I had an extremely terrible experience at this gym. On 3/24/22 a little past 12:30 PM I went to use one of the machines (Functional Trainer), which has two cable pulleys on the left and right, and a pull up bar in the middle. As I went to use the pull up bar, a guy using the left cable pulley started getting extremely aggressive, using bullying/intimidation tactics. I refused to back down, bringing the 40 lb dumbbell right below the pull up bar to stand on (I’m only 5 ft 5 in). Still agitated, the guy body slammed me, knocking both the weight and myself to the ground. Thankfully someone intervened on my behalf. I immediately went to the front desk to report the incident and the Operations Manager, Christopher F. said he would speak to the gym member who assaulted me. Later that night I called to follow up with Christopher F., and he had the nerve to blame the incident on me, claiming I should’ve asked permission to use the Functional Trainer. (The gym member was only using the left cable pulley) He refused to take any disciplinary action against the gym member, claiming that it was a “simple misunderstanding”. The following day I called up LA Fitness corporate and they told me a District Manager would call me back. Not hearing back for a few days, I went to my home club in Lake Success and spoke to Operations Manager Daisy V. about the incident. At first she told me she would contact Christopher F., but I wanted a higher up. She told me a District Manager would follow up with me. Another week went by and I heard nothing. I spoke to her again on Monday 4/11/22, and gave a vague answer, claiming the District Manager would contact me that week. When I left the gym I contacted corporate again asking to speak to the District Manager. For the third week in a row I was told he was in meetings and wasn’t available. Later that night, I was contacted by the District Manager Todd. Todd viewed the security cameras and told me he’d contact me again. Wednesday 4/13/22 Todd left a message basically reiterating what Christopher F. said and that the member who physically assaulted me was let off the hook with just a warning. There should be a ZERO tolerance policy to physical assault of any kind in this gym. It has been made clear to me that LA Fitness condones physical assault of its members.

Wow, this place has really gone downhill since I visited a few years ago. Worn out seats, broken machines, weights and wipes strewn everywhere. There was an employee putting weights back up, but he didn’t bother putting them in the right place (put 20lbs in the 30lbs slot). Also, there is a water fountain that’s continuously running, which no employee has bothered to turn off the water connection for. What’s even more embarrassing is that LA fitness considers this a “Signature” location. For the people that come here regularly: don’t accept this kind of service and complain to management and corporate.

Horrible !!! A lot of machines are broken for months, we complain about it and they don’t do nothing ! There were days when 10 treadmills were broken, several people complained and nothing was done for weeks. In these images there are machines that have been broken for more than 6 months!

I’ve been going to this gym for the last 4 months, and the overall experience is good, but it doesn’t matter how early you go, the dumbbells are never where they should, and I’m not talking you finding them on a different weight number, I mean they’ll be all around the gym, even if you are one of the first ones to get there. Feels like the staff never takes the time to organize it at the end of the day/week, and everybody knows that so they we don’t take the time either

Gym community there is super friendly and the place has good vibes. Machines are frequently broken and take long time to fix Currently 1 out of the only 2 chest fly machine has been out for over a month. Busiest days are Mondays or when there are Zumba classes. When there is a spillage or cleanup employees takes hours to even notice. Good selection on dumbbells. Some workers may be presented as not caring and rude. Operations manager super nice and friendly and was able to cancel my membership (as I will be moving) frustration free and gave me clear detail.

We didn’t even last 30 minutes at this location. The smell alone was enough to send us packing. The equipment was either broken or being used (I get it that’s the point of it) but no weights were put away so we couldn’t even do alternative workouts…. Just a total waste of time. Weight machines are so crowded together and plates were EVERYWHERE! How does anyone get a workout done in a reasonable amount of time here? The picture pretty much sums up the entire gym… it’s crazy how many 5 stars this place has. I gave it 2 because it is, as advertised, a gym. 👎🏼

I joined the Garden City Park location. The staff is very nice. I go early in the morning and always have a machine to use. For the most part, it is clean. The people who use the gym need to clean up after themselves. I've seen plastic water bottles left around and paper towels just scattered. It's not nice. The only other thing is, I don't know how long their work orders take to get a machine fixed. One machine has been out of order for about two weeks.

They take a long time to fix machines. The treadmill’s and the stair masters have been out of service for months. They also should update their tread mills. It is clean for the most part. However, sometimes the showers aren’t the cleanest, but that’s due to the people using it. Sometimes it is hard to get machines because it could be super packed but it depends on what time you go. I also can never find weights because no one puts them back. I can’t wait to try the whirl pool and the pool out. Overall, it’s a pretty good gym. I just wish the maintenance was better. I also hate their hours. They close so early some days. Luckily, there is another LA that is 24 hours.

Machines are constantly broken. List: 1. 3/4 fly machines have cables broken (it’s been 3 weeks) 2. Incline chest press by the benches (its been 2.5 to 3 months) prior to this time being broken, it took 7 months to fix it. 3. 2/3 stair masters always out of service (2 weeks) 4. Attachments are beyond worn and mismatched (in pure honesty probably a year now) This is just as of recent. Now rather than complaining I just bring my own attachments, hooks and make do with what isn’t broken and in need of service. Your club is very busy and with that type of membership, you should really focus on making sure that the machines aren’t out of service for months at a time. This is constructive criticism. I do enjoy this LA fitness location, but you guys post the Covid lockdown still haven’t gotten your equipment serviced in a timely fashion. I understand that service takes time but when we’re talking 1-3 months, that’s just pure laziness or negligence.

Gym etiquette does not exist here. Texting is more important than training. The gym floor is littered with weights left by members. Water bottles and used paper towels add to the clutter as do backpacks and gym bags. While a certain amount of noise is common, slamming 315 lbs of weights doing dead lifts crreates a deafening noise; it’s also bad form. Staff does nothing to alleviate any of this. LA Fitness is only concerned with making more money by adding more members.

With so many people coming to this location you would think they would do their best to maintain it. It’s supposed to be one of their “signature” locations but this place keeps getting worse and worse. The sauna it’s been broken for over a month, there’s always multiple machines broken at once for long periods of time, weights all over the place, paper towels constantly running out. It only takes good management who cares to make this gym a good location.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. This location is so poorly managed, it's absurd. Compared to the other locations, this one is below the bottom of the barrel. Not only is it filthy and grimy, but half of the machines do not work. Machines have been out of order for WEEKS on end with no signs of being repaired in sight. Being that machines are commonly broken, there should be better management/enforcement of the 20 minute use while people are waiting rule. For example, only 2 stairmaster machines are working (out of like 5 of them), and a young girl must have been on one of the only working ones for AT LEAST 45 minutes while 3 people were waiting. While talking to the others who were waiting, we all found it absolutely ridiculous that no one was enforcing the rule, which was clearly posted on the walls right near the machines, and eventually decided to leave and go to a different location. It is an unfortunate experience, but I am glad that I was able to connect with others who I am able to relate because of our shared views of how horrible this location is. Do yourself a favor and go to either the Garden City location or the New Hyde Park location. Either of those are MUCH better options and are run much better. Honestly, they should knock this location down and put something else there.

Not a huge fan. Only go to it because i committed to a personal training membership thru October. 😡 Every other treadmill is broken, On two floors. U cant get any of the nautilus machines after 6 pm because groups of dudes are standing around using them. Cardio and yoga Classes are incredibly full. And good luck finding free weights. They need a make over

I've been to two of their other locations. This was the least appealing. The scent alone was such a turnoff and there was litter everywhere. Could've been an off day but I haven't been back.

The literal worst gym I've ever been to. Out of the 10+ gyms I've been a member at in the past 20 years, this is by far the worst. Dirty, improper ventilation and poor quality equipment that isn't maintained. I guess it's passable if you want just cardio machines and a pool, but if you want to lift weights your better off going to Home Depot and lifting the bags of cement. There were (not an exaggeration) 6 non-matching dumbbells that were actually in the dumbbell rack at 4:00 on a Monday, and going when they first open on the weekend, it isn't much better. No one re-racks their weights or wipes down their machines. I really don't understand how anyone works out here. I read some bad reviews but thought it would be OK. It was 100x worse than I expected.

Pros: enough parking, relatively clean, good space for stretching, biking, yoga. Cons: the hot tub has been inoperative for 4+ months, general manager or front desk rep (Chris F.) claims that there's always something wrong with it and they're waiting on an update from corporate... for 4 months? I'd be more patient IF I wasn't told a different reason every time I asked, below are the excuses so far: - added too much chlorine - heater broken - getting serviced - electrical issue

The gym itself is alright. There are a lot of choices of machines and everyone minds their own business. The staff is usually nice, but they tried to scam us when I signed up for it and we almost lost 20 bucks. Very spacious and overall a decent gym

The staff is nice except The Saturday Zumba instructor Wendy is absurd and unprofessional. All things came out from her mouth is horrible. That makes her biased, not empathetic. She lacks of understanding and social responsiveness in the multicultural community. She doesn’t know and understand American-Asian names and cultures. She could get lawsuits. It’s just everyone is ignoring it. She doesn’t cherish and embrace. Wendy needs social responsive learning. Lots of it. Ignorant and egocentric. Dated and not aware of social expects of the members of the gym…. The class is not all about her- the coach alone. She’s lucky that it’s Saturday morning and right time. Otherwise, she only gets a few of her similar. It’s about the class and people there joining the exercise. She accused people with silly Halloween candies. With two other bullies in class YongXi Kang and an elder w lady, she’s bad. Wish another coach there for better

Eric and Ron are great leaders. Eric helped me with a deal I couldn’t refuse that works with my budget. Ron helps me train with different trainers and I’ve been a member since August. I’m already seeing results in muscle definition and my stamina is already built up from where it used to be. I used to be a member at Planet Fitness where I dreaded going there because it was always crowded and people were fighting over cardio equipment. At LA in GCP, I’m always able to do what I need to do without having to wait 20+ minutes for equipment or machines. This is where you need to workout!

All members must get a temp check and wear masks at all times All cardio is 6ft apart all classes have a 6ft zone to limit space. Lockers also 6ft apart We are cleaning all equipment with EPA recommended Tergocide and have bottles all over the club When your ready to come back we will be here

Everyone (staff and members) is super friendly at this location. Yoga classes are awesome! I’ve taken classes at studios around me and none of them offer the same level of practice the teachers offer at LA Fitness. The classes are open level so beginners can take as slow as they want and experienced practitioners can take as deep as they want as well.

Absolutely love this gym, it is the best gym I have ever been to! The staff is extremely kind and friendly. They are quick to respond and super helpful. All the equipment is clean and so are the locker rooms. Such a comfortable environment to workout. Definitely recommend.

I have been coming to the Garden City location for about two years. During this time, I have benefited from Ron's expertise and his continuous efforts in providing an overall healthy lifestyle to his clients. Ron is a continual teacher; always passing along his knowledge and putting into action the benefits of his fitness program and communications. There are a host of terrific trainers within the LA Fitness organization, but Ron at the Garden City location is most certainly one of the best.

By far the best experience I’ve had at an LA fitness . The staff is always friendly and seem to know all the members by first name . Ron Shaw makes the experience one of a kind . Overall it’s a great gym and i would recommend anybody to come here.

  • 2/5 Jeffrey B. 1 year ago on Google
Nice people, but an absolutely filthy facility. (Men’s) locker room is in a perpetual state of neglect that is not explained by anything other than a DGAD managerial attitude. We are talking about health code common sense abuses that are systemic. While the exercise areas are normally reasonably well attended, there is a functional disconnect when it comes to the changing and shower facilities.

  • 4/5 Prasad K. 10 months ago on Google
One of the smaller clubs. Machines are fewer and waiting times longer on the 2nd floor. As with other LA clubs, broken down machines take a long time to fix. Parking is limited and customers are circling around at peak times to find a parking space. Customers with fake Handicapped tags grab the few that are closest to the entrance. As with other clubs, trainers are very expensive . Group classes are pretty full. Best less crowded times are very early morning or at supper time.

  • 3/5 Linda B. 9 months ago on Google
New manager very pleasant but machine maintenance is awful. TVs never fixed either. Obviously they need more machine technicians as when they’re finally there they can’t even fix all that are broken. So unacceptable.

  • 1/5 East W. 9 months ago on Google
The water and the pool is extremely dirty. You got dead skin and body oil around the edge of the pool. The pool water is literally cloudy and someone had stepped on feces in the pool and was walking around the pool like that. When you swim you can literally see the feces stuck at the bottom of the pool. The swim pool in LA fitness is literally a health hazard.

Ron is the best GM. He is always professional, quick to respond, happy to help & address concerns/questions, composed during stressful situations, also a trainer who really pushes their clients - this location is lucky to have him.
