There is a park above the beach which has a few picnic tables and benches. Some of the seating is in the shade. There is a flight of stairs to access the beach. And there are port-o-potties too.

Rockland Harbor trail is a gem. Free parking at South End and a well laid out stroll along the harbor. Lovely public lands. Maine, the Way Life Is

Beautiful beach and walkway. Friendly folks. Great place to walk dogs. Apple trees right on the shore!

I've grown up around South End Rockland and all the shoreline. I'm probably a little biased but honest. Sometimes it's a little trashy at the high tide line. But it is a east facing beach so it's great for sunrise photos.

Great little beach to dip your toes, have a swim or bask on a rock. Beautiful views of the harbor from the park benches above the beach. There is plenty of shade and fresh water there to stay cool on the hottest days.

This is the south end beach to us locals. We don't call it sandy beach. One of my favorite places on earth. Many memories.

Please fix the stairs leading down to the beach. It's an absolutely gorgeous area otherwise. Up above the beach you can enjoy lunch while sitting at the picnic tables. If you want to walk, there is a walking trail nearby. What my daughter and I love about this beach is that if you walk over the rocks towards the right side of the main beach area, you will find what my daughter and I call a 'seashell beach'. I have never seen something similar in New England. That one beach in between two outcropping of rocks seems to attract an endless amount of shells. (Current? ) I would love to find out why this happens. There are usually at least two porta potties near the picnic area which is a plus if you are traveling with kids.

We were able to just relax. We ate lunch there and enjoyed the view.

Not big, not that nice. Fine spot to take a dip. There’s nicer spots to hangout at than there. More for a quick stop.

The breeze was cooler than it was inland that hot, sunny day. So muggy, too, but we stayed at this beach for hours exploring, walking on the rocks and train track.

I really enjoy taking a walk there most days. The great view really motivates me to walk!

Very disappointed!!! NOT wheelchair accessible!!! No way to get the two wheelchair bound residents to the beach AND the bathrooms weren't handicap accessible either!!! Wasted 2 hour drive

Right on the harbor and mooring field, not wheelchair accessible, but a nice bit of beach at less-than high tide, good for pets (please clean up!) and kids.
