This is the worst place to call in the universe when it comes to trying to get information about doctors who carries this insurance I drink this insurance April of 2015 and I have called to have myself set up with a PCP. I was given over 20 doctors to call before I actually got one that actually takes this insurance. Then when I had to get a specialty doctor the story just gets worse but today when I called to request to speak to the department that schedule your transportation to your doctor appointment I encountered the most ridiculous unprofessional ghetto person on the other line her name was Asia.

Although, I didn't initially choose IlliniCare as my insurance company, I'm so glad that they got my back. From the beginning, they have offered so much more than you expect from a traditional insurance provider. I now have a (free) full time gym membership, attend member events on a regular basis and I found in network providers that complement my more natural approach to life.

Every comment you're reading is true. For me, I injured my leg playing sports, and although they kept clearing me for X-rays(which claim im fine), I was denied multiple times MRIs and have been told its a MCL strain. A year later, the pain still persists, and luckily after finally switching ive found out it was a deeper tear than therapy could help...

Horrible insurance, if at all possible I would ask EVERYONE not to choose this company. I made a huge mistake since they changed their brand in Illinois (ambetter) my mom will be paying so much more money and so far her previous PCP will probably not accept this insurance, it's a real nightmare. I feel bad for my mom, I guess I'll try my best to pay out of pocket if at all possible. Everyone should stay away from this, it's unbelievable the kind of healthcare system this so-called advanced country has.

If I could give them zero stars I would. My father in law hasn’t been able to walk in almost a month! And his doctor referred him to get an MRI and illinicare has denied him. How do you want him to get therapy if we don’t know what’s wrong with him! What’s the point of having this insurance if you guys just keep rejecting patients and their needs! Very unacceptable!!

Before I selected illinicare, I confirmed with them and my doctor that my doctor was covered in their plan. No one could explain why I was unable to select my doctor as a pcp. Even a month later, they attempted to select my doctor as a pcp (after signing me up with a different doctor and telling me I could change it later). The next month, still unable to select my doctor as a pcp, they finally told me they were not allowing “new” patients to sign up as a pcp with that doctor (I was not a new patient, I had already been with that doctor with my previous insurance). So they selected a doctor for me at a nearby doctor office. But this doctor is on medical leave AND they selected a different location she practices from which is unaffiliated with the office I wanted. So I called illinicare again and they selected a different doctor at the same nearby office. But when my card came in, it showed the doctor's name with a St Louis phone number (I'm in Chicago). Something is very wrong with their systems and it causes a lot of headaches and issues. Not being able to see a doctor because of their issues is very frustrating.

With Illinicare some nurse contacted me from a mental health and substance abuse agency called me stating to me that I was recommended for her to sign me up under a mandatory six months program when I have never had a condition with mental health nor substance abuse! The nurse came to my home and requested all of my medical history and said that some one from the Chicago insurance headquarters referred me and the person "Tracy" could never be contacted to verify why I was referred as I don't have these conditions and certainly don't see how they're assisted me by having a nurse come out to retrieve my information and make me sign statement for a program that has to do with mental health and substance abuse!!!! Either they wrongfully referred me, or there's something very illegal going on as I am upset because I didn't know who the nurse was nor did I want to be linked to this program for they have no right to be monitoring me just because I'm using this health care insurance plan!

My name is Don McCoy and I need help in resolving my problem with Ambetter Illinicare Health. I received this insurance in June and was told to summit my payment by July 3rd for $180. I summitted a July payment as well as a August payment for that month, but at the end of August I got a call from my Doctor's office stating my insurance was not good. When I called Ambetter, I was told I had been cancelled in July. I told them I never received a cancellation letter and that I had also sent a August payment which had not been returned to be either. They checked and told me I should receive a refund for both payments in 45 days, the end of September or first of October. I have not received anything so I called Ambetter again the 1st week of October and was told again I would receive my refund of $360 in 45 days. I said you told me that 45 days ago, and they said well it's up to the comptroller, so I asked, can you check with them or give me a number I can call? They said no, they were the only ones I could talk with. I'm lost for words. How do they hold to payments with a cancelled account, what account was the money charged to. What should I do next? Ambetter Illinicare Health is giving me the run-around.
