Beautiful walk on a sunny afternoon with my wife and kids. Not busy at all and we had a nice quiet walk where we could take our time and enjoy the views by the river and the kids even managed to put their feet in the freezing water for abit of fun! Be warned that one side of the river bank is a sheer drop with no fence and people with children or dogs would be best to avoid as we mistakenly went that side when we first got there. We started at Station Road and walked all the way down to the Cafe and came back up. Nice little gathering of old military vehicle enthusiasts and was fun for the children to take in the sights and sounds.

Amazing park to walk and have on your doorstep. I love the water falls and the paths and carved wooden fairy figures. Just so magical. It's free to walk in no ticket is needed.

Beautiful and easy walk on the viaduct. A short detour of the side of the viaduct down to the river (healey dell), bring you hidden gem of trees, waterfalls, ponds and streams. Many places for picnics and shallow points to play with the water. There is also a lovely tea house at the start of the walk. Parking is free and there should be lots of parking space.

The main access road is closed due to a land slip. If you take the local access Rd its very steep, narrow, with only a few passing spaces. Better to park on Station Rd. Tea room has been renovated and offers a good menu in lovely surroundings. Underfoot can be wet so good shoes are recommended.

Great place to visit with some amazing scenery. Our son loved climbing through the trees and over the little bridges. Tearoom very pretty and had a good choice of food. They do warn to take cash if you can as the wifi signal isn’t great, but we had no problems paying by card. Toilets inside to the left. There’s also a sign that says bomb shelter between the tearoom and the outside seating area, but we didn’t get to see this unfortunately! Would definitely visit again.

Lovely nature reserve located on the edge of Rochdale. The main walk in the reserve follows an old railway line and over a viaduct, but you can also walk in the surrounding woods and river valley below the viaduct. It can be muddy in the winter, so wear a good pair of walking boots or wellies. I parked on the south end of Dell Road. You'll not be able to drive the full length of Dell Road since it's closed off at the moment, but you can still walk to Healey Dell. Good place to spend at least an hour. It's popular with walkers, runners, cyclists and dog walkers. There's tea rooms close by.

I absolutely adore the atmosphere at Harley del Nature Reserve. Just a short drive away from the bustling city center, it transports you to a whole new world. The best part is, it's free to visit, making it a fantastic hiking spot for nature enthusiasts.

Really lovely Tea Room after a walk round Healydell or can be accessed from the main road to save the walk. Excellent coffees . We had Gingerbread latte and some food. Food was really nice. Will be coming back for some cake ! Lovley touches with the heaters and decor.

Beautiful walk, great for the kids to explore. Waterfalls and rockery are stunning. Stumbled across the fairies Chapel too which intrigued the children. We can't wait to go back and explore further.

Great place. Fabulous walks, atmospheric, old imposing viaduct, raging waterfalls, places of legend, and scattered remnants of industry going back to 1665.

Very nice place for a hike or just a peaceful walk I visited in the summer and there was wildlife birds etc everywhere. There is a few WW2 bunkers in the woods as well as the area was used in WW2. I recently went back and found some cool waterfalls and some old water mill ruins this place is a lot bigger then I thought and well worth a walk.

Healey Dell Nature Reserve is a beautiful and picturesque wildlife sanctuary located in Rochdale, Lancashire, England. The River Spodden has carved its way through the woodlands over thousands of years, creating stunning scenery and spectacular waterfalls that once powered ancient corn, wool, and cotton mills. The reserve is also rich in industrial archaeology, with a disused 1800s railway line that now serves as a nature trail with magnificent views from a 100ft high viaduct. Key features of the Dell include the Broadley Wood Mill, Fairies Chapel, Lodges and Waterways, Railways and Viaduct, Stone Rubbing. Visitors can enjoy free admission, free parking, and a nature trail at this attraction. As this winter time now, the snowy cold beauty is something out of the world. Recommended to wear proper waterproof cloths and snow boots for better grip.

We were in the area and googled were to visit. A brilliant place for a wander with the kids , the waterfalls are amazing (as we've had plenty of rain lately) .some tricky steps if you're unsteady on your feet and small children with the steep drops at the waterfalls. Also, a nice little eatery at the car park . Plenty of history here.

So long since I last visited this wooded valley it was like I’d never been there. The sat nav direction was good but there’s another way via Station Road up from Rochdale- on the Burnley road. We parked near the cafe and walked past a few houses then saw the way down to the river and waterfalls. The sunshine of the lovely day didn’t quite penetrate the woods initially but the drama of the waterfalls after considerable rain we’d had, was worth our visit. Lots of paths in different directions but we found the old railway line, walked the good path towards Whitworth then came back the same way before diverting to the left and by some lodges. These old railway lines are great for cyclists, horse riders and walkers. Sadly the cafe had run out of food- just drinks on offer but after the festive season that’s understandable. Will definitely return to the dell. Interesting to read about the industry that the valley supported. And we noticed the lack of litter!!!

Lovely afternoon spent here walking to the waterfall and back. Then we enjoyed a delicious lunch in the tearooms (built on top of an air raid shelter!) with a fantastic service from Ella and all the staff there, even taking their time to give us a brief history of the area. Will definitely be back soon! Absolutely worth a visit!

A hidden beauty. Lovely waterfalls, over seven nature trails, disused railway line, munitions factory and much more great for kids and family, an ideal day out and great for dog walking too. What's more you can finish your day at the beautiful Edwardian tea room.

Lovely little place for a walk. Will go back in summer . It was a little wet and windy on this visit, but still enjoyable. The waterfall is quite magical.
