Recently joined and was really nervous.I’m not athletic by any stretch of the imagination. What I found was an awesome set of people. From Glyn the coach to every student , all have been and continue to be really supportive. So if you are thinking about it and have some trepidation, my only advise would be to just walk through the doors. You will not regret it.

I’ve just finished my first month at SBG Bury. I’m 32, been an avid gym goer all my life, but injured my back badly and since then struggled with any form of exercise. I’ve never followed MMA, BJJ or considered myself someone who would try this kind of thing. From my initial enquiry it was abundantly clear that Glyn is extremely experienced and he made feel at ease about my injury, training and learning. The last 4 weeks have been fantastic for me, from a training, learning and weight loss perspective but also from a sense of community perspective too, there are no egos, everybody wants to learn and help you learn too. As a teacher Glyn focuses on the fundamental’s. I have taken learnings from BJJ into my everyday life. Could not recommended this enough.

Took my first ever beginners class last night. Wow, baptism of fire but really good fun. I've never done anything like "combat" sports before and really pleased I went along. I was very nervous but the guys were incredibly accommodating and explain all the moves well. Felt it the next morning. Highly recommend.

Highly recommend to anyone looking to get into BJJ/MMA, lose weight or find a new hobby. As someone who struggled with anxiety, I couldn’t of joined a better group of people, who are friendly, welcoming and great with beginners. Glyn Powditch is an outstanding coach and is always there for support and advice. Training footage is reviewed and analysed everyday and progress is monitored each step of the way.

Glyn is a fantastic coach, with many years of experience, which is very evident with the way he is able to communicate concepts to all levels , from white to black belt. The other coaches are great as well, and there is a very welcoming and friendly environment. Would HIGHLY recommend to anyone wanting to learn how to fight, or defend themselves , or even just to get in shape.

Glyn is very welcoming and creates a friendly environment to which each student can feel safe and know that they are in good hands. With great attention to detail structured throughout each of his sessions, its a certain fact that everyone walks away with more knowledge that they came in with. Personally, I highly recommend attending SBG Bury under coach Glyn Powditch or any of his designated head coaches as you will have fun and learn a lot! I've trained for 10+ years and he is undeniably one of the top coaches in the UK.

I have been training here for a month now. SBG bury is a small but very welcoming community. There are no egos, and everybody has been helpful and friendly. Head professor, Glyn is extremely knowledgeable, cerebral and passionate, and this translates to very interesting teaching, and BJJ. It's tough here, but great fun.

Started training at SBG Bury one month ago as a complete beginner, training mainly with Glyn, and every class has been brilliant. Glyn and the other coaches are highly knowledgeable and articulate techniques in a way that’s easy to understand. The classes are structured in a way that not only allows you to learn HOW to perform a technique, but also WHY it is done that way, which has massively helped me understand the fundamentals of Jiu Jitsu. The rest of the group are also very welcoming & friendly and happy to give advice to help you improve. The club runs plenty of classes 7 days a week to fit around any busy schedule and there are also children’s classes which I definitely plan on bringing mine too in future!

I recently started training at SBG in Ramsbottom, and I have to say that it has been an amazing experience so far. The instructors are knowledgeable and always try and help you improve if you're struggling. They also try and give you a deeper understanding of the particular position or move that you're learning rather than just teaching a sequence of movements that look good for your Instagram stories but would be difficult to implement if the conditions were slightly altered. The other students, who are a great group will always try and offer advise or assistance if it's asked for. I feel like I have already learned so much in just a couple of months of training. I would recommend SBG in Ramsbottom to anyone who wants to train BJJ.

Great gym. Lots of flexibility between 6am 12pm and 6pm sessions every week day. I started just under 2 months ago as a complete beginner and have loved it everyone is very friendly and knowledgeable in the sport. There is a lot of focus on breathing which most gyms skip over however it is very important and helps massively.

I started training at SBG Bury 2 months ago as a complete beginner. The group have been extremely welcoming, accommodating and friendly from my very first class. Glyn and the other coaches provide explanations in a clear and concise way which I’ve found particularly useful as a beginner. They go above and beyond to help you incrementally improve with each class. I’m always looking forward to my next class and I’m excited to continue my journey at SBG Bury. I can’t recommend it enough!

I was super impressed by Glyn’s ability to articulate his teachings in a clear and concise manner, which is a testament in itself to his knowledge and dedication of the craft. BJJ moves can be quite complex initially for anyone’s brain to navigate - so this was super beneficial. Glyn and the rest of SBG Bury were also super welcoming (especially Zeeshan) and I can’t wait to return in the near future!

I started training ju jitsu at the start of summer at SBG Bury. Glyn and all the coaches were so welcoming and everyone else training there is friendly. The quality of coaching is very high but also easy to understand. I could say so much good about this club but the most important thing I believe I can say is come down and give it a go. I’m sure you’ll soon see the physical and more importantly to me the mental benefits that I have received from training.

This is a great gym. There is a friendly atmosphere led by the coaches and continued by the regulars. The coach to person ratio is better than could be expected, with ample opportunity to ask any questions. I have been coached mainly by Glyn, and he is always eager to go the extra mile help you improve - something not always the case with coaches in general. A great place to learn and, of course, let off some steam!
