Statue of Liberty Museum: Please don’t miss to visit the Liberty Museum. You can see lots of historical photos and information about this monument. Inside the Theatre you can watch a documentary video that describes all about its history; I think everybody will enjoy watching this video and loving it.:-)

The Statue of Liberty Museum is a must-visit for anyone interested in the history of this iconic landmark. The museum is located on Liberty Island, and it is accessible by ferry from Battery Park in Manhattan. The museum tells the story of the Statue of Liberty from its conception to its construction to its present day. The exhibits are well-designed and informative, and they make the history of the statue come alive. One of the highlights of the museum is the original torch of the Statue of Liberty. The torch is on display in the museum's central rotunda, and it is a truly impressive sight. The museum also has a number of interactive exhibits that allow visitors to learn about the statue in a fun and engaging way. For example, there is an exhibit that allows visitors to see the view from the statue's crown, and there is another exhibit that allows visitors to experience the process of building the statue. Overall, the Statue of Liberty Museum is a great place to learn about the history of this iconic landmark. It is well-organized and informative, and it provides a great overview of the statue's construction and significance. I highly recommend visiting the museum if you are interested in learning more about the Statue of Liberty. Tips for visitors: The museum is open from 9am to 5:30pm daily. Admission is free for children under 13 and for members of the military. There is a cafe on the museum grounds where you can purchase food and drinks. The museum is wheelchair accessible.

The new museum was under construction the last time I visited. They did such a good job on showing the crucial details of Lady Liberty and her history. The movies, narrations, and exhibits we're all so well done. Travel tip: get the free self guided audio tour as you come in as they are very well done and are packed with information.

This was an interesting experience. This museum really clearly explained the history of the Statue of Liberty, including the construction and ongoing efforts to maintain it. It also discussed its place in American culture. I would definitely recommend it.

Entrance fee to this museum was included in a Liberty Ferry ticket price (bought by New York Pass). It covers history of the Statue of Liberty and is relatively small, we spent there around 30 minutes of Friday early afternoon (late October). There were some people but no crowds. If you are interested in curiosities about the Statue, I think it is worth visiting:-)

The trip across to seethe Iconic Liberty was an amazing experience itself but to discover this Museum on the Island was a bonus!!! Fascinating!!! Not a big Museum but full of artifacts and lots of information about Liberty herself and what she represents. The original torch is housed here. It's great to learn of how she came to be and how she still has influence across the globe. I definitely recommend a trip to this fascinating Museum

Free, fast to walk through even with reading. If you don't want to spend too much time but still want to get some historical facts about the statue of Liberty it's great ! It has everything from its elaboration to its construction to its fame. From a French visitor, I'm very amazed at how this island has attracted so many visitors at this French-American symbol. You can also go on the roof top, usually less frequented but has a nice view of NYC.

It was a great opportunity to learn about the history and significance of this great American monument and understand the history of the statue and its role as a beacon of hope and freedom for millions of immigrants who came to America in search of a better life. The museum features exhibits on the construction of the statue, its original purpose, and the people who played a key role in bringing it to life. It also showcases artifacts and historic documents that tell the story of the statue and its impact on American society. Additionally, the museum provides an opportunity to reflect on the values and ideals that the statue represents. It encourages us to think about the importance of freedom, democracy, and human rights, and to consider how they can contribute to creating a more just and equitable society.

Visited on a Tuesday (7/12/22), crowds were not that bad. I will tell you we left from the Liberty State Park (Jersey City) in NJ and immediately after clearing security there was no line and we were able to board the ferry before our 12pm ticket time which was awesome as it was a hot day and we were not prepared to be waiting in the sun but we got lucky. The Museum is air conditioned so it was a great place to take a break from the heat and enjoy the many displays and informational areas throughout the building.

Great time visiting the Statue of Liberty and the museum. Looks so small compared to everything else in New York but really impressive. Shame about all the construction work around the Statue but understandable in order to conserve the monument. Museum was really informative and it was reading up on the history and seeing the artifacts.

An amazing place with impressive exhibitions, important historical exhibits, lots of information and a short but very interesting film. I recommend not to miss this place when you come to visit the island.

This is a small museum next to the status of liberty. There's many exhibits and information displays in here. The main problem that I have about this museum is that food and drinks are not permitted inside. So people have to take turns going inside (someone holds the food and drinks outside) or people have to finish eating or drinking before they could enter the museum. Another thing I notice is the information in this museum is a bit redundance. I went to the statue of liberty and climbed up to the pedestal, and there's also a museum there that explains the same exact history about the statue of liberty.

Interesting background history of the Statue of liberty. Can get very busy at times. Best to get the 1st ship in the morning if you can.

The museum actually is a fancy version of the museum inside the pedestal. The theatre presents a lot of informative answers from the pedestal. If you don’t have tickets to the pedestal. This museum is even more details and fancier choice

Yes, the Statue is amazing but at this museum you will learn the story behind it. It's free and well worth your time. You will also see original artifacts that don't exist anywhere else. They also have very clean bathrooms and friendly park rangers.

A small museum but worth the time once your on the island. Maybe if it was a tad bigger a deeper story could be told but what is there is great.

Located on Liberty Island, just behind the Statue of Liberty, this museum has been created to help tourists learn a little extra about America's most iconic symbol. When you take the ferry to the island, I recommend going here before you go explore the glorious sculpture that towers over it. I can understand the impulse to just go and start photographing the Lady Liberty. But since you've made it so far and you're finally here, might as well make your while worth it and go away with more than just a few pictures. Oh and they have some stuff you can buy as memorabilia too. Good museum!

This place is well worth the visit preferably before you see the statue but also amazing checking it out afterward. If you’re strapped for time, check out the 10 minute movie in the theater. It gives so much context for the statue and also the rest of the museum! It’s also really cool to catch the original torch on exhibit!

Included in your ticket. The have a short 30 minute video about the history of the statue of Liberty (broken up into 3 separate 10 min videos). The museum has a scale replica of one of the feet and the face, as well as the original torch. (There is also a museum in the 2nd floor of the pedestal that has very similar information as the museum building)

No entrance fee and has everything about the history of the statue. There is also an actual torch portion from the past. The roof platform is a nice place to take photos with good views.

Obviously the Statue of Liberty is what you come to liberty Island for, but the SOL museum is a definite cherry on top when it come to complimenting lady liberty. So much information and pictures/stories about what happened on the island or renovations and whatnot on the statue.

Although this is not the biggest of museums it’s actually quite interesting! If your visiting the Statue of Liberty definitely take a look round it here it’s well worth it and the bonus is it’s free to enter once your on the island. There’s some really interesting exhibits in here and a really cool Statue of Liberty wall that you can add your pictures too!

You definitely will not forget you saw this on your visit to the Statue of Liberty. This is the full-scale copper replica of the face of Statue of Liberty, made using the same technique as the original. Its located inside the Museum.....not far from the information center. An important info: Please try to visit the theatre at the museum too for a 10min film, that's the icing on the cake for me......well worth your few minutes before stepping out of the museum.

Quick interactive museum. It has a photo op with the face of the statue and a torch that was replaced. We wanted 15 minutes for our picture to come up on the being the statue of liberty wall and never did see it.

Used to think the Statue of Liberty is just another structure, but was awed by the rich history it encompasses. Turns out the original colour is copper bronze, but the oxidation gave it the greenish hue. Super cool place to explore the origins of the statue.

You'll need an hour or more in the museum on Liberty Island and another hour to walk around the island itself. That's if you're not going into the pedestal. The museum is very interactive with many models to view of the various stages of the statue. Park rangers are on site to answer questions and discuss the history. There is also a junior ranger program here so if you're bringing kids make sure to do that and get their junior ranger badges.

The Statue of Liberty Museum is a great companion institution to the Statue of Liberty itself. Here one can learn about the inspiration, construction, and legacy of this great monument. There is a three segment film about the Statue of Liberty narrated by respected broadcast journalist Diane Sawyer, as well as historical exhibits and interactive displays. All of these are highly interesting, but my favorite highlight is seeing the original landmark's torch that was replaced in 1984 due to irreparable damage up close here at the museum.

  • 5/5 Jake L. 1 year ago on Google
A surprisingly detailed and explanatory museum! The history and process behind the statue are covered in great detail, and we ended up spending over an hour here. There's also a 3-part film to watch, although you'll end up sitting on the floor and having to change room every ~5 minutes to see the whole thing!

  • 4/5 Anthony O. 1 year ago on Google
Included in the ticket price to visit the statue you can enjoy this museum that presents the history of the statue. You can have a look at one of the torches used for the statue not the original one! (I see some mistaking for the original one.) Some of the information is a bit redundant, if not good museum definitely worth checking out when on the island.

A museum located in the park. It is a great experience to learn the history behind the Statue of Liberty. Managed to watch the movie describing the process behind the creation of the monument which was amazing. A definite must for us to appreciate the Liberty to be more than meets the eye.
