Having recently got bees at our primary school we attended the introduction to beekeeping course a few days ago and I am still absolutely buzzing. The course was totally amazing and full of facts about these fabulous creatures. Kath and Simon are brilliant and explain everything so well. I came home with millions of things to tell the kids and spending hours looking through different hives totally gave me the confidence to look after our hive properly. I loved the 'think like a bee' approach to beekeeping and it really does help in predicting the next steps for the colony. Reading a hive like a book showed that you can work out the health of the animals and how to keep them healthy. I loved the whole day so much and could've have easily spent a week with these fascinating creatures and indeed Kath and Simon! What a privilege. Thanks guys

UNBEELIEVABLY GREAT EXPERIENCE Standby for Bee puns... Just visited the Bee Centre, Samlesbury Hall for their Bee Experience as a birthday gift. Why would this not BEE a 5 star rating. From start to finish friendly, helpful and informative experience. Lots to do and see, even if you only have a passing interest in Bees. Up close and personal in full protection is an amazing experience. A really pleasant and very worthwhile experience, which I highly recommend to EVERYONE, so much so I have booked on to the one day beekeeping course next April. Seeing the queen and bees "hatching" was a unique unforgettable experience in itself. Finished off with some honey tasting was divine. And forget what you think you know about our fluffy friends. Also: Lots to do for spectators and in the grounds of Samlesbury Hall which is both beautiful and lots to see/do before and after. Another of Lancashire's little gems and really worth the small fee for this experience but pop along to visit anyway. Top class.

Getting up close and personal to some extraordinary black bees in the heart of Lancashire was a birthday treat from my family. What a treat it was too. Our hosts for the morning were the brilliant Simon and Kath, whose passion for their bee families and hives is infectious. They are clearly motivated to spend time engaging and working with their visitors to promote sustainable pollination. We kicked off with a brief and fun introduction on what to expect, and were kitted out with our trendy bee keeper outfits and wellies. The hives are just a short walk up the lane, where we spent a good while taking the hive apart and watching these extraordinary insects going about their daily buzzyness whilst seemingly mooching around the hive - they work pretty hard it turns out, in all sorts of jobs during their lifetime, from nursing through to disposing of their dead buddies. We even witnessed one little baby bee popping out of it’s birthing pod. We left our little friends to their work, popped the lid back on and headed back for the honey tasting experience. Simon gave us more information about honey made from different nectar sources and ethical production. A lovely way to relax in the Lancashire sunshine. I found the whole experience humbling, and probably one of the best things I’ve done in a long while. Go do it guys, and see for yourself what an amazing contribution bees make to our communities and environment. You won’t be disappointed. Oh, and the gin distillery next door is pretty good too! I’ll be back!

Went to visit after finding this online and adopting a bee for my granddaughters birthday. Now separated from Samlesbury Hall, so the shop is on its own, very small but some nice gifts. Very pleasant guy serving but couldn't tell me how we could visit the bee other than the Bee Experience which you book and costs £50-60. There are 5 in our group so we aren't booking 5 at that price for us to visit a Bee! The bees were also at a separate site. Perhaps more info needed on website and shop would be helpful.

I bought my husband a bee experience for his birthday and we went along yesterday. He had a great time and loved learning about the honey bees. The tasting session was fab too, came home with a bag full of goodies! Thanks so much Simon & Kath, what an amazing set up you have x

This was a Christmas gift from our daughter. I had some reservations about a close encounter with the bees but I need not have worried, they were amazing and very calm. Both Kath and Simon were very knowledged about the bees and it was a pleasure to bee in their company. Highly recommend a bee day experience.

We had a really lovely time at the bee center, Kath and Simon were really welcoming as soon as we arrived. Throughout the experience they remembered our names which gave it a really personal touch. I learnt so much about the bees and it was great to see all the different hives, Queen bees and ones in the making. We saw a swarm on our way up too, and learnt about why the bees do that. They take pictures for you at no extra cost which was really lovely. It was great to know that they keep the bees for the sake of the bees and not for their honey, they only collect honey when it is in excess and do it more for sustainability and pollination. After our tour of the bees we got to sit down and try some of the different honeys and we bought a few of the ones we like. We’ll be using some in baking and making some nice drinks. They even do bee keeping courses and sell hive start up and can perform home checks and help out if you’re having a trouble. We would definitely recommend this experience for anyone who loves bees or just wants to know a bit more about them. A perfect day out!

The Bee Experience was a birthday gift fro my husband... one of the best gifts ever!! From the minute I walked in they made me feel so welcome and at ease. After some formalities we were suited and booted and taken a short walk to the hives. The bee keeper was just lovely and so knowledgeable and gave us so much fascinating information about her bees. We had the opportunity to hold a frame and watch the bees close up, I didn't feel at all rushed and was encouraged to ask questions. We were then taken back and a delightful guy told us lots about honey production and the opportunity to taste proper honey. The couple who run this lovely place are just so nice and so knowledgeable about their wonderful bees.

Belated Christmas present for my bee-mad 7 year old… but the whole family wanted to do it and we are glad we did! Brilliant afternoon despite the British weather. We felt very reassured by the safety levels in terms of overalls, etc. Lots of hands-on experience with the bees and Kathy’s knowledge was phenomenal. Bees are my new favourite animal! After we had a session with Simon tasting different types of honey, which was also really informative and kept us all listening throughout. Friendly and informal atmosphere. Would definitely recommended!

Had a brilliant morning at the Bee Centre today with Simon and Kath, who showed our group the Recycling Lives hive and the many Bees happily living in there. Such an informative and very interesting subject, but unfortunately I didn’t like honey, but loved the honey chocolate 😁 This is an experience not to miss and I recommend it to all ages to go and learn about how important it is to us to have Bees in the world. 🐝❤️

What an amazing wonderfully informative experience we all had..! Myself, husband and his 83 year old sister were enthralled by the world of the honey bee from seeing the queen and all her workers, drones, guards etc to the witnessing of a baby bee emerging - a real delight.

On the 24th April 2021I attended a beginners course at the Bee Centre. We were all met with a smile, cup of tea/coffee and biscuits in a relaxed atmosphere. This course was extremely informative, well presented and included classwork in the morning and hands on Bee experience at the Apiary in the afternoon. All attendees thoroughly enjoyed the experience and the majority have gone on to become Bee keepers. I would highly recommend the this course to anyone who is simply interested in Bee's, thinking of becoming a Bee keeper or even just as a refresher for practising Bee keepers.

Took my mum for a bee experience for Mother's Day and had a wonderful time! The experience was so informative and we learned a lot, Kath was a fountain of knowledge. The bees were on their best behaviour and we even got to see a baby emerging from it's little pod. Simon was hilarious, and very patient with us even though we wanted to try every single honey they had. Both Simon and Kath answered all of my (many) questions, and I even got to play with Meg the dog as an added bonus. 10/10, will come again!

What a perfect way to spend a couple of hours, dressing up as a beekeeper and embarking on a hands-on bee safari, offering a fascinating insight into the world of the honey bee, complete with a honey tasting session and shop to purchase a large range of bee produce including honey, candles and bee equipment.

Had an amazing time at The Bee Centre. Kath & Simon CLEARLY love their bees dearly and care so much about what they do that it is infectious. I learned so much about bees and might have been inspired enough to do some research on how I could start keeping my own bees! I highly, highly recommend this experience, it was such fun. And the bees are lovely, docile girls - don't bee worried!

I bought The Bee Experience for my partner's birthday, and it was a really lovely time for the both of us! The staff were really helpful and accomodating, and Simon was a right character! Getting up close with the hives and seeing inside them was so fascinating - especially when we were lucky enough to see a number of newly hatching bees pushing their way out into the world! The honey talk and honey tasting session afterwards was great too - delicious and interesting. If you are worried about being stung, then don't bee! They will give you all the protective equipment, and you are with a beekeeper at all times!

Most enjoyable learning about the process of beekeeping. It was a present for my birthday. What a wealth of information especially about what is sold on supermarket shelves! Would advise anyone with an interest in the subject to visit the centre you will not be disappointed.

An absolute treasure cove. Kath and her Son are so informative and friendly. We came away knowing a lot more than we went in! Also with Honey(of course) Chocolate, Lip Balms and Rapeseed Oils. I will be returning again soon...🐝🍯1
