping there today. I would go back, and I just might go there to purchase an aquarium.

I called and asked if they had frozen medium rats with colored fur. The employee I spoke with was kind and knowledgeable, and when I arrived to buy the frozen rats the price was excellent. I'll be buying my snake food here as much as possible!

First time patronizing this establishment. The employees were very knowledgeable and happy to assist with all my questions. They have a great selection of everything the fish and reptile hobbyist might need.
