Had lunch here yesterday, the food was not good at all. You could tell that the taco meat was made many hours ago, and even though the condiments such as tomatoes, cheese, lettuce, were fresh, please bring them to room temperature before adding them to the tacos. Unfortunately with the meat not tasting that good I have a feeling that this Taco John's will go of the way of the Taco John's on South Alpine and go out of business here in the next 6 to 8 months unless they do something drastic and make especially the taco meat constantly fresh. You can tell that it's been sitting out for a very long time that they're constantly adding water to it to try to make it fresh but doing so makes it lose all its taste and whatever taste you can get from a makes it extremely salty. The other reviewers who actually came out here and said the food was absolutely fabulous must not eat Mexican food often. I love it how people say that they love the Potato Oles , it's funny, it's round tater tots with Lawry's seasoning salt on them. Honestly folks, making tacos at home would taste much much better than the quality you get here at this Taco John's location. The quality and pride just isn't here anymore. There is a reason why out of three thriving stores several years ago in Rockford, there's just only one left.

Sunday October 23rd 5:10-530 pm. You have lost me as a customer. Sat in line at drive up for 20 minutes. During that time. 3 different employees look out the back door and one sat on a bench outside. Bench guy went inside. Last guy looking out the door left. No one waited on anyone in line . Customer ahead of me asked several times if anyone was there. I left and so did the other people in line. From one small business person to another. I would read this to those employees and fire them. Best of luck.

Good fast food breakfast! The breakfast burrito scrambler is a nice combination of eggs, cheese, onions, peppers and your choice of meat (sausage, bacon or steak). Steak has an additional cost. Wednesday morning's they have a sale on all breakfast burritos. They are only $2.59. Overall good experience and the good was good as well!

Both the soft and hard tacos are delicious. Sooo much better than that one place with the bell. A lot better quality at taco johns! Their little potato bites "pounds" are addicting. Yummm. The sauce packets weren't too spicy sadly. Even the hot wasnt too hot, But flavorful. I'll definitely go back to try other items.

Ordered my food , as I was pulling around waiting , I saw that everyone cooking and handling food had their masks under their chins.... and we’re not wearing gloves . They were talking and laughing over everyone’s food. When I got to the window I told the girl I was not getting my food and why. She looked stunned, confused, and surprised I didn’t want her coworkers germs. Food should always be handled with gloves and masks even before the pandemic . Will never go there again.

There is the sweetest, most soft spoken man that works at this Taco John's. He needs to record lullabies his voice is so calming. I will come back just to be calmed by his wonderful voice. Besides that I like the potato oles! For real, stop in and see for yourself

This Taco Johns is a joke. For 1 they forgot my potato ole and I didn’t realize it until I was home (make sure you check your order before leaving). 2. Taco Tuesday they charge $1.79 for a soft shell taco! Every other taco johns (including the one on Alpine in Rockford 10 minutes away) charges .99

Closed early due to grill malfunctions ?? Understandable but you have other items on the menu available for order I had to basically beg to be served potato oles - because those aren’t made on the grill. But the cheese was already put up. Why close up everything early when only the grill had issues. Also, maybe turn off the open sign if you’re going to advertise yourself as non-operational when a customer pulls up Idk if this was a manger or a grill person I was speaking to But if this was a manger they did a very poor job tonight and clearly don’t care about customers or reoccurring business. Below is the recipe to the potato ole seasoning- it’s a pretty good copy cat- I’ll end my review with the recipe and stating how I won’t waste my time ever coming back to this location which I frequented regularly I will give my money to companies who wouldn’t have an issue heating some cheese up for me when you’re still open for about 25 more min This recipe is pretty spot on and gives you a large enough amount to put in a bottle and save for later TACO JOHNS POTATO OLE SEASONING 4 tsp Lawry's seasoning salt 2 tsp Paprika 1 tsp Cayenne Pepper 1 tsp Cumin 1/2 bag cooked Crispy Crowns (flat tater tots) ENJOY!!! Update: it’s been 2 months since I originally posted my review. I have not been back. It’s true that you do lose customers due to poor business. I think about going all the time on the way home from work, but it’s just not worth my dollar :(

Best Tacos ever!! Taco Johns is far beyond better than any competitor, even the most commercialized one! Please bring Taco Johns to Akron/Canton/Portage Lakes, Ohio!!! We need some good food in that area!!! Thanks for such yummy good food!

Their loaded meat & potatoe breakfast burrito definatly got smaller than 3 years ago, they are now the size of the old junior burritos, and the current juniors, are litteraly just a tortilla folded once with a bit of stuff inside, barely worth the price. Or breakfast still worth getting are the potatoe ollays. Those will never let me down.

Currently only cash, when the window says debit preferred. Very confusing.

  • 4/5 Sharon C. 1 year ago on Google
The wait was a bit longer than I would have expected. My food was lukewarm. Very tasty and with the coupon price was acceptable. Take into consideration it was National Taco day and Taco Tuesday. Think they were busier than I've ever seen them.

Great atmosphere to eat with friends and family. Decent-priced food, although sometimes it does not seem to be the freshest, but when I brought it to the employee's attention, they fixed it right away, and it was fresh and very delicious. Good tentative employees!

    great place. good food

  • 3/5 Michael P. 4 years ago on Google
The food is better than Taco Bell, but way too expensive. When I started going regularly for "Taco Tuesday", a taco was only $0.49. Today they are exactly the same tacos but $0.99. I wish my salary had doubled just like the price of these tacos.

Food is typically really good at this location, ole's can be soggy at times though. On a hot day this is my go to place for a large drink, it's the biggest cup around.

Wow. Went on a craving, food was fresh, hot and yummy! Staff was so pleasant and so nice. Love me some potato ole's!

Fast food is fast food. They make a simple hard corn shell taco I like. My wife really likes the taco salad. Bring back the apple granda.

Ordered nachos supreme 2 of them told them the guacamole on the side so they tried to charge me for 2 sides of guacamole the manager credited me for the guacamole so if you go there double check your receipt before you leave food was good

No sour cream, when I asked for some they said they dont carry it. What taco place doesnt have sour cream its a taco staple....

  • 3/5 katherine G. 1 year ago on Google
Honestly the only thing I like is the quesadillas. The tacos just don't taste right. It doesn't taste like a taco , it throws off the whole experience. The tatortots are usually a hit or miss. Top salty or not at all.

  • 2/5 Lisa L. 11 months ago on Google
I ordered a Chicken and cheese soft taco it was more cheese than anything that's all I could taste. And my tots looked and tasted like they were cooked in old oil. Not a fan anymore I used to be but not after this trip it made me have an upset stomach. Sorry Taco Johns this customer won't be returning any time soon.

I was at the gas station next door and noticed the sign for their taco salad special. Friendly employees, quick service and the taco salad was excellent. Great lunch! Thanks!

I had stopped in months ago and actually left a 5 star rating. Ordered door dash and they were delivered in aboutv20 minutes. Problem was we Ordered 2 dr peppers and got one diet coke. Missed to grilled and the hard shell tacos were soggy and falling apart. Call up and thought they made an easy resolution they were to replace my order and instead they still only screamed at me and said I only wanted a free meal. I spent over a 100 dollars and was treated like a bum because my order was completely wrong. Never unless the fire that rude couple behind the window will I ever eat there. Here a fee pics of the soggy tacos. Missed quite a bit aswell. And refused to give me the green sauce. Bad thing is we may have been able to eat those if we didn't have to wait an hour to eat because if the trip I had to take back to the store.

Very good food , very clean and only drawback was the woman in the nack yellimg "i have to leave right now" and the rap music blaring from the back

  • 3/5 Brandon N. 1 year ago on Google
It's ok. Never got why people liked taco johns other then their potatoe bites. If u want Mexican food just go to a real hispanic restaurant like Olivos tacos.

As fast food places go it's okay. The food is edible. Not really Mexican food but on the whole it's better than Taco Bell. I've had probably everything on the menu. Nothing really stands out as being especially good but nothing really stands out as being especially bad either. Service is usually good and the drive up crew is usually friendly and attentive. I have had them forget my condiments more than once, or a fork.

Taco Bravos have jumped up in price tremendously over the last couple of years. A couple of years ago they were $1.49-$1.59 each on Taco Bravo Thursday, they are now $2.69!

  • 1/5 Howard 3 years ago on Google
Stopped by today for lunch. I apparently made the mistake of interrupting 2 employees during their smoke break. That is ok though, they were nice enough to flip my son and myself off to let us know how they felt about us trying to purchase some tacos. I won't be returning and I would advise everyone else do the same. I just don't trust them making my food if something as simple as my presence is such an inconvenience to them.

  • 2/5 Katherine M. 3 years ago on Google
The food was alright. The price is alot more then I remember a year ago. This pandemic has raised the prices (probably).

Best potato Ola's I've had yet, fresh ingredients, and not skimpy on the potatoes. The staff was very friendly and got my food out to me hot and just as I ordered it. Thank you for making fantastic yummy food for me and everyone who stops here 👻

I used to love Taco John's but anymore its just not very good and it's extremely overpriced!!! A lot of the time the service is horrible and about 8 out of 10 visits they either forget something or make it wrong. Their potato Ole's or a cherry Pepsi are about the only reason I go. Just not the same as a long time ago.
