I had a wonderful dinner at Ash Bar! The service was impeccable and the food was even better. However, there was a total different vibe at Bloom (the cocktail bar). The host was super gracious with seating us upon our arrival. There was nine people seated at the bar and 4 tables with guest. I waited and waited for the gentleman to approach to ask for my drink order and it never happened. It was so obvious that the host came over and offered me water. Instead the manager proceeded to serve the party of 4 who was seated two parties after I was. I donā€™t want to say this was about race, but I was the only person of color there besides the host and mixologist. I was never acknowledged, but every other party was. As I was leaving the host graciously apologized and then the manager approached. I explained that I would reach out to the GM Jim. He didnā€™t issues an apology or Iā€™m so sorry, he simply said okay. What kind of leader (manager) does that??

Last night I visited this hotel with my son. Not overnight as we live in the neighborhood and I could not have been more pleased. We started out having a drink in the "Bloom Bar" which I may add is absolutely chic, amazing, fabulous and they know how to pour a drink! The patrons were all very well dressed, no sloppy t shirts and sweats!!! The staff was well spoken, polite and very gracious. From there we went across to the Ash Bar which is their restaurant. Jordan, our waitress was an angel as was the restaurant manager, "Char". The restaurant will blow your mind. There is NOTHING like it in Baltimore or Baltimore County. The decor takes you back to years ago when patrons could sit and have a cocktail and read a newspaper in the most delightful setting. Beautiful plants and lighting fixtures abound. No corners have been cut when they brought this venue back to life. If you live in Mount Vernon you MUST GO. The prices are extremely reasonable and the food delicious. If you love melon and prosciutto you will feast on theirs. Thank you for Char for making our night MORE THAN AMAZING!!!!!

Our (much too) brief stay at this gorgeous hotel was outstanding from beginning to end. The attention paid to every detail of the place was as surprising as it was stunning. Bloom's provided us a phenomenal late night cocktail experience and Ash Bar was an awesome place to have a quiet bite to eat and a glass of wine. Truly a gem of a place. I can't wait to come back!

What a cool place to stay. It felt like another world inside the hotel- to agree with the negative reviews- yes the hotel is dark, service was a little slow in the Ash Bar, but that is part of the experience of this moody, dimly-lit, slowed-down space. We had a little room with a full bed, with the toilet in its own little room to the side and the shower and sink one the other. The bed was so cozy, the decor so cool and unique. We enjoyed drinks at the bloom bar- the bartender made a delicious mocktail for me. We also enjoyed breakfast at the Ash Bar. We loved reading the morning paper in the lounge seating while waiting for our table. Service was a bit slow but was made up for with complimentary cheese scones and polite, friendly servers. The food was worth the wait once it arrived. Location was fab as well and we found good street parking nearby!

What a fabulous experience from start to finish. My husband and I were in town for business. I picked this boutique hotel on a whim I am so glad I did. Our two-night stay in The Tomorrow Suite was quiet, comfortable, and an absolute pleasure for all the senses. The food and drink for night and day are phenomenal. However, the bartender could use a little training moment in customer service. My husband and I especially enjoyed the breakfast of smoked salmon and the delightful fresh fruit salad. The staff was courteous, with Tia being the star of the hotel. Tia is so kind and thoughtful, and her attention to detail is what I would expect from a hotel of this quality. PS The robes are outstanding! I always bring my robe, but I did not unpack it. Treat yourself to some fun and relaxation!

This hotel is an absolute treat. So beautifully designed, comfortable, and the perfect ensemble of slightly edgy elegance. The bed was comfortable, the room clean, and the shower got nice and hot. The roomā€™s design was perfect, and the whole hotel had a delicious vibe. Itā€™s clear that a lot of thought went into every space and experience here. Had the pleasure of visiting both the bar and restaurant downstairs. Ash Bar had fairly priced plates and awesome service. Bloomā€™s was a damn dream, the service and drinks were spot on. As with the rest of the hotel, these spaces were both wonderfully designed. The hotelā€™s location is perfect, there are some nice walkable sights nearby. I hope my path takes me back to this hotel in the future because itā€™s immaculate.

The hotel rooms are really dated. I get thatā€™s the aesthetic but it was borderline too old. It felt dusty. The location is central-ish. The service was pretty bad. They did not replace the towel or the bedding. I had to request that. I asked for late checkout, they only gave an extra 30 minutes (ok fine) but then had the staff beating down my door multiple times as I was getting ready to walk out. It left a really bad taste in my mouth overall and I wouldnā€™t rebook there ever again.

The Ulysses is an amazing new addition to the hotel options in Baltimore. Our group felt like we were in The Great Gatsby or the Roaring 20's. The attention to detail is incredible. What a great use of a historic Baltimore building. You should definitely consider a stay here when visiting.

This hotel had one of the prettiest rooms I've ever seen! Front desk staff was very helpful, and they were understanding when I messed up the checkout time. One drawback: there is no hotel parking, so you have to find your own parking on street lots. Fortunately there was one quite close, but I didn't care for having to leave my car on a street lot overnight. Also, I don't recommend the downstairs bar/club. It's pricey and a little pretentious, like they're trying to mimic Las Vegas bottle service. If we'd known, we would have gone across the street to a cute little wine bar instead. However, I do highly recommend the hotel itself for the rooms and the desk staff.

Set in the heart of Baltimore, Hotel Ulysses is a testament to luxury and architectural finesse. My wife and I recently had the privilege of spending a night here, and the experience was nothing short of delightful. The design, courtesy of the renowned New York firm Ash, flawlessly marries historical charm with modern elegance. While the rooms might lean on the snug side, they dazzle with plush comforts and intricate detailing. It's evident that at Ulysses, every nuance has been thoughtfully curated, blending the city's rich past with its vibrant present. Nods to Baltimore's heritage are evident throughout, from the preserved brass postal box to the delightful flamingo carvings paying homage to John Waters' iconic "Pink Flamingos." Yet, the interiors also showcase a contemporary flair, as seen in the chic hickory wood furniture and vibrant textiles. A minor hiccup was the unexpected $35 "destination fee." However, the redeemable $20 credit at either the exquisite Ash Bar or the lively Blooms bar more than compensated. Speaking of Blooms, it's an ambiance-rich haven, perfect for unwinding and a must visit if you're staying at The Ulysses or simply nearby. Ash Bar was also great, and the food was incredible, albeit the service seemed a bit disorganized and out of tune, but I would certainly dine again! Also just a tip: the lighting is dim throughout the building, including the room, so those with vision concerns might want to keep that in mind. It wasn't a detriment to us, but some folks might find it difficult. In essence, Hotel Ulysses is an embodiment of Baltimore's diverse soul and quirk. Whether it's the history, avant-garde design, or the overall ambiance, Ulysses strikes the right chord. A stay here is not just recommended; it's an experience not to be missed! We will be back!

Last month my partner and I spent three wonderful nights at the Ulysses. From the first moment, we were transported to a mash-up of places and times, meticulously designed by people who clearly know what they're doing. Our 9th-floor room (the Gattopardo Suite) gave great views of Mount Vernon and the Washington Monument. There were so many excellent restaurants, museums, and other essential sights (e.g. the Peabody Institute library just a block away) within steps of the door. The hotel itself has three excellent and different eating/drinking venues that are worthy destinations in their own right. The premises were spotless, and the room, with its funky and daring layout and design, still managed to put comfort above all of it. We highly recommend a visit to Baltimore and a stay a the Ulysses.

I stayed at Ulysses quite a few times and let me tell you nothing tops their receptions customer service! There are 2 young ladies that work here who are top tier and boy when I tell you they deserve more than a raise I mean it! Tia & Jasmine are so underrated/ looked over that no one knows how big of a deal they are to this hotel! Anytime I've had anything go wrong or just conversation I can count on them to always be present and attentive! As a regular of the Ulysses hotel I recommend you pop your head in just to say high and they will greet you with the biggest smile and heartfelt hello ever! They deserve their flowers outside of all reviews for the other outlets. Ulysses your Front Desk staff is probably one of the best in Baltimore. Please cherish them!

We really enjoyed our stay and especially all the efforts made to differentiate this hotel from others. We love the design aesthetic, the comfort of the beds, the staff who extend themselves to make us comfortable. And I do have to tell you the strawberry jam served with breakfast is to die for.

I stayed at the Ulysses the other night in a queen room & couldnā€™t have been happier/ more impressed. I was in love with every detail in my roomā€”the mirrors were gorgeous, the bed super comfy & also unique, the bathroom inspired my future home! The staff were super kind & answered any of my questions promptly! I had a salad from the ash restaurant & it was once of the best salads Iā€™ve ever had! Was a 3 minute walk from the Washington monument of Baltimore & I had a view of it from my room. Will 100% be returning someday.

Hotel is lovely and has loads of character but the room is extremely hot. The hotel controls the thermostat so that Heat is the only option this time of year. Weā€™ve asked several times for the AC to be turned on but no luck. Now Iā€™m lying here in an 80 degree room at 2am and cannot fall asleepā€¦ We had a great time at Ash Bar earlier this evening but Iā€™m not sure that I want to spend another night here if the climate situation isnā€™t resolved.

We came here for NYE and had a blast! We went to Bloom for drinks (worth it for the ambiance alone) and Ash Bar for brunch the next morning (killer gravlax plate). The room was comfortable and felt like our own little world. Highly recommend this spot for a romantic getaway or if you just want to feel cool and swanky for a weekend.

We didnā€™t stay hereā€”only stopped in for drinks for our 5 year anniversary. So so glad we did. Service was fantastic, from the person who put our name on the waiting list to the bartender. Wonderfully appointed. Ash Bar was closed but we peaked our head in and it was stunning with all that burl. The drinks at Bloom were amazing and well worth the wait for a seat. Enveloping and warm, textures everywhere. A special night for sure.

This is a review Iā€™m almost reluctant to write because I donā€™t know if I want the secret to get out (selfish!)ā€¦. A hidden gem I know will be discovered soon and good for them! GORGEOUS lobby, bar, rooms. Never seen anything like it and Iā€™ve been all over. Beautiful, sophisticated and quirky decor, not for the faint of heart. Obliging and professional staff. Excellent food and drinks. Have stayed twice in the last month and will keep coming. Please make the robes available for sale! ā¤ļø

We had an amazing weekend staying here! From the very beginning when Asmayt, the wonderful woman running the valet stand, was so helpful and informative when we got in to the hotel very late (and very frazzled) on Friday. She was so friendly whenever we saw her and we very much appreciated her help. She went above and beyond, truly, and made us feel so welcome. The rooms were clean and new, and service was amazing. They have a front desk phone you can text requests to for things like ice or extra pillows, and they were so responsive! The restaurant, Ash Bar, is phenomenal. The prices are extremely reasonable and the food absolutely delicious. We went for dinner and had several dishes, all of which were great, and some absolutely incredible cocktails. I had the wild mushroom tart, and it was AMAZING because normally "wild mushrooms" can sometimes just be oysters or shitake, but here they had an amazing mix of perfectly roasted beech, king oyster, and one or two other mushrooms that were so good, I had to order a side of them for breakfast the next day. Breakfast was also delicious. Overall the whole stay was so enjoyable, relaxing, and very romantic. For the area, the price was an amazing value, I have had much worse experiences at hotels 3 times as expensive, so don't hesitate if you are considering staying here!

We stayed two nights at this beautiful boutique Baltimore hotel around the corner from our daughter's apartment. We found the hotel staff to be friendly and efficient. Many aspects of the facility are charming and lovely, but the designer, who apparently specializes in funeral home design, is unaware of the concept, Form Follows Function. While the lobby, Ash Bar/Restaurant and the Blooms Bar are gorgeous and a delight, someone else should have been in charge of the lobby restroom and guest bedrooms. My biggest complaint is the lighting. I have never been inside such a dark hotel, yet I am certain it was intended for the ambiance, not to reduce the energy bill. The bathroom was beautiful, with black fixtures and black & turquoise tile, but the only light was some arty tulip fixture with three tiny bulbs. Putting on makeup in the bathroom was as easy as doing so in the back of a movie theatre. There was no magnifying mirror, an appreciated fixture at many modern hotels, and there was no bureau or desk. The "closet" was a narrow frame with a fabric casing, with a narrow 4-tiered shelf taking up over half of the space on the left, while the right side had a brace with five hangers above the "minibar", a small tray with two bottles of water (not replenished on day 2) and a few snacks. Further, the bed was a four-poster canopy queen bed with very little clearance between the foot and the small upholstered bench. As a result, on the last night of our stay, I got up to use the bathroom in our very dark room, and when I returned to bed, smacked my head very hard on the bedpost. I decided to not try to go back to sleep for the rest of the night at that point, as being in my late sixties with a noticeable inch-long dent in my forehead and a headache, that it would be best to stay awake in case I had a concussion. This review was posted a week since our visit and my skull is still dented and a bit tender to the touch. Needless to say, no matter how convenient, we will never return. I also recommend that some white canes are added to the umbrella stand in the lobby.

Wonderful. We had an awesome stay to celebrate our 4-year anniversary. The staff made it feel like such a special occasion. The hotel itself is so unique and every detail has been thought through carefully. Bloom has the best old fashions ever. Make sure you stop in if youā€™re staying.

Very Cute Place! Great attention to details. Amazing quilts on the beds! Comfy beds. My room was on the smaller side, but the lovely details made up for any size restraints. All at very reasonable price. What is not to like?
