Not much to see now, but just to be in the spot of a former ancient wonder is exciting. Now it seems to be a favorite fishing place for locals. Right across the street from a new wonder: Starbucks. A wonder that people drink that garbage coffee when this island offers hundreds of other choices.

The walk along the wall with the gorgeous sea next to you is really worth it. Lots to look at from the Fort, the windmills and of course the two columns now topped with 2 statues of goats which once were the mounts for what must have been a humongous statue which in its time must have been intimidating to visitors and invaders alike. The story behind the statue is that after a war, they took the metal from the enemy and melted it down to build it. Then later there was another war afterwhich it was taken down and broken up for scrap.

It is a historic place where civilisation has had its progress and turmoils over 2500 years. What remains are ruins of these activities but some parts are kept remarkably well-preserved, despite weathering and earthquakes. This place in Rhodes Island, Greece is laid back and harks to a slower pace of life. Worth visiting.

For a history buff, this is an amazing place. It’s fascinating to imagine the statue when it existed. What would have made the memorial even better is having some kind of lighting to highlight the place especially in the dark. There are some nice restaurants and bars around to grab a drink and watch the busy street around the memorial

Statues of deers named Elefos & Elafina at the entrance to Mandraki port mark the spots where the feet of the Rhodes colossus used to stand according to myth. You can also see (and visit later) medieval fort of St. Nicholas built in 15th century used as lighthouse nowadays.

Rhodes old town is stunning. Loads of great bars and restaurants and souvenir shops. The port area is good for walking around, posh yacht and cruise liner watching.

Unfortunately, only the place where the Colossus of Rhodes once stood has survived. However, it is interesting to sit on the pier, watch the local fishermen and realize that here was one of the seven wonders of the world.

It is a nice harbour but it’s only a placeholder for what was one of the 7 wonders of the world. Try reading about the Colossus or even better go to the 9D Cinema close to it(near the Starbucks). It will make your appreciate it more

Magnificent site of the Colossus Of Rhodes. One of the ancient 7 Wonders of the World. I saw this on a boat trip. You can walk up to it too.

Sadly no colossus here today as it was destroyed by earthquake centuries ago but with some imagination you can imagine where it once stood welcoming ships into the harbor (and perhaps frightening them and projecting power). Today the small narrow streets and shops are still a joy to walk amongst.

The Myth Colossus Rhodes is a truly awe-inspiring historical site that leaves visitors captivated by its immense size and rich historical significance. Erected in ancient Greece, this magnificent statue stands as a testament to the ancient world's architectural prowess and mythological beliefs. What made the Myth Colossus Rhodes even more captivating was its backstory. Legend has it that this gigantic statue was dedicated to the Greek god of the sun, Helios, and was built over twelve years by Chares of Lindos, a renowned sculptor. It served as a symbol of power and protection for the ancient city of Rhodes, overseeing its harbors. Additionally, the location of Myth Colossus Rhodes adds to its allure. Situated at the entrance However, it's important to note that the actual statue is no longer intact. The Myth Colossus Rhodes unfortunately suffered significant damage due to an earthquake in 226 BC. Nevertheless, the ruins of the statue and the surrounding area offer ample opportunities for exploration and discovery. A visit to the Myth Colossus Rhodes is a must for history enthusiasts and anyone curious about the marvels of the ancient world. Despite its damaged state, its grandeur and historical significance shine through. Prepare to be transported back in time as you imagine the prowess and influence this colossal statue once held over the ancient city of Rhodes.

I love it here. It’s fun to learn about the history. The marina has a small welcoming feel. However, there are some larger ships and the size can be deceiving. It contains such a variety with 35’ or 12 meter boats having slips here.

The statues representing where the Colossus possibly once stood are nice, although the cruise ships and yachts that fill the harbour and do take away from the ancient and historical experience.

It obviously doesn't really exist. But there are two deer statues on pillars, on the pier where the feet of the Colossus supposedly stood. If you're a history buff, or want a picture for your social media, it's a fun place to visit. Bring your imagination. The place is open (no entrance).

Ancient statue that had been destroyed many centuries ago. It's still been questioned by historians whether the Colossus did really stand here or maybe it had been located somewhere else, e.g. in Lindos. 🤷‍♂️

Beautiful such a lovely walk around the marina looking at the expensive yachts. Well worth a visit & you can sit on the rocks and cool your feet off in the sea

It's a myth. Could it be true? If it is then standing at this spot and imaging a massive statue is pretty cool. The harbor is nice. Just have a walk around.

I think that you should have seen this place if you are already in Rhodes town. From the right side it is a longer and very sunny path with little shade. However, you can see the windmills of Rhodes and enjoy a beautiful view of the sea. If the weather is right, a view of Turkey is possible. Also the yachts on the way are sometimes very impressive. In the end, with a lot of imagination, you can perhaps imagine how the Colossus of Rhodes stood on the two pedestals ;). No ticket necessary
