Great place to walk, and beautiful scenery. I also like the fact that there is a free car park, toilets and a bar/restaurant nearby.

Beautiful walk, and we got lucky and the weather was beautiful. A popular place but at the same time we weren't overcrowded with people which was nice.

Very popular so parking is difficult and impossible at weekends. Could not cycle around the lake despite what Google maps says. Path to the top is very uneven and rutted. Views from the walk are spectacular though.

Ogden Reservoir is a stunning body of water located in the Upper Calder Valley, just a short drive from the town of Rochdale in Greater Manchester. The reservoir was constructed in the late 19th century and is one of several reservoirs in the area that were built to supply drinking water to the local population. The reservoir is set in a beautiful natural landscape, surrounded by rolling hills and wooded areas. It is a popular spot for locals and visitors alike to enjoy nature walks, picnics, and fishing. The reservoir is well-stocked with a variety of fish, including brown trout, rainbow trout, and perch, making it a popular destination for fishing enthusiasts. The fishing season runs from March to October, and fishing permits can be obtained from the local angling association. There are several walking trails that wind their way around the reservoir, providing stunning views of the surrounding landscape at every turn. The trails vary in length and difficulty, making it a suitable destination for walkers of all ages and abilities. Ogden Reservoir is also home to a diverse range of wildlife, including birds, mammals, and reptiles. It is not uncommon to spot birds of prey soaring overhead or to catch a glimpse of a deer or fox among the trees. Overall, Ogden Reservoir is a tranquil and picturesque destination that is perfect for anyone seeking to escape the hustle and bustle of urban life. Whether you come for a leisurely walk or to try your hand at fishing, you are sure to leave feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.
