We had the grilled cheese with a burger patty added 🍔 It was pretty alright but not very seasoned or flavorful. Their food isn’t that memorable unfortunately but the place has a great vibe. Wish the live music started sooner and it would be incredible if they had a live jazz night. ✨🎺🎷🎼🎶🎵🎸🥁

I really like this place. I used to have *meet-n-greets* here. It is a fun bar with pool, games,, and great food. I am not dating anymore~ Yet, I currently love to wander down on Sundays for mimosas, and yummy snacks at the bar. There are always lots of sports and things playing on TV, good music, nice atmosphere, and happy patrons. Nice bar staff- good food.

A lot of fun, and a reasonably priced place. I can’t believe that they are so reasonable about prices on quality drinks and food and content to have a fun atmosphere. Most places would charge double, and the fact that A Bar Named Sue is doing the opposite makes me love them

Awesome atmosphere and customer service. So much fun! Our server was attentive and friendly, the bar was so busy but she was amazing. The bar manager was helpful and so much fun. This is a great place...we will be back!!!

Killer service and surprisingly good food for a bar. Not quite a dive, but it certainly emanates the spirit of one. You’ll see people in their late 20s to mid 30s. Also, you can’t go wrong with their free bar poker.

A quirky name matched by the first sight of a Johnny Cash poster and other kinds of memorabilia throughout the bar. Crowd is very college community based and has a LOT going on - beer pong, ping pong competitions, darts, billiards, karaoke, etc. The staff was polite. We didn't explore the menu as much as we usually do, but the fried pickles were meh. Drinks were relatively on point.

Larger space than the facade alludes to. Once in the front door a staircase descends to a very large basement bar with a large bar and plenty of tables. Typical working-class bar with darts, pool, and karaoke. Service is good at the bar but terrible at tables. Food is fairly average bar food. Kitchen didn’t look really clean as i passed the entrance, but I’m not positive that I could report any serious issues. The bathroom (women’s) could use a scrubbing. There was plenty of toilet paper and soap, hot water worked. Overall, it was a fun place for a couple of beers, but get dinner before you go.

Me and my lady had a pretty good time the first time we checked it out. They had free games which was nice. We wanted to shoot pool but the 2 tables never opened up so we decided to try out shuffleboard and it was fun to play for a change. I cant comment on the food we didn't order anything.

Definitely a younger crowd that gets rowdy after 10:30. Beer pong was nuts. Tons of awesome games to play from ping pong to shuffle board. The food was tasty. The drinks were decent. Everyone seemed to have a great time. Ping pong tournament seemed a bit uppity and the beer pong dude M.C. guy was coming off really annoyed and upset. He was a bit annoying. He talked too much and complained.

Pretty fun place. We're an elderly couple, but we always feel welcome by the staff, and enjoy the atmosphere with the younger group. They have some pretty good bands. Not like the music we grew up with, but it's great to learn new styles of music.

Went to see a show and this bar turned out to be another gem hidden in a strip mall. Spacious downstairs place has food, lots of tables, a huge selection of beer and liquor, as well as a pretty decent stage area. Staff were nice and friendly, they take drink orders from the floor even, and the other customers put out a good vibe.. Will be back to try the food one day, as it looked pretty good passing.

No keto friendly drinks like White Claw. Slow service because it was busy. Place seems like fun but it is No fun sitting around unable to drink with friends. I'm willing to adjust my review one you have a keto friendly option

Ari took absolute care of us and she is properly the best server here. Also randy the manager is the best manger of all time and he should be given a Grammy for how good of a manger he is. This is hands down the best bar in utah.

Had fun, Impressed with the food quality. Steven was great. He apologized that they don't have a blender for drinks. That's crazy for a bar. Free pool definitely a plus, made it easy to leave a good tip!

We came here after being snubbed by our waitress at brickyard bar right down the street. So serendipitous that we did. Awesome server, super attentive and quick. Amazing food. We had the mac and cheese and chicken garlic parmesan bites😋

Sue is a great place to relax and find new friends. Free pool, safe environment. Always something fun, and the price beats all the other silly places in Salt Lake City.

We chose this place on the recommend of friends for their burgers. So on a rainy cold day we chose an afternoon time to but a Johnny Cash big burger with BBQ sauce and onion rings and salad plus a hard cider so I could drive home safely.. We also ordered a standard burger with salad for the diet conscious wife... It was a homey atmosphere with locals in a giant space with several big screen Tv's and music all playing at once but not so loud you couldn't hear each other.. We had a great tasting lunch and beverage and a nice respite from the bad weather. We will try it again or their otherwise establishment on State St.. Have FUN.....

Only been here once but it seems like a nice place. My friend says the food is good there too. Decent selection of tap beers.

The staff was so friendly and on top of service and clean up. It was a great place to listen to amazing live music with a diverse group of people. Well definitely go again.

What a great place!! Free pool, darts and ping pong. Great prices on food and drinks. Just left bingo night and won a shirt! Def my new favorite place.

  • 3/5 Ken S. 1 year ago on Google
Just okay. Not much of a drink selection, and the menus are outdated, I had to reorder my beer several times to finally get one they had. Free pool is cool, but they rush you out of the place before close if you're the last ones in the building.

Definitely a younger crowd at this bar. The proximity to the university makes it that way. That being said, I've met people from across the US and international travelers. I've never seen karaoke with such a massive gathering like I've seen at this place. It almost felt like I was at a concert with the amount of people dancing and cheering for the person on stage. It was actually super cool. The staff was attentive and available to help. It seemed like this place had more security than normal for a bar, but I'm guessing it's due to the average age of the people who frequent this establishment. All in all I had a good time. Drink pricing was average. My biggest take away was free pool tables.

DO NOT GO HERE! YOU WILL BE TOWED! Between A Bar Named Sue, Nielsens Custard and El Chihuahua there is no parking. Thinking we were safe after carefully reading the signs posted in the across the street lot, parking in a stall that was unmarked by no parking signs, and leaving before 12am my car was still towed. After paying an ungodly amount of $320 to get my car released from the towing company the same night, they have not even reviewed my appeal. My car was towed 20 minutes after being parked, the towing company involved was obviously patrolling that lot as several other friends were also towed. Everyone involved will not be returning to A Bar Named Sue.

Nice place - bit of a grungy vibe, good music though (any place having a live band and then playing goldfinger later in night will always get a thumbs up from me). Good selection of drinks, pool tables are in good condition (and free!), staff was very chill, can't ask much more from a bar in Utah, lol.

decent bar. amazing food. never thought the food would be so good but damn, I could eat dinner here. ambiance is basically a punk rock bar. beer pong on Wednesdays, trivia and bingo too

They're a little pricey and if you are in a wheelchair you can't go in the front door because they have about 4 steps in front. So, I had to go all the way around the back of the strip mall to find the correct ramp to the bar. And I had to use my cell phone flash light to get up the ramp because it is pitch black back there. Other than that, the food is unbelievably awesome and worth every penny! The drinks are great, nice friendly people, and the staff go up and beyond to make sure you enjoy your time there!

Sat at a table, service was slow. Waited almost 30 min for our first drinks and about the same every other round. Stayed about two hours and had to go to up to the bar twice for drinks. Food was good and when we got our drinks they were great. Must try the Georgia Peach.

Bustling downstairs bar on a Friday night, had a band and plenty of drink options. Limited parking. Lots of seating, but it was full. Great stop on my wait for the Mexican restaurant next door. Lots of different types of people and ages.

This joint is a great local hangout, it has a lot of personality and character. The staff is always (at least when I've been) super cool and friendly. They handle a lot of people really well. If you're having people in from town or going for a beer after work. This is the spot to hangout at.
