The gentleman’s/ long hair at the night reception was abrupt at first ! But and the end became polite.. I understand all the staff have a difficult job! Dealing with the insane and the indigent ! No hard feelings! The rest of the staff nurses and the doctors demonstrated plenty of empathy and were extremely nice. I don’t know what happened, but it wasn’t that way before. I wanted to congratulate all of you On a major improvement on people skills. It makes all the difference.. I really appreciate the rest of the staff on a well done Job .. showing care and empathy means a lot to me.. As a patient, nobody wants to be there in the emergency room. In a nutshell, I just want to. Thank all the folks that encountered. Great job! Thank you for your time and patience And taking care of me with empathy..,

We had a very negative experience with nurse and charge nurse of the ER. My dad arrived by ems Friday afternoon. After being in the ER for several hours getting treatment, our nurse was not very empathetic. My dad started experiencing a bad stomach ache, diarrhea, nausea and was dizzy. When my dad had to go to the restroom the first time, the nurse brought a wheelchair to wheel him there. However, the second time my dad asked to go to the restroom the nurse rudely told me dad and pointed at the restroom telling him “it’s over there” instead of wheeling him in a wheelchair since my dad was still weak, and dizzy. My dad also has a PD catheter for dialysis. The doctor request a sample of the fluid to test for possible infection. We explained the process to our nurse letting him in know what we have to follow to ensure minimum exposure. He was not receptive of the information, though I understand he likely had no knowledge of how to handle a PD catheter, he did not follow our instructions or ask any other nurse to help. Once you uncap the catheter, you must clean the extension set with alcohol wipes prior to taking a sample. This was not done, he stood there not doing anything after he took off the cap. The sample was taken after a few seconds but he did not have a new cap to close the catheter. He did not have the proper tools to gather the sample causing it to be exposed for an extended amount of time, risking my dad to get an peritonitis infection. He was going to put the same cap back on until I told him he could not do that like we had mentioned to him before. I asked him to find one, after 30 mins we still had not received the cap. I went to look for the charge nurse and she was no help. I explained the situation to her about the PD catheter and she did not seem concerned whatsoever. It’s infuriating to know that if an issue is brought up to the charge nurse she doesn’t even bother to follow up with a patient. My sister was able to bring a cap from home and the liquids to clean the extension before the hospital was able to. We should be able to rely on this hospital to be equipped with whatever is needed or at least be able to locate what’s needed in a timely manner and preferably have the set up done before doing what needs to be done. This is by far the worst experience we’ve had. My dad can get peritonitis infection because lack of knowledge, communication and care for their patients. We are very upset on how things were handled and I hope that due to the extended amount the catheter was exposed my fathers health does not decline.

It didn't used to be this crowded. After an hour, I found that there was an over 6 hour wait to be seen by an ER doctor. As bad as I had been feeling over the last 2 days, I just couldn't sit in a wheelchair for that long. I'd rather suffer at home. Besides, I was feeling much better. All my symptoms were gone. The IVs from the ambulance must have really helped plus prayer. I had my wife come get me. I wish there was a way for them to get more people to help moved the line faster. I saw three others leave before me.

Gina the front desk triage nurse patiently listened to my situation and recognized that there was a small potential of a serious situation. She thankfully expedited my wait time and got an intake nurse, physician and sonogram technician to help me within an incredibly short period of time. The entire ER staff I interacted with was fantastic. Thank you for helping me.

I went to the ER as a follow up for pain management on my Achilles injury, from a week before, and left in much worse shape. I was waiting in the lobby when I noticed a man spill some ice on the floor. I told the Security Officer that was 15 feet away about it and recommended someone clean it up. About 30 minutes later I had to go to the restroom and when I was exiting the restroom my crutches slipped in the water from the melted ice I had told them should be cleaned up... My foot slammed into the floor and the pain that I thought was pretty bad became excruciating. I let the intake personnel know what had happened after the pain had subsided enough to allow me to make my way over there and that I needed to file an incident report. About 45 minutes later they finally called me back to take the report and were considerate enough to give me a single ibuprofen to help with the pain that had me in tears. Back to the lobby to wait for about 2 more hours before they finally brought me to the back to see a doctor and get some pain medication... I spoke with the doctor and let them know what had happened and that the pain was very different and in different areas of my leg so I thought it would be necessary to get another MRI done. After convincing him that it would be the best option I received a visit from a nurse telling me they were ready to discharge me to my very great surprise. I had to argue and explain multiple times why it was necessary to get an MRI even though the doctor did not want to do it, he had said they only had 1 MRI machine and would rather me do it as an outpatient when I visited their clinic for my follow up appointment a week later... At this point I had to get rather forceful and start saying things like lawsuit and liability as well as going to another ER and how it would look like the hospital was trying to cover up the whole situation. They finally spoke to a supervisor who said it would be okay to do the MRI but that since the original doctor did not recommend it that I may have to pay for it out of pocket if insurance did not cover it. I really could not believe they could be so crass and uncaring but here we were. 9 hours after slipping in the water in their lobby I finally got the MRI done... Do not go to this ER and expect compassion or basic human decency.

Fell on my wrist at work — my coworker brought me here to get checked out bc it started swelling pretty rapidly. Happily surprised because I didn’t even have to sit down in the waiting room— I handed over my insurance info and they took me straight back to a bay. Shortly after that I met the doctor and X-ray tech— both who had excellent bedside manner. It did take a little bit of time to get my results but the wait time was significantly better than I’ve experienced during other trips to the ER. Megan put my splint/cast on with ease and I was given clear instructions for next steps. Everyone I interacted with was pleasant, patient, and able to answer questions when I had them. I really appreciate the professionalism + speedy (for an emergency room) service I received. The doc even called the next day to check in!

I'm obviously not going to get into the particulars of my case, but I felt my experience was fundamentally ignored due to what seemed to me to be a lack of creative problem-solving. I have a lot of respect for science and the medical profession, and I understand that psychosomatic manifestation of symptoms is powerful indeed, but due to the frequency and order of my manifesting symptoms, they simply had to correlated. (Since I'm leaving things vague, let's say that a very specific event that led to recurring issue A, and A always IMMEDIATELY preceded recurring issue B, both of which impacted the same body system. B never happened without A happening first, but A was dismissed as a potential factor out of hand.) Ultimately, I left with a diagnosis, which, while it very well may play a role in what I'm dealing with, can in no way possibly explain one side of the equation. I firmly believe a more holistic approach would have left me more prepared to take next steps regarding treatment, but that just wasn't in the cards during my visit, I guess. You can't always choose the ER you end up in, but if I were able to do so, it wouldn't be this one.

Impressed with the care; so thorough and kind. The staff was great. Tony in neurology was amazing. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars was because of wait time; but long wait times seem to be standard at ERs in Austin.

Everybody was very responsive the nurses for nice polite and on point the doctors came in as a team and tackled something that was quite difficult and that was really awesome to see and to be on the receiving end of that felt great. The doctor listened and took in what I said and came up with some good solutions so I think the whole team there at Seton! You guys are great!!

I’ve been in a few hospital overtime. The experience at Dell Seton is Diamond Five Star! The staff in the fourth floor are exceptional- no they are God’s Angels! They care for you, I don’t mean they take care of you, which they do. I mean they care for you! In every action in every communication they CARE for you. Working with them has been a real pleasure!

I was visiting Austin with my son on vacation and became very ill. I was taken by ambulance to an unknown hospital. I cannot give higher praise to the staff, technicians and Doctors that treated me. They were gentle, kind and respectful. I thank them from the bottom of my heart.

If I could give zeros stars, I would. I told the receptionists I had been in a car wreck and hit my head and vomited after (which is a usually a good sign of a concussion) they proceeded to be completely rude whenever I would KINDLY ask them to repeat themselves (confusion and disorientation is a symptom of a concussion). Then I was taken in to do my triage and told them I had a hematoma which they agreed and that I had horrible neck and head pain which they gave me a neck brace for. They said they were going to call me back to do a CT scan. Which is pretty much all they did for me. Not only did the doctor not do a concussion test of any kind but immediately when my scans came back clear didn’t go over much of anything with us except to take ibuprofen (WHICH YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO TAKE WITH A HEMATOMA OR HEAD INJURY!) and said verbatim: “you are going to feel really bad one day and then even worse the days following and then you will be better.” He just wrote “Head Injury” on my discharge papers and that was it. We got a packet for our discharge papers going over instructions on what to do and not do which the doctor didn’t discuss with us at all. There were things in the packet that should’ve absolutely been discussed! Things like: make sure someone observes you for 24 hours after the accident, don’t drink alcohol, follow up with my primary care provider in a week etc. After my visit my pain did not improve at all, so I went to the student services building at UT which was AMAZING! They were so kind and respectful right off the bat but were completely shocked this hospital didn’t evaluate for a concussion at all (besides the scans). There I was diagnosed with a concussion given all my symptoms, pain and responses to their concussion tests. They also told me absolutely to not take ibuprofen! Gosh this visit was an actual joke that is probably going to cost me an arm and a leg. The only good thing about this visit were the nurses- who were awesome! (Also if this is confusing, I’m still concussed I’m using my 10 minutes of screen time to do this because that’s how frustrated I am)

They took AMAZING CARE OF ME for the 4 days I was here, Anna one of the nurses consoled me and rubbed my shoulder and was there for me when I needed her. They made sure if I was in pain I was comfortable, extra pillows , blankets, better bed. Surgeon was awesome and made me feel comfortable especially after going under anesthesia for the first time I want to thank everyone at Del Seton if you had any help in my recovery!

The treatment was phenomenal here. I came into the hospital with a massive stomach ache and was informed that I had to have my appendix removed. Okay 👍 no problem. The entire staff from check-in to post-op was amazing! Friendly, helpful, and inclusive. Now it was on a Friday night when I went in to the ER and the wait was atrocious but that's what happens, but I finally was admitted and then next morning I was off to surgery! I want to say thanks to the ENTIRE staff and teams here they are a damn good team!

All the doctors and nurses we worked with were fantastic. Very caring, knowledgeable, and informative when explaining what needed to be done and what the follow up would look like. Our only complaints would be that we had to spend the night in an ER room with our son (broken femur) and there was no place for us to sleep, and we arrived around 9:30p and didn’t go into the OR until 6:30a. So my wife slept on the hard tile floor, and I “slept” sitting up in a plastic chair, and no one ever offered to do anything to help make it any more comfortable. So we both got about an hour or two of total sleep. Once out of the ER everything was great.

The nurses and staff are knowledgeable and kind, however extremely busy and there is a long wait. They are none the less kind and patient. They were professional and kept me informed from the start discussing the phases of my treatment with me and my case manager who checked on me daily and made changes accordingly.

The facility was clean. The personnel were nice. registration didn’t come by to assist with check out for my deductible. As for my treatment ER staff put an IV through labs but never sent the labs to be checked. The physician said that they were going to check labs but they didn’t chest x-ray was done to rule out pneumonia and then I was discharge. I hope I was not charge for any labs because they were not sent. The tubes of blood were still in the room when I left.

I was literally kidnapped and brought there. You staff was courteous up to a point. I knew I needed oxygen due to the high humidity in my house, 50 to 66 percent indoors and much the same outside. Your security people threatened me if I tried to leave,as in arrest. Highly illegal, none of you have a medical power of attorney for me. Highly unprofessional. When I finally returned to Bluebonnet Studios, I looked at the director and said I figured out that I needed a dehumidifier. Your discharge papers said I had an occasional shortness of breath Wrong wrong. Also alcohol advice I do not need. I have a condition which your staff was was completely unaware of. They never asked. Incredibly horrible itching over long periods of time. We have now reduced that to maybe 2 times a month but it can take up to 2 days to resolve, meaning no sleep. I try everything the doctor prescribes, and every sleep aid including meditation and Alcohol. Bottom line, your discharge papers totally ignored the reason for the call. Very unprofessional. By the way the Mayo Clinic reported that the condition is life threatening. We have finally got it reduced to maybe twice a month instead of 6 months in a row. At any rate I figured out a simple solution to the breathing.

Overall the doctor said in the nurses that take care of me did a very good job. I had to wait all day long because my actual doctors that did my surgery did not respond to the emergency room doctors in a timely manner. I have a opened wound because my surgical doctors did not take heed to my complaints when I would go to my checkups. The doctors I did my procedure were professional and kind the nurses as well.

The reason of the one star is because when I arrived the Er took my identification, then 10 minutes later I was called by a nurse to take my vital signs, swabbed my throat for strep and nose for flu. After that it was horrible! While waiting in the ER, one of the staff was rude to this young lady, all she wanted was for them to answer her question. They cut her off before she could get out her concern out. If its going to be a extremely long wait then they need to alarm the ill customers. Don't have them sitting there for long periods of hours, then when they ask how long the wait they get an attitude. I waited 5hrs then I left without being seen by a doctor, I called to Dell Seton to see what was my results and the guy told me he couldn't tell. I would have to call Medical Records which they are closed today for Thanksgiving! Why couldn't I've gotten a answer over the phone. They would have told me if I stayed! Just sorry! In the medical field it's not the same anymore. I miss the older nurses and doctors that already retired. These young adults don't have no good customer service. Will not be returning. Wish I could give no stars.

I was in the hospital for 7 hours. I understand that labs may take a while. But being at the ER for 7 hours is way to long. The doctor was great. But after I saw the doctor I waited an hour and 30 minutes to be discharged. I had to go up to one of the staff and remind them I was being discharged. I feel like the staff there all they do is talk and not really pay attention to what there job is.

I went into the ER because I hit my head, and almost bit all the way through my tongue due to a seizure. The staff was very nice, even the doctor who was a resident. Unfortunately, he spent all of 3-5 minutes with me, then got a phone call and said he’d be back. He never came back. While in with me, he asked maybe 2 questions, and didn’t seem very interested anyway. I was in pain, and had to finally ask a nurse for some Tylenol. They did do a cat scan, but I was hoping for some X-rays too. Although they were all very nice and efficient, I didn’t feel like I was taken very good care of. I would recommend you ask for a Doctor to see you along with a resident if that’s what you get. I wish I would have.

Nice courteous staff but service sucks. I was there almost 8 hours after I got off from work just to find out what I currently was fine. It was comforting knowing the test that they ran came back normal on many accounts. I was given a muscle relaxer and a prescription for my pinch nerve...so far not much has changed yet. My suggestion is to communicate more to patient on where they stand on the list and not give them this false hope that it won't be long. Let the patient decide if they want to stay or go to another ER. I also empathetic towards the staff. It appears they're working hard trying to accommodate patients and they don't have enough nurses to meet the demand. Anyway that's my perception and I'm sticking with it. Best Regards.

My experience at Seton is good, although if someone's step is painful, they should attend to it immediately. I arrived in a lot of pain and had to wait a little.
