Whitewater rafting with these guys was epic! The whole team is super organized, professional, entertaining and really friendly. A special shout-out to Sam, you are the best, mate! Sam was super friendly and adds a lot of fun to the trip. The trip itself was so much fun. The 7m waterfall was so thrilling and the rest of the river was just as much fun. You won’t be disappointed whether you are confident doing this sort of things or even if you don’t know swimming. Definitely will visit again.

This was my second white water rafting experience. Loved the sense of humour during the briefing, good balance of information about safety protocols and cultural significance of the river and designing ‘pauses’ to prepare us for the various ‘drops’. My excellent raft guide Caruzo took us skilfully through the biggest drop - all remained on board - and I particularly enjoyed the opportunity of a swim further along the river! Not so glamorous being fished out of the water but what great fun! This was better than my first rafting experience in the Canadian Rockies! Highly recommended.

Did slegding with Kaitiaki Adventures, was a lot of fun even though it was much harder than it looked. Would recommend only doing sledging if you have intermediate swimming capabilities. Can swim constantly for a good 45mins.

My 16yr old daughter and nephew really wanted to go rafting and my first reaction was NO! it's not safe. I knew nothing about rafting and worried for their safety. After some convincing I finally said yes, on the condition that I go with them. The guides were skilled, professional and knew the river extremely well. It put my mind at ease knowing we were in great hands. The team makes you feel like family and creates a unique and memorable experience. They love what they are doing and are genuinely excited to share their love of rafting and nature. The weather was beautiful, the river warm and the scenery is stunning. I'm so glad we got to experience rafting and am already planning my next visit. I cannot say enough good things about Kaitiaki Adventures and would recommend them in a heartbeat !! Huge thank you to the team, especially our amazing guides. How meke? Tu meke!

Kaitiaki Adventure's Mt Tarawera Guided Walk, once in a life time experience. 360 degree showcasing this unique volcanic landscape, surrounding lake views, and in the distant up to Whakatane with Whale Island and White Island. We are lucky to get the once every few year snow coating. It does give it a bit more color texture. Guides are very helpful and patient. I am a bit scared of ridges and height and did get pretty panic when descending the steep downhill to the bottom of craters. Lucky got my hubby to hold and lead the way down and the girl guide always behind me encouraging and made sure I was okay. Will definitely recommend this tour.

This is hands down the best activity/ tour I have done whilst on holidays in New Zealand. From the moment you step through the front doors; you are met with incredible service and knowledge on all things rafting. Your safety and comfort are at the forefront, whilst still maintaining a fun and playful atmosphere. As a first time rafter my nerves were instantly taken away. I plan on returning and doing this time and time again. Thanks again Jess, Curtis and the team.

This was the most amazing experience the tour guides where awesome, strongly recommend. We had so much fun and our guide drax made it the best time playing lots of fun games on the water and bringing down much nerves. The safety was incredible. the information that guides gave us about Kaitiakitanga and the sacred guardianship of the land.

We took a ride early January. Booked day before. All went smooth with checking and on time. Got all the safety instructions. Then dressed the gear, traveled to the river location via a shuttle provided. Unloaded the boat, and allocated to a guide for each boat. We got Dan the Awesome. He is super cool and funny. He made the journey so cool and energetic with information, jokes and everything. Thanks to him it's not just rafting, it's full of fun. He managed to guide the boat without flip it through waterfalls. Ensure the crew safety. We all loved him and the journey we took. Fair price and good coordination. Recommended.

Amazing experience. A grade 5 river experience with a great rafting guide, Stevie. We rode the rapids and waterfalls and were made to feel safe and reassured by the safety briefings and expertise of Stevie. The journey was all too brief as we wanted it to last longer, we were having so much fun. Great photo package too.

It was a great experience, totally worth it. The staff were so friendly, we missed our time and they rescheduled for us the next day. Our tour guide Ben was very professional and knew his stuff. I was scared of falling in the river because I was not confident in the open water, but Ben really guided me and showed me what to do in such case. I really appreciate this trip and the kindness of the staff there.

LIFE’S MOST EXHILARATING EXPERIENCE!!! Stevie- the beautiful man who began this company, made us feel so safe and assured during our briefing and was always looking out for our safety to ensure the best experience ever!! Evidently, he was so skilled; the entire journey was so exciting and informative! I felt like we were on a adventurous survival mission hahaha!!! Not only Stevie but the entire crew were so hospitable and fun to be with - especially Kyle with his expectational comedy😂😂. Could never be more grateful for such beautiful people who allowed us a safe cultural, adventurous and exhilarating experience!!! Lots of love guys!!!

Went Rafting with the crew and was so much fun. Hudson, Jackie and Hemi were so relaxed but extremely professional. Going over the waterfall was scary but they made it completely safe even when going overboard. Could not recommend them enough. True legends! Thanks for the experience.

An absolute must do!!! Rafting down the amazing, scenic river with an awesome team in the raft is the most amazing thing you could do. Our awesome tour guide helped us throughout our adventure (plus giving us courage for the monster drop...), while learning us about the incredible history of the river. This will be an unforgettable experience for you and your family/friends.

Took my 60yo mum sledging along with the work crew and we had an amazing time thanks to our 3 guides. All of the guides were cheerful and happy, super easy to get along with and really looked after us on the river. Not only that everyone at base was very welcoming upon arrival. If you're not sure how to sledge no sweat, neither did we, beforehand they gave us the run down on how to use the sledges and went over some technique with us, resulting in a safe, extremely fun and enjoyable experience on the river. So what are you waiting for, pull your wallets out and go have some fun with the kaitiaki crew!

Had a fantastic time on the Mt Tarawera hike with our guide Ben. The drive on the mountain road is epic. The mountain is astonishing. Ben was a great guide, full of interesting stories, history, geology and wildlife information and was able to handle all our nerdy questions. The peak was in cloud and we had a short rain shower during the hike, which for me made it more mystical and beautiful. Highly recommend.

The Tarawera Crater Hike was spectacular. There were some adrenalin filled moments climbing up a rock face to the summit, then down a huge scree slope into the crater. The incredible views begin only a few minutes after you step out of the 4WD van. Harry is the perfect guide, brimming with enthusiasm, knowledge & respect for this amazing national treasure.

Highly recommended! Did both the sledging and rafting and had a ball. Guides were just amazing and made sure we had an awesome experience.

We did the full day combo as a family of 4 (walk around Mt Tarawera and the rafting). The whole day was awesome - although we were a bit nervous about the rafting we ended up loving it and didnt want it to end! Guides gave a lot of information about the area as well as Maōri legends and history. Would definitely recommend to all: New Zealanders and international visitors
