Great afternoon tea ( with Prosecco! ) served by friendly staff and taking account of requests about being vegetarian. Nice coffee afterwards too.

We visited Sykeside for Sunday lunch and were impressed by the surroundings, the service, the menu and the cost. We were greeted warmly and shown to a seat in the lounge bar. Our drinks were brought to the table and our order was taken. We were then shown to our table in the restaurant. Lovely food, well prepared and beautifully presented. We had three courses and then a special mention about the coffee. It was served in a pot and there was enough for at least two cups each. The cost was most agreeable especially when prices go up in other places on a regular basis.

Went to a birthday party here. It's a lovely place oldy worldly, it doesn't hold to many people I think 40 for a sit down meal but there are 2 rooms one is a conservatory which looks very nice. The meal was lovely and hot plenty of veg to go with it and the puddings were loverly. Plenty of parking and easy access into the building, there are a few steps into the building but they are wide so not to bad to climb. It's a lovely place nice views. Well worth a visit.

Bit dated inside which suits the older generation but the scrumptious meals, value for money and service is spot on.

A very well maintained and spotlessly clean hotel. The family that run it are friendly, professional and go that extra mile to ensure that your stay is perfect. We stayed in Room 3 which had a large and comfortable 4 poster bed with crisp white bed linen. The en-suite was modern and had a spa bath, but still retained it’a period charms. The breakfast was delicious and beautifully presented. We would definitely recommend the hotel and will stay here again if we’re in the area.

Came today for afternoon tea with my best friend. She booked and said it was very easy. The tea itself was superb. Excellent choice of sweet and savoury including hot options, wontons, hot mini quiche and soup to start. Tea was plentiful and refilled regularly. Service was attentive and friendly. A member of staff took me to a comfortable place to change my newborns nappy. We dined indoors as it is v.warm today but they have an orangery attached too. I wouldn't hesitate to return with friends or bring my family, dad, mil etc for a meal. I would also bring hubby for a date night. I'd like to bring my friend who's coeliac so enquired about gluten free and staff advised no problem with notice. It's a hidden gem and very reasonably priced! I hope they do seasonal events like Xmas afternoon tea as we'd love that too 😊

Every occasion visited has been first class. From our parents Golden Wedding, funerals and even an excellent 'takeaway afternoon tea' when my sister celebtated her 75th birthday but was terminally ill. Beautiful location. Brilliant staff. Great food! πŸ’—

We stayed for one night as we were attending a wedding. Overall it was a wonderful stay, however there are a few things that would improve the room. Firstly, it's quite dark - there's no main light and as it is a large room the dressing table was therefore quite shaded despite the wall light above it. The bathroom was beautifully big and bright however the water pressure was incredibly low and it was almost impossible to take a simple shower, my wife couldn't even attempt to wash her hair. The room had four easy chairs but no table, we would have appreciated a little side table or similar to sit our coffee on while relaxing. Finally the bed - it was a four poster and once in bed the mattress was supremely comfortable, like sleeping on a cloud BUT the bed was so high we both struggled to get onto it! Seriously it was so high my wife had to 'launch' herself onto it and I had to grab her and pull her the rest of the way! Getting out of bed meant sitting as close to the edge as possible and letting yourself fall the six inches to the floor. We're only 5'6" but reasonably fit, older less agile people would really struggle. Breakfast was amazing! Really tasty especially the sausages. We ate in the conservatory which was lovely. All in all a nice stay with just a couple of niggles. The bed was actually hilarious it was that high lol.

We have used Sykside for a number of family occasions and find this venue perfect. The bar area, dining room and conservatory are very comfortable. We have had had both set meals and warm buffet and the food has always been good. The cost of food is reasonable, but bar prices are a bit expensive though. Would recommend, and use again.

Exceptionally good cream tea here on 5th February for an 80th birthday celebration. The staff were wonderful (shout out for Lydia!) and nothing was too much trouble for them. The food was fabulous - someone commented that it was better than the photos on the website - with beautifully soft bread with delicious fillings and an abundance of desserts, all of them fresh and carefully chosen to be part of the tea. Well done, chef! Tea, coffee in abundance. The best cream tea I've ever had. Highly recommended.

A truly pleasant and relaxing experience set within a charming period country house. I found the staff to be very friendly and accommodating by providing a vegetarian alternative to the cream tea sandwiches.

Great Spacious roomed as well as being a well furnished and well maintained hotel for all types of stay! If you haven’t stayed here before give it a try! Family run to an outstanding standard! I used to live nearby and now I always choose Sykeside when I return to the area!

😠 Place stunk, steep rickety stairs, room dirty, fixtures not fixed properly, worst place I've ever stayed.
