Lewa House was incredible. Gorgeous views - including eating breakfast while watching animals visiting the watering hole. The family who owned the place and the entire staff were wonderful. The food was inspired. Our guide Joseph was one of the highlights of our stay - he was so knowledgeable, personable, and funny. He was incredibly connected to the land and wildlife and people, and his passion came through clearly.

Without a doubt, the most wonderful place we have ever stayed. It was perfect for traveling with a toddler…friendly dog + farm animals + trampoline + pool during the day, and then there was a baby sitter available so the adults could have fun at night. The managers, James and Veronica, were so lovely to chat and have dinner with, and they ensured our entire visit went just as smooth as could be. All the meals we had were splendid as well. We truly felt we had the trip of a lifetime staying at Lewa House

We had the most wonderful weekend away! If I could give more stars to recommend this hidden gem, I would!!! I have traveled around the world, stayed in many hotels and safari adventures. I have yet to come across such a remarkable getaway. I can honestly find no fault or criticism. The room was comfy, romantic and filled with everything you needed from hot water bottles placed in your bed at night, books .. the works. Very attentive to detail and personal small touches. Including an incredible view. The staff were helpful, friendly and professional. The game driver was informative. The hosting from the owners was over and above! Incredible service and hosting hands down! Every meal was scrumptious. So tasty and homely. Of course the nature and wildlife was heavenly, how could it not be. I cannot recommend Lewa House enough, they exceeded every expectation. To have a swim/ meal and watch wildlife next to you was just surreal. Individual attention to each client. Private Dinner under the stars which felt like you were in another world! Farewell greetings from each staff member when you left. Thank you for an amazing anniversary getaway!!! This by far topped my husbands proposal in Thailand which speaks volumes on its own! Our family will most certainly be back, you made a vacation with a handful toddler very relaxing and enjoyable! From the bottom of our hearts thank you for a holiday that will be treasured forever! - Wilcox Family

There are many ways to experience Africa & Lewa House is simply one of the best. Who does not want to feel like at home & spend meals & drinks with your favorite uncle & aunt. Yes, Sophia & Callem are running Lewa House and making you feel comfortable & delight you with endless stories, adventures, the most beautiful views, uniquely design rooms, the most wonderful staff & tasteful organic meals. They have managed to create a high end eco friendly location that will blow your mind and will show you the many ways in which we can adjust to help our planet. Highly recommend a long weekend &/or one of your stops while navigating through Kenya & Lewa Downs.

Lewa house is hidden on an elevated position for great views. There is a massive shared living space/atrium that feels homely with intricate decorations and trinkets that have a story behind them. Rooms were exotic and tastefully decorated. Food was lovely with ingredients from the garden and milk from the cows. We had dinner outdoors in the stars facing the outdoors. Service was personalised and we felt more like family friends/guests rather than just users of the place. Our guide Joseph always had a smile and also was passionate about wildlife which meant game drives with him was always exciting. Would recommend minimum of 3 days stay to get the best out of this superb place.

Sophie and Calum are most gracious hosts. There staff are some of the best in East Africa. If you want to view white and black rhino in their habitat, as well as many other animals (and hedgehogs) this a wonderful place. Calum and his stories at the Hand Axe site are not to be missed. Note the pictures of skulls I posted. Food and accommodation are first class. Sophie's stories about her five generations of family growing up at Lewa show a fortitude that has lead to the Lewa of today. Only a little over one hour by air, less than 5 hours by mostly dirt road from Nairobi.

The entire experience at Lewa was fantastic from the food to the amazing hospitality and wildlife. The hosts (Veronica and James) were outstanding and made me feel so welcome. Joseph was my guide for the 3 days I was there and he was incredibly knowledgeable about the wildlife and patient with my nonstop questions. The room was amazing and even included an outdoor tub with a fireplace. I loved sitting on my porch and watching zebra, gazelle, and Elans walking by. The staff was outstanding, especially John, the bartender. He always seemed to have a Dawa ready for me and could almost read my mind as far as what adult beverage I wanted. There may be bigger parks and more wildlife in other places in Kenya but the combination of great hospitality, incredible lodging, and amazing wildlife made this my favorite stop when I visited Kenya.

Sophie and Callum were incredibly welcoming, and they along with the very attentive staff made us feel like extended family during our stay. We stayed in an Earth Pod style room was spacious, comfortable and unique in their design. The huge veranda and outdoor bathtub was a luxurious touch! Breakfast and lunch is usually served on their luscious yet immaculate lawn with a beautiful view. Meals are served to all guests sitting at one or two long tables, which further reinforced the 'familial' tone you get when staying at Lewa House. Our guide throughout our stay was David, who's an absolute pro when it comes to game spotting and explaining all life in the area (even the trees!) We absolutely enjoyed our stay and our surprise bush breakfast and dinner we had while there.
