Wow, where do I start? Our party of 11, including kids ranging from 2 to 11, showed up unexpectedly at the Lincoln Pioneer Village and Museum today and we were warmly welcomed. Despite not having planned for a visit of our size, the director insisted on giving us a tour, and we're so grateful she did! Admittedly, we were a bit nervous because our kids are mostly toddlers and they're at that curious age where they want to touch everything. While we were doing our best to keep an eye on them, they still managed to get their little hands on a few exhibits. But the amazing director giving us our tour didn't even bat an eye. She could see we were trying hard to respect the space, which we greatly appreciated. She did such an amazing job making the tour fun and educational that my 9 and 11-year-olds were absolutely captivated. And for me who loves history, it was great. For My dad who is a sought after antique appraiser, even being on the roadshow, he was impressed and he’s rarely impressed. The moms in our group loved the dresses and time pieces about motherhood and the space for the kids to run. We found the grounds to be very toddler and baby-friendly, as long as you respect it just like you would in your grandparents house. And, oh, they even have some little gifts for the kids and a scavenger hunt you need to let them do “it’s quick which is good since my kids have attention spans of a fly”. What's fascinating is that if you visit on a weekday, there's a good chance you'll have the place mostly to yourself and the wonderful team at the museum. We learned so much and even though we were there for two hours, it barely felt like we'd scratched the surface. So, is it worth a visit? Absolutely! We'll be back for sure next year. See you then, Lincoln Pioneer Village and Museum - thanks for an unforgettable experience!

What a fantastic experience! There were 13 different Lincoln-era replica cabins around the museum. Fun, hands on activites and a great way to learn Lincoln history. One of the re-enactors was a relative of the Crawford family that lived next to the Lincoln family. We had a group of parents and 31 children ages 2-14 yrs old for a September field trip. Note: We called ahead to set a date for our tour appointment. Pretty sure the re-enactors are not always there and are volunteers. Highly recommended!

We did a self tour of the village. It was great! The museum was wonderful as well. I would highly recommend visiting this as well as all the Abraham Lincoln sites in this area of Indiana.

Wow! What a place! Incredible grounds showcasing life in the time of Lincoln with a period piece village (some dates throughout the year, they have living history people roaming the grounds). Amazing people running the place who are clearly passionate about what they've got that you should experience! They also have a museum that has a little bit of everything and anything - give yourself about 2 hours and go and enjoy this bit of Americana!

So much history! It had been a few years since my last visit. Can't wait to see the finished Grigsby cabin. The carved bears at the big maple tree was something new to me.

Very neat and historic. Makes you think about the past and how they lived back then with no AC. Everyone needs to check this out. The worker(man) very nice, knowledgeable, and loved working there, you could tell. 😀 The long snake that fell off the roof by my hubby was a bonus!

I really enjoyed walking around the village and seeing some unusual items on display. Cost for Museum and village is $5 for adults, $3 for seniors and children. Well worth it. Plan on spending at least 2 hours or longer because lots of information is shared.

It was a nice place and very quaint. The museum was full of wonderful memories and artifacts. They don't do the period time dress everyday. That is only on certain scheduled times. Which is unfortunate due to that is what it is known for. They did offer a scavenger hunt and prizes (unfortunately they were not today's standard of kid friendly prizes) so it was a bit of a let down. Still very informative. The person at the counter that day was very sweet and inviting and was understanding (due to the weather 🌡️ (hot) that she let us cool down inside). This place is located outside of The Lincoln Boyhood Park. It is 20 minutes further south in Rockford.

I love this place! I visit my parents in Rockport a couple times a year and I've been here twice now. The museum is great, the items are displayed very nicely. The village itself is very cool! The cabins are very authentic and very complete. I've been to similar places where the cabins were very sparsely decorated, but that's not the case here. Every cabin looks as if someone actually lived there, and the descriptions of each building are very thorough and informative. But the best part is Nancy! She was so nice and helpful, and really made the experience so much better for us! If you're visiting the area, definitely take a couple hours to stop here!

This is one of the coolest historical sites I’ve been to. I learned a lot about Lincoln, his family and life in the frontier times. One of the best attractions in southern Indiana!

Cool chance to experience the history of Abraham Lincoln. You walk through some replica buildings of the homes they used to live in there in Rockport.

This was my second time there. Same as always cool historic replicas of the cabins and actual historic objects in the museum. Also very nice people.

This museum is a treasure that we weren't aware of until our last visit. It was a very neat place full of historical artifacts. The kids got to do a scavenger hunt which was very cool and helped them appreciate the history it housed.
