Love this pier as it's a great, laid back place to take in the sights, people/ seal watch, and just breathe the ocean air. It's walkable from all of the local attractions but not too crowded.

Enjoyed sunny weekend in Newport Beach. Spent several days fishing on Balboa pier. Pier was clean. Ruby's restaurant at end of pier is open. Boardwalk between Balboa pier and Newport pier. Easy to walk to both piers or ride a bike. Will be returning soon.

A great place to walk, to feel positive vibes. I recommend being here in the morning when it is quiet and peaceful.

The pier is pretty awesome. We enjoyed the beach and walked out on the pier to go to Ruby’s Diner. It seems to be ideal for fishing, lots of folks fishing today.

One of the less crowded coastal piers on weekdays. Perhaps due to the fact that it’s in a residential area, far along the peninsula. Other piers may be good for tourists, tho this one is more the local’s pier, notwithstanding the guests of the few hotels, motels and bed and breakfast inns of the immediate area. The parking is ok for weekdays tho may be packed on summer weekends! I’d plan accordingly! It’s evident while looking along here, that this is a very popular fishing pier. I saw others strolling their minds off into another world, as I too began to drift off course and stay awhile! The views looking out in all directions captivated my spirit! To walk over rolling waves of the open ocean gave me the strength to rise above the little things in life that seemed so insignificant at this point. I noticed the Ruby’s restaurant’s still here, and am suddenly reminded of another female name, with whom I shared a plate of fries smothered in ketchup, as we sat towards the end and watched the sunset. Ahh the good memories here seem to last forever!

Very nice place, it is perfect to be with the family, children, friends, it is wonderful to enjoy this beach. Just one observation, avoid going on weekends ,or arrive very early, it is really hard to find parking near the beach .

Beautiful beach and crashing waves give an awesome experience for fishing the pier. Ruby's restaurant had great fish and chips for a decent price. Would be 5 stars if parking wasn't so expensive... Almost $40 for the day.

Such a cool place to visit. It was a bit cold when we went. I'd suggest you dress in layers if it isn't hot. Soft sand, clean beach. It even has a playground on it. Kids loved that. Would go again.

Balboa Pier was built in 1905 in anticipation of the arrival of the Pacific Red Car Line (1906) and of course tourists from Los Angeles. Dine with stunning ocean view at Ruby's Diner on the pier. But choose weekdays for Ruby's, it's very crowded on weekends.

A nice place to sit and relax, not too many people as the weather was a bit cool but it was great to take in the wind and waves.

Amazing spot. Well worth the drive past the tourist pier. Take the time to walk around and over to the Balboa Ferry. Close to the Ferris Wheel.

The Balboa Pier is a famous landmark in Newport Beach, California. Very nice beach by the pier, family friendly and filled with fun! It's one of two piers in the city, the other being the Newport Pier. The Balboa Pier is known for its scenic views of the coastline, and it's a popular spot for fishing, strolling, and enjoying the ocean breeze. At the base of the pier, you'll find restaurants, shops, and the Balboa Fun Zone, an amusement area with games and activities. It's a great place to experience the laid-back, beachside atmosphere of Newport Beach. Parking is extremely challenging! Best to do Uber/Lyft if visiting!

What can I say about Balboa Pier? I just love it! There’s still a Ruby’s there (is it the last one?) which is nice. It’s great for fishing and people watching! This time we saw a sea lion! It was a great day!

Balboa pier in Newport Beach is one of my go to places for fishing adventures the bites are slow on the pier since November I've had better luck surf fishing under the pier, the jetty is also better and less crowded there's a say "early bird gets the fish or is it gets the worm" 🤔 no biggy I use fishing lures anyway lol also no fishing license required on the piers any were else it's required a few blocks down from balboa there's the Newport beach pier also I recommend you get out and try your luck even if it just for a walk about there's some good restaurants within walking distance of the piers as well. "FISH ON"

Like Newport pier, Balboa pier is a vintage wooden structure but with a structural concrete deck. It hosts a Ruby's at the end - one of the few surviving Ruby's pier end diners. Parking is plentiful and reasonable compared to local venues, and permits can be purchased daily or hourly. Therecare restrooms at the start of the pier.

Wonderful pier to visit both in day and night time. The roar of the sea was very amazing. People are fishing along the side of the jetty. Must take some warm clothes at evening.

This place is in a very unique and nice location 👍 But • My mom got a raw burger • my order was wrong • The overall atmosphere was okay, the girl in front looked bored. Overall the food was good once made correctly. and it was a unique experience.
