This is a pre-historic site for those that love history. It has a wide range of remains of early humans and their subsistence living. Tucked along the Nairobi-Magadi highway, it is rather isolated from the rest of the area and this makes it an ideal place full of serene quiet away from the bustle of city or town life. There is a display of geological strata of earth surface, a number of crude weapons used by the early men and some sites which were still being excavated. If you like history as I do, this is the place you may want to detour as you go to Lake Magadi. The staff in charge are friendly, helpful and show great understanding of the subject matter at hand. You will get all manner of responses to the question you field to them. Additionally, you get a very clear view of Shompole hills from this place.

It's just amazing knowing that people lived here 800,000 years ago. The landscape was different. Back then where we are standing was a lake but now it's dry like crazy and the closest lake is lake Magadi which blows my mind. Our life on earth is a speck in time I tell you. This is a must see for all humans. Enjoy the tour with a guide. Bring your own snacks and drinks or you can buy them in the town before this. There's #camping on the site for 3$ per person or you can sleep in their #rooms for 15$ per room. No electricity but there are charging stations to charge your phone. #Beautiful scenery I tell you. #letsguide

Perfectly placed if you want a quick day trip out of Nairobi. An accessible and dramatic change of scenery in these times of limited travel. Pack a picnic.

(Translated by Google) Paleolithic ruins 64 km southwest of Nairobi. In the place where it was a lake, bones of homo electos and accompanying hand axes, stone balls, and bones that we had eaten were excavated. Today, it is an arid area covered with white soil of diatomaceous earth, and the ruins become an open-air museum. The entrance fee was about 700 yen, and paid the other guide fee.
