A gem of a place that may not be so obvious from outside but the reviews speak the truth. A vegetarian friendly Korean restaurant. Fast service, hot fresh food and amazingly tasty. Going back for sure. I wish they had some beer etc. to help with spicy food.

SGD is well-known in the community; it has several locations across Illinois and specializes on Korean cuisine. The environment is calm and elegant. The decor is simple, with dark accents such as ebony wood trim on the walls and dark furnishings. The server offered complementary small side dishes to accompany the entrée I had ordered. It's homemade and fresh, which can't be beat. I started with the Korean style seafood pancake, which features simple ingredients such as shrimp, squids, and scallions. The batter has a wonderful outline crust and a lovely crunchy texture, but it’s far too oily. Later, I had their beef bulgogi, which was presented in a hot skillet plate. The thin slices of sirloin are well seasoned and sweet. The service is consistent from beginning to end. The personnel is friendly and accommodating, making the entire the experience pleasurable.

There are only a few vegetarian options but the silken tofu, which they're known for is so delicious. I have been here twice and every time I go I get the soondubu jjigae. So yum.

This review has been long overdue. This is my go to place for some yummy tofu and affordable! Especially during lunch hour. Service is quick and everyone is friendly. Definitely a must try! Also just FYI they are not open on Tuesdays.

Really good tasting food with multiple options available for everyone. Free appetizers are best treats you can add to your entree.

Found this place on google while our original destination was closed, and it is beyond our expectations!! The food is really good, even the side dishes are flavorful. And this is my first time trying tofu soup with ramen, and it’s awesome! My husband had rice, and the rice was chewy and tasty. Everyone in our group was satisfied and full. Will definitely come back!!

Yo! Real deal here 🇰🇷 Like literally, you’re in Seoul all of a sudden you know. They get everything right. Trust me, I lived in Asia for almost 9 years and these people get it. Not only they get it, this is the real deal South Korean place. They drop a bunch of yummy appetizers worth the exquisite kimchi, some pickle pieces here and there and a nice snacking offer. We had a super quick lunch and they delivered it in record time. Super well mannered staff and efficient, very respectful and kind. It was pretty cool… and I don’t want to wait too long for my next visit with more time so I can try more stuff.

We ordered a variety of Korean foods including SoonDooBoo jjigae, Galbee(Ribs) and Dongahs(pork). They all were delicious 😋. We've received a very good service as well. The price was moderately reasonable.

This restaurant is amazing. The food is so delicious and the service is great too. We dined in for lunch. We were seated right away and our food came out very fast which was nice. My favorite dishes are the beef bibimbap and Soondubu Jjigae (spicy soft tofu soup). I like that you can select the spiciness level of the soup. You’re also served a sample platter before your main dishes arrive. I cannot rave enough about this place. You will not be disappointed.

I came here for the first time. Very clean. The service is also good. Things are not bad either. Spicy seafood soup is delicious. Their pancakes are absolutely 100% recommended. The dishes are great. Except for the spicy cabbage, which is a little strict and not enough time, everything else is perfect.

Got the beef hot stone bibimbap, but it was missing a crucial ingredient. Where was my friend egg? :( It's my favorite part of bibimbap. The meal was good 4/5. I do want to say, the cucumber side is the best one I've had in the US. They actually use Korean cucumbers here!

The food was really hot and really good. The fried dumplings were good, my daughter loved them. The pork bulgogi was delicious, i really loved it with great flavor. Piping hot plates, so be careful. The beef bulgogi wasn't as good as the chicken one. Soup was good, the bigger udon noodles were good, tofu absorbed the flavor of the broth really well. The appetizers weren't that bad. I liked the cucumbers and the thicker noodles along with the corn appetizers also.

We came here with a few friends so we tired almost everything on the menu. Everything was delicious! Can't wait to go back. Sorry food was too good for pictures but promise when we go back il take some pictures! Definitely, definitely go try this place out. You won't be disappointed!

I've been here a few times and every time is quite pleasant. The food is always good and the plentiful side dishes is really the main reason I chose to eat inside. The atmosphere is also super great, feels very cozy. You can't go wrong here, though it does get quite busy in the evenings (for obvious reasons).

Overall, the food was great, the distance between each table were also appropriate. The sides here were awesome! Steamed dumpling probably the best I have ever had in Chicago. However, the tofu in jjigae was not as silky as I had In Korea. The noodles in cold noodles were sticking altogether. The soup of the cold noodles were also not something could be rated for 5 stars. It's an okay restaurant to hangout with friends, but not a resultant that you will want to drive for more than 15 mins to dine in.

I don't think we've ever experienced such a delicious and efficient KBBQ restaurant! It's not tabletop BBQ but they do a good job on the bulgogi and short ribs. Banchan is in large portions and definitely my favorite ones (fish cakes and cucumber). They refill the banchan at lightning speed! The Kalbi portions were generous and so was the bibimbop. We inhaled the food and right as we finished they dropped off the check without me having to ask for it (I don't consider this rude, I enjoy the efficiency). I typically only go to table top KBBQ places but this SGD DUBU is making me rethink my entire strategy.
