Our own experience with JCC, specifically with the ECC (Early Childhood Center) last spring was worse than we could have imagined. After several months of closures, we requested a refund for the 2020-2021 tuition deposit for our daughter's preschool class. When we started to piece together that some families were being provided a tuition deposit refund and not others, we inquired about it to the executive director and were lied to about the situation. Even after calling them out, we were offered no reasonable explanation or refund. The situation ruined our trust with the JCC and, as such, we would not recommend it. We also noticed that, the last time we had checked, out of our daughter's entire preschool class from the 2019-20, only one family was planning to return (who happened to live next door to the center), and the director of the ECC had resigned.

We've enjoyed aspects of the experience as well as convenient location. The pool facilities are smaller and dated compared to what we're accustomed to in other states, but it is terribly difficult to find beautiful, modern Olympic+ sized pools in Salt Lake. The JCC's are competitive with others locally, which all seem to be dated and/or understaffed. We initially joined here for the preschool but ultimately chose to leave that program under some duress due to staff upheaval. We wished the early childhood and other kids' programs had stringent behavior screening as part of the admissions process. Those programs IMO maintain impressive endurance and tolerance for children with rough behaviors; that did not prove a positive experience for my own mild-mannered children. Pilates is excellent.

Gym is constantly crammed, basketball court is horrible and usually reserved for pickle ball players. For some reason the diving board is never open either because they want it for the nonexistent lap swimmers. Been coming here for 10 plus years and still get harassed at the door. Michellle the front desk lady constantly is mean mugging me. Overall just a horrible experience and if you are looking for a gym do not come here! Unless you are under 5 or over 70.

We had a family membership for 5+ years. In the past, I would actively endorse the JCC and its programs. Unfortunately, I can no longer do so. The JCC, it's after school program, and summer camp programs are not safe. Part of that, as other reviewers note, is a result of massive turnover during the pandemic. The quality of the admin and staff has fallen dramatically. But part of it is an enduring culture of safety issues and neglect. Children and adults share common locker room space and staff often struggle to keep track of where kids are in the building. After multiple incidents, we decided to end our membership. The JCC and its programs are unsafe.

More than a gym or a pool (which I think some people think it is) it’s a community. The preschool is amazing. The after school programs are wonderful. The swimming lessons are great. Pilates is the best and great value for money. The fitness classes are the most fun. Everyone is super friendly and genuine. This place saved me when I was in nursing school and again when I was in grad school. Gave me support for my kids and a place to go and not lose my mind. They have handled covid well and it feels safe. I can’t wait until we can use it like we used to as a family but for the time being it is what it is and I feel safe going there and my kids can still do swim team so I’m grateful.

My husband, my service dog and I feel sincerely welcomed with open arms. The staff and member's friendliness is contagious. I am joyfully anticipating the future social events. I am grateful for the "Muttbership" activities. My favorite is the outdoor pool and swim lessons. Amelia is an excellent instructor. Why did I not join sooner? As a new member, I look forward to meeting this new community of wonderful people. Thank you for the honor and privilege to be a member.

Overall terrible experience at the JCC is Salt Lake City. I was required to obtain a gym membership when my son attended their preschool. Yet, when he finished I was still obligated with my membership. In addition, my son was bullied and came home with bruises on his face. He was terrified to go to school and having panic attacks. When I talked with his teachers I was told....the kids play rough. If it wasn’t for a lovely child psychologist who smoothed things over I would have had to forfeit my tuition and pull him out of school. I would not recommend this facility due to the treatment of outgoing members or their preschool program.

It is a prettygoodplace though I would reserve the word great. The swimming pool area is clearly the center, reminds me beach areas in southern turkey. But maybe it could benefit more from great views around the center. It look too vlassical. Considering that the center attempts to be innovative they could apply it to the pool. Information on holocaust and Jewish experience in Americancontinent is great though it is resented in primitive way of writing. I love reading but maybe for other people some interactive exhibition would be better.

I've been going to the Slc JCC since 2010. A Wonderful place for me my family to feel safe, grow, and we've made life long friends from the Summer Camps.

Great place to workout! A wide variety of classes, an indoor pool, and new weight room equipment gives you every option for a great exercise program. The staff is friendly and helpful. They also have a great pre-school program and summer camp!

My husband and I love working out here. The cardio and weight rooms have tons of natural light and everything is clean and well maintained. We also enjoy the indoor basketball courts and fitness classes. All of the instructors are so nice and welcoming.

I just joined your facility and am truly impressed. The staff are all very friendly and welcoming, and the process of joining was incredibly easy. Not to mention, the rates are very fair. I'm also impressed by the variety of up to date gym equipment, group classes, and the indoor and outdoor pool!

We are so impressed by the kind people who are at the front desk and how immaculate and well taken care of this beautiful building is. It is apparent a lot of love has been put into the JCC. As new members we are so impressed with everything we have seen and the warm reception when you walk in.
