A MUST!!! for the Chicago dog experience. Great prices, $3.98 for a Chicago style dog w/ everything and a huge portion of fries. Bring your own ketchup though…don’t even mention the word ketchup inside😉😎. Been in business for decades…and there’s a reason why. You can’t beat this Chicago dog experience…don’t forget your lawn chairs for the parking lot, to go only.

When the line is almost out the door, you know you’re at the right place! Delicious Chicago style hotdog with fries. The restaurant is closed for dine in, even if it was open for dine in its going to be uncomfortable with all the customers packed in there. So definitely grab your food and enjoy it in your car, the parking lot is massive. Definitely coming back for a quick, delicious, and affordable bite!

Yes! Love the food at Gene & June's, had a double hot dog and fries and it was great for the classic Chicago flavor! The ordering process was a little difficult because there were too many workers shouting all across at the people in line through the plastic curtains and the mood overall was grumpy. But once you get past that, the food is great!

Double dog with everything, was told it is the best dog in Chicago, if it’s I can’t wait to try a better one. Great hotdog and great price. Line was out the building but they move fast in and out in less than 30 min. $5 for a double dog w/ fries

This spot is the best for Hot Dogs and Tamales on the West side. The flavor of their hotdogs taste just like the ones you get a baseball game. The fries they got too are really good. They have an army working behind the counter to keep the line moving. So your in and out within 5 minutes. Alot of people being there cause of how good the place is.

Delicious fries filled hot dogs! The fries are freshly made and absolutely delicious. The portions are generous and the service is fast despite the long wait line! One of the best hot dogs I’ve had in Chicago. I definitely recommend!!!

My fiance and I had to try the best Chicago dog in town and after heavy research we came across this location as the winner. When we arrived we had to make a few passes through the parking lot to grab a spot and then we waited in a very long line that went outside. I'd say we waited probably 40 min or so but I wasn't timing it. We were committed and time wasn't an issue for us. When we got close enough to watch them make the food I was surprised at the amount of fries they loaded up on each dog. On top of that the fries are cut right in front of you and thrown in the fryer! We ordered the regular style dogs, the double dogs, and the tamales. All were great! I didn't have any hot sauce to put on the tamales so they left me hanging a bit. 🤷 Friendly and speedy service!

A friend took me here so I can try a Chicago style hotdog, because I never tried one. I ordered it the way they make it (however that was) haha. It had a hot dog, mustard, French fries, onions and I think a Peperoncini ,It was nice a fresh, the hot dog was good, the only thing I would have changed would be crispier french fries.

We arrived to Chicago and arrived Hungry and I was Craving a Delicious Hot Dog, so our cousin brought us here for the First time. I had a Hot Dog with everything on it, mustard, onions, relish, peppers and they topped it with good hot fries. It was all so good. We were attended right away and with nice service. The atmosphere was not to big, More like a take it to go. I most definitely will go back when I come to Chicago again.

Very simple but great. hot dogs, fries, tamales, Coca-Cola and repeat. For me the singles were perfect just make sure you order 1 or 2 extras you know someone will want one or you'll just eat 1 on the way home. I don't know old school Chicago tamales yeah buddy. Worth the drive and wait.

Best hot dog around with fresh cut fries on top. My favorite is a double dog with fries, mustard, onion, and sport peppers. Don't bother asking for ketchup. They take credit card now! The line is socially distanced and moves quickly but they only let one person per car in. No groups. You'll get your hot dog in a brown paper bag, best eaten in your car. Grab napkins as it gets greasy.

Delicious food which is the same each time we come into town. Why do some restaurants change something that everyone loves so much? Keep up the good work! Highly recommend but please please don’t ask for ketchup!! 🤣

The gold standard of hot dogs. Go here and you’ll taste why. Even if you get it plain it’s still so delicious. They pile and wrap the fries on top of the dog which gives it the amazing flavor. Even if you let it sit for an hour the flavor matures very well. Please don’t ask for ketchup because it doesn’t exist there. Bring your own ketchup however they will not allow you to bring it in, seriously. Prices are the best you’ll find anywhere.

I love their pizza, definitely worth the drive. This location is not a dine-in location but you can pick up your order or have it delivered. It's located 8 downtown Elmhurst right by the Train station.

Gene and Jude's is a place everyone should experience. There's always a line, and you have to eat in your car, but what fun! The hot dogs are called Depression Era hot dogs because of the toppings and the way they are served. This place stands alone as a place not only for good dogs and fries, but also for the unique experience of eating there.

We got the recommendation from ChatGPT. We were a bit skeptical when we first arrived. But wow. The parking lot was big. We saw people just hanging out with their own lawn seats. We had double dog with fries and tamales. The fresh cut fries were so good. The hot dogs were perfect flavored, not too salty either. Tamales came in a sealed plastic bag was better than expected. The portion was generous. Staff were friendly.

Good dogs, and quick service despite the long lines. The dog itself is above average, but nice and fresh. Fries are fresh, but not crispy. They have a unique red creme soda I recommend. Fair price too! A double dog with fries and small red creme soda for $7.67! Service is super quick. Get in and out in less than 5 min even though 5 people were ahead of me. My guy was not mean, but don't expect a smile! They just know how to crank out dog after dog. Atmosphere is not meant to be the main attraction. You can eat inside, but no napkins any where, no chairs (so you can eat inside if you eat standing at the small counter or take back to your car). I would come back again if I was in the area.

I visited Chicago for the first time and wanted to try the city's famous hot dog style. After an internet search, I narrowed my choices to Gene and Jude's double dog. Service was fast and pleasant. Workers take an order and make the order themselves, which was a nice touch. I did notice that the person helping us kept touching their mask. He had gloves on and maybe thought it was hygienic. Gloves or not, whatever material was on that mask might have ended up on my food because those same gloves were grabbing the food when he made it. Long story short, we went to my car to eat but decided not to eat the food. Maybe this isn't typical behavior and I just caught the outlier behavior, but what really convinced me not to eat the food was the food itself. The fries and bun were soggy and smashed together. It just wasn't appealing enough for me to forget the mask touching.

Hands down best hot dog I ever had to this day. G&J is def an experience, all they sell is hot dogs and tamales. No eating inside so once you get your food you just chill in your car and eat. Hot dog comes with a ton of fries. If you go during a busy time, expect a line outside the door.

Probably one of the best dogs I've ever had! 🌭🍟 Pretty busy but workers were very efficient so line moved pretty fast! No dining in currently so it's either eat in your car or take home as i did! Got 2 double dogs with everything with extra sport that come with more then enough fries just with 1 dog! No ketchup so don't even ask 😂 Definitely worth the trip and will be back when I'm back in the area or if i wanna travel an hour each way for a 🌭! 2 doubles came out to $11 and some change

Pro tip- you can have them delivered for events (ie weddings etc). Just call and they do all the leg work. They even have their own delivery driver. Looking for a delicious Chicago style hot dog. This is worth the wait in line. They move quick and make a delicious hot dog. The fries are some of the best when they are cooked all the way. I am not of fan of it when they are soggy.

You will not sit down. They have small space to stand and eat, that’s just last of atmosphere. Most people eat in their cars. Several business deals completed in this parking lot. Get a double dog the dogs are small. Love the fries freshly cut right in front of you. You haven’t had a Chicago dog until you try Gene and Jude’s.

I used to go here all the time years ago, and It was good then. Fast forward 10+ years and I stopped in a few days ago after not being there in a long time and the food was still good. I didn't like how the hot dogs didn't used to be hot, temperature wise back then but my double dog I got recently was hot and very delicious! Fresh fries are awesome and the prices are still a good deal for what you're getting. Overall good quality and prices. Always a great option for a quick bite.

  • 5/5 BC 3 years ago on Google
Really amazing hotdogs. They have that snap that all good dogs should have and are really good value. What really shines for me though is the homemade fries. I'm English and I'm always on the lookout for fries (chips) which taste like real fish and chip shop style chips and these do. They're not as fat as those but have that really fresh flavour. Hats off. This is a great place.

There is no better hot dog/fries combo in the world. I mean, it would be impossible to be better than the best. I grew up in River Grove and ate many Gene and Judes hot dogs because it was the cheapest meal around. Back when I was a kid (LMAO) they were $1.25. They are just as good today as they were 30 years ago.

This pizza was fantastic! Truth be told, this was my first deep dish pizza, and it did not disappoint. The crust was buttery and rich but not overly thick. The sauce was chunky and full of garlic and herb flavor. We had The Lou which had layers of cheese, spinach, and mushroom, topped with thick slices of tomatoes. Four adults split a small pizza.

  • 1/5 Annette D. 3 years ago on Google
Just had a medium thin crust cheese delivered and it was the worse pizza I have ever tasted. Grant it whenever I've ordered, its been great. Today I received what looked and tasted like day old over cooked pizza!! I couldn't stomach it... neither could my daughter. So very very disappointed. It only takes one bad experience to keep me from ever going back because how could they allow for something this bad to leave out the door to a customer? Never again!!! 😡

  • 3/5 Kim I. 3 years ago on Google
Pizza amazing! Salad delicious. Pick-up/curbside pick-up... ridiculous. The line was 10-15 minutes for pick up. The street was blocked. Couldn't get through. Got out of car, walked in and was yelled at. Told to wait outside, which is fine, but it seemed more people should be working outside to help with the flow.

HI back, Normally I don't write reviews. I do fully understand the pressure we are all under with this pandemic and trying to get through this. I AM, a front line first responder (fire dept). So, I will say thank you also for trying and being open. Again, I understand. My deep dish sausage pizza came with the sausage partly cooked, and the majority of ingredients slid over to one side. The thing that really got to me was the taste. It tasted like SOAP! Needless to say, I was not a happy first responder that evening. (Can't write what I really said). So, everyone has their moments, myself included. Again, I understand. I'll give you guys another try down the road and best wishes for the holidays. Doug

I thought I ordered a Deep Dish pizza. This looks more like a pan pizza. What's going on Lou Malnati's?? Trying to save a few pennies and giving customers a pan pizza? You guys aren't turning into a local Pizza Hut, are you?

  • 5/5 Logan W. 3 years ago on Google
Best Chicago pizza, hands down. Lou's takes the cake over Giordano's. The crust is buttery, the cheese is thick, the sauce is the precise amount, and that sausage was phenomenal. The veggie and the Chicago classic were both delightful but the classic is the way to go.

So...this place was iconic, and I loved seeing the awards on the wall. It was all so captivating. The food was really good and it was exciting being there. Kinda of a pinks/ pats and genos vibe. The Tamale was ok, kinda curry tasting. For some reason the hot dogs were missOK, a flavor somthing for me, and i was expecting some other ingredients for a "chicago" dog. I was a bit disappointed they didn't have anything to dip the fries in.

  • 5/5 Rhys M. 1 year ago on Google
The definition of a no-frills eatery - but keeping it simple has worked at this spot for nearly 75 years. The hot dogs are excellent and the fries are even better. Not much else to say; it's worth the hype. They do accept cards now, so out-of-towners like me don't have to fret about having cash on them.
