Great museum! This was my first time here and I really loved it. Lots of great art and the main museum joined with the mansion were all stunning. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. I’m looking forward to returning when they reopen the 19th century exhibit in a couple weeks.

Hats off to The Walters Art Museum and their wide range of exhibits! If you are looking for Egyptian sculptures dated back to 1390 B.C. or 1800’s British Colonial tea pots, the Walters have curated it all! The facilities are clean and orderly. With expansive layouts, these artifacts have amazing views and are labeled with easy to find descriptions. The best part about TWAM is that it's free. For the whole experience, check out the food court on the main floor. Unfortunately floors 4 and 5 are closed as of this review (for maintenance and remodel). The museum does offer self-guided tours via headset but was not available at the time of this review.

This is a great museum! They had a wonderful Egyptian exhibit on display when we visited last October. This museum is free, and still open during the pandemic. You have to wear a mask and practice social distancing, but you can still enjoy the museum.

Quick visit while going to see the lighting of the monument. Two convenient garages on Mulberry between St.Paul & Liberty make several tourist spots & restaurants walkable. The marble inside Walters is beautiful. Will go back to see more. The fireworks are great every year. Get there.

To say this place was a hidden gem is an understatement. There were so many rare items you would've sworn you were at some world-renowned museum! Check it out if you just need to be surrounded by an atmosphere of baronial splendor or religious calm,The Walter's museum is a must see!

What an excellent museum. They have a strong collection of ancient, Egyptian, medieval, and European art. Their current exhibition on Asian art was fantastic too, and I will be back to see the Ethiopian exhibition in December. The gift shop also has an excellent selection of books. I highly recommend coming to this museum.

One of my favorite art museums ever (and I’ve been to many)! I absolutely love how they display everything and put so much thought into the gallery walls! Fun little rooms to go into and historical pieces! And FREE? Doesn’t get any better than that!

Excellent museum with diverse collection of art from various centuries in a variety of mediums. Price was perfect at FREE and staff and docents were friendly and helpful. Currently showcasing a type of pottery from the United Kingdom with vivid colors courtesy of a lead based glaze that highlights the health impact of those who worked on the pieces.

Great Art Museum! If you have never been here, make it a point to visit. It is free to get in, just be generous when you see the donation box to keep it free. The Art Work and items on display in this museum are amazing. I would suggest you make a day trip just for this Art Museum. There is that much displayed within the museum. I can say, I went with 2hrs till closing and didn't get to see everything within the museum. I will be returning again to actually take my time and see everything they have on display.

Personally, I'm not the biggest fan of art museums, but this one offers something for everyone! I really enjoyed strolling through all the different exhibits, which are arranged meticulously and purposefully. Do yourself a favor and stop by when you can! Oh, and here's one more major plus: admission is completely free!

Lovely destination for tourists and citizens on Baltimore. There are many truly stunning art pieces here. Despite none of them being extremely famous, the sheer age and intricacy of some of the pieces is insanely cool. Fantastic museum, really really lovely place

Disappointing It is always a great shame when the most interesting thing in a museum is the gift shop. But, I fear, at the Walter’s Art Museum of Baltimore we appear to have arrived at exactly that dilemma. The collection within this establishment’s walls reflects much of the abject decline and poverty that surrounds it (with now even the local hostel having shuttered). There are some nice objects but, like the city itself, precious little that you haven’t seen before or would want to write home about. To remedy this situation, I recommend the museum gets its hands on a wad of regeneration cash and RELOCATES *gasps* It’d be a good idea to set up shop at the recently renovated port area, which is thriving!

I really enjoyed the museum. They have some really cool exhibits. It was a very peaceful, very quiet experience. It was so great to see the many varieties of history they have. Best of all, the admission was free! Check them out; you'll enjoy it!

I absolutely love this museum! With free entry, it offers fantastic value and there's so much to see. Multiple floors of art cover everything from Japanese artwork through to Roman and Renaissance. The site mainly covers two buildings- the primary museum site which is connected to 1 West Mount Vernon Place which has more of a feel of a classic home collection (don't miss the Cabinet of Curiosities room and excellent armour collection!). There really is something for everyone and it's so inspiring to see such a range of artworks. There's a really nicely curated gift shop and small cafe too!

Wonderful free museum although donations are appreciated. Went to the Asian and Islamic Art Exhibit and saw some beautiful pieces from places I may never be able to travel to such as Iran. Museum is not too big so you can take your time. It's in a nice neighborhood close to the Washington Memorial. Lovely place to spend an afternoon.

It is impossible to not give this place five stars. The museum is free. You can just walk in, not pay a thing, and enjoy floors and floors of amazing art and artifacts. It is a place where you can go and spend the entire day. Bring a sketchbook. Practice drawing the pieces. Bring your camera, and practice close-up photography. Bring nothing, and just learn all of the different facts that are attached to each piece. It is one of my favorite places to go in Baltimore. They have also done a fantastic job of making sure that they are culturally relevant. They do not shy away from the racism and colonialism that may have brought some of the pieces to the museum. Whenever I recommend people visit Baltimore, this place is always the top of my list.

Highly recommend visiting. It's free! They have lockers to put your stuff in that are self set. The stuff looks authentic and beautifully crafted. It's quiet and clean inside. People were respectful and kind (staff and other visitors). There were 4 levels and a second building. I thought I'd spend an hour there, but I could have spent 3 hours there. There is a great store/food area by the front lobby, too!

Beautiful collections from all over the world and so well arranged. Everything was put together so nicely and each area was clearly marked so you wouldn't get lost. Can't believe it was free! Awesome place to hang out for a while on a rainy day and really take in the art.

Enjoyed it! We’re just late when we came here, we came around 4:30 and they’ll close at 5pm. So we didn’t had the chance to see everything. But whatever we saw, we really enjoyed it still!

A first class collection that compares well with any museum I’ve visited. After over a year of being spoiled in France, I can still say that this museum has both a breadth and depth that took me by surprise. It’s a real gem.

The 17th Century art museum was impressive. The three floors had exhibits from around the globe including the architecture, animals, weapons, pottery and paintings. The museum shop was well-equipped. There was a small coffee shop as well. Some great views from the top floor.

I love the Walters! This is one of my favorite museums. They have a great collection that is laid out very nicely in a wonderful building. It isn't huge so you can spend time really looking at the pictures and artifacts. That's probably why I like it so much. You don't get lost like in the Met or the Louvre😂 I also love the special events and exhibits. Thanks for the great work to all the people at the Walters!

Free admission, excellent art gallery, friendly staff around each floor. Clean and cool building. Please remember when you come to only drink water in the elevator area and if bringing backpacks must wear them in the front to prevent them from hitting a statue.

Please go check this new Asia Art Collection out, it’s amazing. I was rushing and wanted to spend about an hour at the museum. I ended up spending more than 3 hours and the security people had to tell me to get ready to leave ( nicely thought) because the Museum will close in 5min 😂. I was hooked 😂. The Asian Art Collection on the 4th floor is new and impressive. - I spent a long time checking the Japanese art pieces. I felt in love with the Samouraï Piece. The swords and the blue white ceramics were also great pieces. - I’m glad that a Security team member told me about the Quran that was available at the Islamic Art Connection room. This Quran is breathtaking. The calligraphy and craftsmanship of the pieces in that room is mind blowing. Beside the religious side that I loved 🥰 I greatly appreciated how this collection featured the Calligraphy related to Islam and the Arabic language. Check it, it’s unique. - The giants golden or gold platted Sword in the Islamic Art Connection was my favorite piece. It’s beautiful, but also functional. I learned that it was made to be an ornament and was functional as he could be used to shoot. Mind blowing. - The next Piece I likes was the Thammat. This piece was assembled at the museum. It’s a Thai Temple shaped structure. There is so much to be said… I was mesmerized by all the craftsmanship behind these unique art pieces. I’m going back and will keep you posted!!!

Absolute gem in Baltimore with something for every member of the family. Museum is housed in a beautiful building across the street from a large parking lot and includes a lovely place to eat, children's programs, and gift shop. I highly recommend it for a unique experience.

Extensive collection. Free, not busy, and very interesting. They currently have a temporary exhibit focusing on a local jewelry designer, which isn't entirely my thing, bit they made it interesting mine the less. The armory ruins were interesting and so was the grand hall. There were certainly some.... Interesting pieces mixed in as well.

The Walter's Art Gallery is a treasure of Baltimore. A free sanctuary of inspiration and insight into the nature of being human. Beautiful and provocative images that reveal the fundamentals of the human experience. This particular trip I was amazed by the treasury. Yet, the diversity of works held in the Walter's collection is amazing reveal how we have changed and stayed the same over the centuries. Finally, this trip I also found pure joy in a stairwell. Specifically I found art created by children during a workshop held at the Walter's. Not refined art, but inspirational all the same. Search for it. You won't be sorry.

This museum is a gem in Baltimore! It's truly an expansive art museum and easily requires 2-3 hours to fully explore. Each room is beautifully decorated and well thought-out, and the atmosphere is lovely.

I saw advertisements for this museum walking around on my trip to the inner harbor. Needless to say, this is a hidden gem! The staff was super friendly, all the art was lovely to see, and it was completely free! I was honestly surprised of how little people there were (although we visited on a Thursday afternoon, so it might be busier on weekends). We are definitely coming back if we go to the harbor again!

This place was so cool. I haven't been to many art museums, but I would imagine this is the gold standard. Standard. There are items from every part of the world here, and just even being inside. Inside the building is mind-blowing. It was so amazing!

Free admission! Lots of exhibits to see. The one that I got to see and is currently up is Ethiopian art. Every first Thursday they have a community engagement event. I went on a weekday so it was quite empty. I recommend looking at the Asian art ( top floor) and work your way down to the others.
