Visited yesterday and surprised to hear the beautiful sound it makes in next to no wind, strangely moving. Loved it so much we went back today in much stronger wind and wow it's incredible, highly recommend a visit.

My partner wanted to go there. I was sceptical about visiting some "scaffolding poles nailed together" as one "art critic" described it a few years ago. However, I'm glad I went. It really does sing with the wind. The sound is haunting but not scary. There were a few families there and the youngsters seemed to enjoy climbing all over it as well as listening to it. The views from the site are stunning as well. I'll definitely be visiting again.

What a day to pick, clear skies, sunny, windy (to say the least). An interesting visit. The conditions were such that this tree sang and rang. If you get a chance, GO. Beautiful landscape.

Great views over burnley, worsthorne and over the long causeway and into todmorden valley Great backdrop for the singing ringing tree which was in full song when I visited as the wind was blowing hard. Lovely spot to stop and have a picnic with the family or friends

Well we’ve been there yesterday as sour friends found this place so we decided to visit it . When we arrived it was very windy but I couldn’t hear the β€œtree” singing to be honest. It’s a nice place for a walk something that we really enjoyed it . There are a car park around and also there is one close to this structure ( we didn’t know so we parked 15 minutes away from there. It’s a nice place for dogs as well but just be careful with the roads as cars go really fast.

Was a great view. Went up on a super windy day. Can hear the singing ringing tree. May be would have been better on a less windy day. Path needs some new gravel in spots to bring it above the water line.

Even I if went on a rather cloudy day. It was easy to appreciate the location and made the noise it makes even more fitting. Little 5-10 mins on a gravel path from small car park

A structure constructed by huge amounts of metallic pipes with various distances and directions, allowing to pass through air resulting vibration finally gives natural song. Situated in a beautiful high ground moor land area always blown by winds. You should visit one day. 45 minutes drive from Manchester.

A small car park with a short 10 minute walk to the sculpture. A robust creative design but disappointed that it wasn't singing or ringing, maybe it needs to be very windy. Great views from summit.

The sculpture itself isn't very big compared to the photos but the view is really nice, there is a free car park you can park at and just follow the trail to the point

Great place to go for a walk. Great views from the singing ringing tree. There is a small car park, but no facities for food or a drink. Maybe difficult for wheel chairs to get along the stone pathway to the singing ringing tree, which is hilly. Around the area are more paths for walking.

As a whole, we enjoyed walking around the area. The post code didn’t bring us to the site, but it’s an easy fix. The β€˜singing’ was a bit ominous, which my teenagers enjoyed.

Extremely easy to get to from the car park. Fantastic view, BTW make sure the wind is blowing, so you can really hear the singing tree 🎢

An amazing place with a good view of the sunsets. Only thing is that EVERYONE needs to be more respectful of the litter there and the bins need emptying. If anyone knows who to speak to to arrange this I thinks everyone will benifit.

A beautiful unique piece of art over looking Burnley. You can see this from the city centre. Was not to busy when I went. There is parking a hundred meters or so from the tree. There is also a table and some seating. The views are amazing and the tree really works and produces a tune. Sad to see the lack of care given to this site no investment since they built it so the seating is falling apart slowly. I hope it gets fixed ASAP would not cost to much.

You'd think regardless of the wind direction, this thing should be making ringing noise. But that's not the case. I was there on quite a windy day but this structure wasn't making any noises. Nevertheless, it's still pretty cool. Short hike and beautiful scenery.

a good location to visit. The tree was giving sound ,which was fortunate for us. The car will drive pretty close to the tree, and there is also a decent parking area nearby. Great views when driving too

Loved visiting this sculpture. We visited on the way home from a trip and it was a lovely stop to make. The sound the tree made was really interesting and the views across Burnley was beautiful. It was a clear day so we could see pretty far. There were benches to sit down and the car park was really near by. There was another walking path near by so this would be a good spot to park, visit the tree and then go for a walk.

Short walk from the car park but still wear sensible shoes. The tree makes an eerie sound, it's really different and worth the stop off if you're nearby. The views across the rest of the countryside are fantastic. On a clear day you can see for miles and miles.

Lovely Visit ..Amazing Structure in a Stunning Setting ..got some nice Pics even in a grey day ..not sure it sang today but it's well worth a visit to see the formation

Singing Ringing tree is quiet impressive in terms where it stands and the sounds it can make. It is very original and cool structure. The views from around are beautiful and breath taking. It is mostly windy over there and hence the purpose of the tree being there. I would recommend visit on a nice sunny day in summer rather a rainy one in winter as it can be freezing. Plus views are much better on a sunny day.

Absolutely stunning sculpture, surrounded by breathtaking scenery. The wind was blowing enough for us to hear the tree singing beautifully. There is a small carpark and a short walk to the tree. There are no facilities here. The only downside to our visit were the bins on the walk down to the tree. The bins were overflowing and rubbish was strewn all over the ground. Such an eyesore next to something so beautiful.

Great walk to the Singing Ringing tree from Towneley Hall. Approx 5 mile circular route. The Singing Ringing Tree is great. It's a shame it's been graffitied on though. Well worth a visit. There's layby parking closer to the tree if you don't want a long walk.

A modern sculpture on a hillside. Google stares a 5 minute walk from the carpark but it's a bit more on a rough path.

I decided to take a short trip today. I wanted to go somewhere within a specific distance that wouldn't cost me anything, and then I stumbled upon the Singing Tree. After arriving at the parking lot, there was a trail leading to the tree. I must say I was expecting more, as the tree did not really make much of a sound, but I'm not going to let that get in the way of my rating. It was quite windy and you should do your research about when would be best to visit this tree.

A lovely intriguing sculpture overlooking some beautiful countryside. There is wind but can only just hear a faint tubular sound as the wind blows through the pipes.

Lovely place even but watch out for the chavs that use this road as a a racetrack. Other than that it’s a great place for a picnic.

  • 4/5 Haris K. 3 years ago on Google
It sings but I doubt it rings. There is ample parking out on the road and it is a short walk of five minutes to the tree. There isn't much to do other than see the tree. It really does buzz in windy conditions. A tourist attraction of half an hour maybe. I would definetly combine it with something else for a day trip. The views are quite nice though

Because I went with my very dear friend. Good memories

  • 5/5 Tom C. 3 years ago on Google
Impressive views considering how close to Burnley it is! Best to catch it on a windy day but it's just as beautiful on a calm one. The sculpture isn't far from the car park and is accessible via a short gravel path. There are a few walks in the area so I'd advise looking into other routes once you've seen the installation.

THE SINGING RINGING TREE IS A WIND POWERED SOUND SCULPTURE RESEMBLING A TREE SET IN THE LANDSCAPE OF THE PENNINE MOUNTAIN RANGE OVERLOOKING BURNLEY, IN LANCASHIRE. COMPLETED IN 2006, IT IS PART OF THE SERIES OF FOUR SCULPTURES WITHIN THE PANOPTICONS ARTS AND REGENERATION PROJECT CREATED BY THE EAST LANCASHIRE ENVIRONMENTAL ARTS NETWORK (ELEAN). THE PROJECT WAS SET UP TO ERECT A SERIES OF 21ST-CENTURY LANDMARKS, OR PANOPTICONS (STRUCTURES PROVIDING A COMPREHENSIVE VIEW), ACROSS EAST LANCASHIRE AS SYMBOLS OF THE RENAISSANCE OF THE AREA. DESIGNED BY ARCHITECTS MIKE TONKIN AND ANNA LIU OF TONKIN LIU, THE SINGING RINGING TREE IS A 3 METRE TALL CONSTRUCTION COMPRISING PIPES OF GALVANISED STEEL WHICH HARNESS THE ENERGY OF THE WIND TO PRODUCE A SLIGHTLY DISCORDANT AND PENETRATING CHORAL SOUND COVERING A RANGE OF SEVERAL OCTAVES. SOME OF THE PIPES ARE PRIMARILY STRUCTURAL AND AESTHETIC ELEMENTS, WHILE OTHERS HAVE BEEN CUT ACROSS THEIR WIDTH ENABLING THE SOUND. THE HARMONIC AND SINGING QUALITIES OF THE TREE WERE PRODUCED BY TUNING THE PIPES ACCORDING TO THEIR LENGTH BY ADDING HOLES TO THE UNDERSIDE OF EACH.

What a great asset the Singing Ringing Tree is to Burnley. So many varied walks to get there or you can just park nearby and take a short walk to reach it. It pays to go when there is a breeze/wind about. It was singing beautifully today and could be heard as we walked away down the hill towards Cliviger. Although the weather was grey and dull it didn't disappoint.
