Really good place to start off the hiking season. Not to long and not too strenuous. Great views , not only from the top , but also all the way up. The car park is small , only room for about 25 cars. But we went on a sunny warm Saturday and had no problem parking on the roadside just outside the car park.

We did a night hike! Wasnโ€™t crowded at all, and no insect bites, plus no sun block was needed ๐Ÿ˜Š

Nice little walk. I bet there is a view for miles on a clear day. Iโ€™ll have to try again with this one again soon.

Scenic place to hike. Free parking lot - around 12 cars could fit it. Ideally somewhere to lose yourself on a Sunday!

Very Substantial build!! Didn't realise how big this thing is ๐Ÿ˜ฎ reminds me of a little castle. Wasn't open when I visited, most definitely worth going back when its open!! Great views over Ramsbottom and surrounding area! Highly recommended. Apparently, when the flag is flying at the top, it means its open to visitors. Always worth remembering ๐Ÿ˜Š

Love walking around, family friendly but not suitable for pushchairs. Nice walking through the fields beyond the tower.

Easy walking up for able bodied Older people and children. The walk up to the base of the hill is cobbled but then mud/stone path. You can see Manchester 25 miles away and probably another 25 miles behind to the hills. Theirs lots of foot paths to walking once your up and easy walking. Once your done theirs plenty of pubs, restaurants, takeaways, supermarkets and antique shops in Ramsbottom ๐Ÿ™„ so what you waiting for go and explore you won't regret it.

It's almost a two mile walk from the Shoulder of Mutton to the tower and back. Breath taking views over the north west, if its clear you can see Chill Factor to the south, the Peak District.

Great location. Closed most of the time but has open days occasionally but this is difficult to plan as no prior warning is given when this is open. Hill is a big one but the road is well established and relatively easy, the road is access only and not for cars, approach is only on foot. - warning to those - allow 30- 40 minutes to climb at a leisurely pace. Can be done in 15-20 - the bench at the top will help catch your breath. Multiple routes up and down the hill. Over all great walk and fabulous views

Favourite walk. Weather beautiful and views amazing. In far distance you can spot skyscrapers of Manchester. A few years ago it was only 2 of them and now....

Peel tower itself its not impressive for me and mostly times closed . Its Located on Holcombe Hill. Its free. The views from where is located are amazing so definitely worth to visit and if you lucky enough maybe the tower will be open to. The access is short walking path up the hill from the parking on the bottom road. Walking up to tower will take approximately 20 min normal speed. There is also Millennium Bench just on the way to/ from tower, which was designed after the Millennium celebrations on Holcombe Hill as a thank you to locals.

A lovely walk up Holcombe Hill as ever. If youโ€™re lucky you may have enough room to park in the car park at the bottom of the hill. A quite steep ascent so bare that in mind if you struggle walking or are under five years of age. Great views over Bury and Manchester. The monument is always one Iโ€™ve enjoyed- standing stoically in all weathers... reminding us of Buryโ€™s famous former prime minister...
