Joined 3 weeks ago, was not told about renovations. Current available equipment is a handful of weight machines and a couple ellipticals - you'll get 10x more at a planet fitness for $10/month. Basically everything is outdated, wasn't worth $170/month when the gym floor was open, much less now that nothing is accessible. They tried to talk me into not cancelling by saying I would be "guaranteed the $170/month price for a year" but I legit just signed a contract saying that so not sure at all how that was supposed to be a "selling point". Sales guy says the price in January will be over $220/month. Idk who is going to pay that for this place. Best of luck to y'all - glad to have gotten out of there.

This place is a 12 month contract that you can’t get out of once you sign, it’s overpriced, and lacks value. The tennis courts outside have cracks in the courts, pine needles, and debris on them all the time. For whatever reason they don’t clean them. You pay $115 a month and they still charge you over $40 an hour if you ever want to use the indoor tennis courts too. The gym is ONLY open till 9 on weekdays and 7 pm on weekends. You can pay for other gyms for 10% of the price that are open 24/7. The indoor pool there was “being cleaned” for months and was just unavailable. I can’t warn you enough to avoid this place at all costs. The palatine park district gyms are free to residents and have nearly everything midtown offers The only good thing I have to say about the Midtown in Palatine is that my time there is OVER!!!

If they weren’t so desperate I would have considered it. Multiple text messages, phone calls and voicemails. Not any great deals either. If you’re seeking me so heavily, why would a joining fee be a thing? Maybe a month free and waiving the fee but at this point it’s just annoying to keep seeing midtown pop up.

This place is definitely more of a social club for wealthy, elderly folks than an actual gym. I have not really met other members who were in their 20s and 30s. There is nothing special about Midtown, unless someone is really into playing tennis or pickle ball. If you're going to spend close to $200, you're a lot better off joining Crossfit, or even another gym like Lifetime, if you're a younger person seeking that social aspect. You're also locked into a 12-month contract your first year and the hours are very limited (the gym closes at 9pm on weekdays and 7pm on the weekends). One positive thing is that the facility is very clean. The trainers are very nice too, my favorites were Katya, Bridgette and Lenny.

Was interested in checking them out / joining as I only live 2 blocks away but they don't have any pricing info on their website. Major oversight on their behalf considering everything can be researched online in 2024. They lost a potential client that couldn't compare pricing to other places so sticking with one of the other local gyms. Thank goodness for Google / Yelp / Reddit.

Today, I came to Midtown club(Palatine) based on Cita's plan, and there were eight people playing pickleball on the court next to us(2 group). Unfortunately, they were making a lot of noise(personals and playing music) and didn't care that my friend and I were playing tennis on the side court. (In the other court, my club mate was playing with his rival ).Even when we told them to make less noise, they didn't pay attention and this continued until the end of our game.(7:30~9:00) Unfortunately, the management The club was not present in its office to solve this problem. And because of this, I did not have enough concentration for the match and I could not show a good match. I am sorry that the Midtown club’s management does not care and do not pay attention to the rules of the games… I object to this issue and want it to be investigated and followed up. Regards Farshad

This is an awesome place to go to for a club. Kidtown workers are very nice, (Stephanie, Sam, and some others I forgot their name) So you should totally get a membership here. The prices are totally worth it! I’ve been here since September 2022 and it’s really awesome and I go there every Monday because I go to tennis there and it’s really amazing! Also the indoor and outdoor pools, sauna, tennis courts, swimming lessons, Kidtown, and the café bar is really good. So I would 100% recommend this location! Sincerely, Nathaniel V (Nate) Edit: Update: This place is the same! New look which of course I’m adapting to it. But it’s really cool! Front office is still closed it it will look so good after! Bye!

Very unprofessional management. The worst experience I have ever had at a health club, in my entire life. The facility is beautiful. The group fitness instructors are pretty good. The people at the front desk, the personal trainers, and most of the members are very nice. But the management is beyond awful. I thought I could overlook terrible management, but their toxicity really permeates through the whole experience, and ruins what would otherwise be a fantastic club.

I’ve been going to this gym since I recently moved to the area and I have been so happy to all this my new home gym. Always clean, weights always racked, and my morning visits always go uninterrupted and great! Been to many Midtown Athletic Club locations and this has to be my favorite.

Called on 12.23 at 5.30pm to talk about my membership and the front desk representative said it’s Christmas Eve and he has no time to answer any questions and he just simply hang up on me! This is worst ever experience with athletic club! That’s why I will go to a different club for better service!

Due to covid many services are not available and many restrictions put in place we asked to be reimbursed because the dues are expensive ($300+) so they cancelled our membership. After more than 15 years going there this is the worst management we have seen, it is not longer the local friendly sports club.

Been a member here for 7 years. Lots of positives: best tennis pros in town, friendly staff all the way around, excellent pool and aquatics program for kids. Food and smoothies in cafe are always tasty. Members are friendly and you’ll make lots of new friends. Kidtown offers a lot. The down side is they are increasingly becoming more rigid in policies with bringing guests, using the family locker room and always driving more profit through tennis fee increases. They need to find other sources of revenue besides just the tennis players. Club needs more member events which are free and included in the monthly membership-Pool parties, tennis socials etc. Outdoor Pool, Spin Studio, tennis courts and fitness studio in excellent shape. Indoor pool, locker rooms, cafe, pro shop and machine and weight floor is in need of a major renovation. Mold on original tiles in walkway to indoor pool. Midtown corporate seems to put Palatine lower on the priority list to MT Chicago and Bannockburn.

Great outdoor pools, cafe food is excellent, staff is super friendly, they have everything from basketball/pickleball/racquetball to a full on cycle studio/yoga/pilates studios to all the weights and cardio you could need. Only complaint is that the place is a bit dated and definitely needs some refurbishing. They have said they are going to be doing a massive renovation and make the facility state of the art but have not given anyone a firm date so who knows? In the meantime, this club has everything and more than we could possibly need. Update - the review above is from 3 years ago. This club is dated, no improvements whatsoever, they pump money in to other clubs but not this location, it’s Average Joe’s over here but they charge a fortune. Some staff are super friendly, some not so much. It’s a coin flip if the pool cafe is open on a hot summer day and sometimes the indoor cafe is closed too. Men’s locker room is grimy. They charge the same as LifeTime LZ which is insanely nice so I voted with my feet… ✌🏼

This gym is small and the staff is intimidating, I never been to la fitness so I just wanted to try it out for a week before i sign up , and at least 10 sales men in suits We’re present like it was goldmen sacks bank lobby and they were demanding i sign up even when I had a guest pass , I felt like I was applying for a cash loan to open a football stadium in Dubai , besides that the gym is okay but planet fitness is better less stress less intimidating.

I can't say enough about the positive energy, effective classes, cleanliness, friendliness, and caring helpful ATTITUDE this club adds to my day so I can be my best and pass it along to others. I've only been a member since August 2021 and I'm new to the area, but I have developed some great relationships. Also, I can't say enough great things about the staff. Neil, Tom, Zeus,, and notably Spencer, a staff trainer who understands and is a student of bodykinetics.

As a bigger woman, I was at first afraid of what all the in-shape people would say about me coming to work out at Midtown. What I found instead was an incredibly warm and loving community, new friends, and the best personal trainer you could ever ask for! I couldn't be happier with my membership and time at Midtown. Oh, and ask for Fidel if you want a personal trainer! He is the BEST!

Awesome place to exercise while the kids are entertained. Well-managed kids play area - I rarely if ever see my kids in front of the tv, they're always colouring or on the playset or playing with other kids. Great gym, lots of classes which I should take more advantage of. Nice safe and clean pools with lifeguards aplenty. 4th of July festivities were lots of fun. Great community, everyone is so nice to my kids.

Overall this place is one of the nicest clubs ive ever been to. What sets them apart is the staff. I had a tour with Aaron and it was overall a great experience. Aaron was kind, welcoming, and knowledgeable. He worked through all of my questions and concerns. He was also very clear when he talked which helped me understand all of the important information about the club. Theres also a young man at the front desk who is always very helpful, inviting and kind. I signed up and haven’t looked back since. Great club with an exceptional staff.

Aside from the awesome amenities, the staff really is what makes this place great. The manager Aaron has such a personal approach and seems to know everyone that is part of this club. Not that I was on the fence but Aaron definitely was the swinging factor in me joining. Great gym and I can’t wait until the renovations are done!

MidTown in Palatine has done an exemplary job in keeping members safe and healthy. Members are wiping down machines and staff follow up to immediately clean them again. Clients and usable machines are well spaced. It appears to me that all staff are engaged in the sanitizing process. Staff are very friendly and courteous from the moment temperatures are checked at the door until you leave. I feel very safe at MidTown and recommend it.

Midtown has been so wonderful during times like this (coronavirus, social distancing, state mandates). They are super clean and are doing the best job with all the restriction put in place (outdoor classes, spaced equipment). I never have to wait for a machine, as the facility is very large. Equipment is cleaned after every use. The classes are wonderful and are offered at all times of the day. Would recommend Midtown to everyone

We have been members for several years and have always appreciated the dedication of the staff. It is a great facility and since reopening, the focus on making sure the facilities are clean is commendable. I'd recommend for anyone looking for more than just a 'gym'.

My club activities have kept me sane during the pandemic. I only do outdoor swimming and pickleball but I have to say their cleaning and safety have been top notch. Better than a few of the doctors I've been to. Dina the manager goes out of her way to help, recently helping us solve an exercise equipment problem which is not her job. kudos to her!

So much available at this club. Tennis, basketball, fitness equipment, an outdoor area...great value. If we didn't have Midtown, my wife would have to pay membership at a tennis club, I would have to pay to play basketball somewhere, and we would have to find a third fitness facility we both like. Everything is under one roof for us here!

They host great events every week from specialty classes to wine tastings to book clubs to cooking and nutrition classes. Their tennis programs are second to none. Every coach there is fantastic. My son loves his tennis program. He loves the pools. He LOVES kidtown and the staff there. So many great camps and kids events. Highly recommend Midtown.

It’s to dirty . The cleaning guy is doing his job well , but over equipment nobody looks. It’s need more fresh air, because first thing you notice inside is the smell . Also cardio equipment is to old. The lockers are old . I would want to see electric locks. Every thing is loosing and makes a weird noise while working out . UPDATE: So about 1 week after visiting this place I discovered some marks on my back. I didn’t know what that was and I went to a doctor . She told me that it’s simple ringworms. She started to explain where people get them, and I momentarily understood where I got them. I take a shower twice a day, I change my T-shirts twice a day. I’m so neat. However this pace is so dirty that all my preventive methods didn’t work . I cleaned up equipments every time before and after use with that towels and spray . They don’t care about cleanness . HOWEVER a guy who cleans up locker room does his job in there good.

I called on 02/22/2019 to cancel my membership. On 02/21/2019, Edgar and the manager told me that if my project in Deerfield, IL didn’t work out, I could call in and cancel my membership. I told them that signing up would be an issue because I would not be able to come in on Friday, this is the day I found out whether or not I would be flying to Chicago every other week, I found out on Friday that I didn’t have to fly back. As soon as I found out, I called and cancelled. Edgar and some other guy that worked there told me two different times because I called two different times that it would be all taken care of. On Satuday, I spoke to a women at the front desk at the same location and asked her if she can tell me whether or not my account was cancelled. She told me it was not cancelled and that it was still active with no notes about be calling in on Friday to cancel. She then proceeded with telling me that I had 5 business days to cancel and according to the contract it says 3 in order for me to get a FULL refund. The times I contacted the LA Fitness are as follows: 02/22/2019 2:09 PM CST – Edgar said he would take care of it and cancel my account. 2:46 PM CST – Whoever picked up the phone at that time said he has my info and will send me a cancellation notice that the previous guys didn’t sent. 02/23/2019 3:01PM PST – Young lady at the front desk confirmed membership is still active and no notes of me calling in to cancel it 02/25/2019 9:15 AM PST – Spoke with the Operation Manager Mark and he said he would take care of it and because it was 3 days, not 3 business days as stated in the contract he would have to push this issue to his manager to resolve, but will cancel it and send me a cancellation email It is 12:40 PM PST – I have yet received an email stating that I called and cancelled the membership. Just to play it safe I am also sending this cancellation letter to let you know that I am cancelling this membership. Please refund the amount charged to my credit card.

I’ve been a member for three years and a regular user. I only stick with it because it is so close to my house. The gym smells like body order EVEN WHEN IT FIRST OPENS AT 5 AM, the parking is just atrociously crowded and the locker rooms are tiny, as is the gym itself. There aren’t a ton of options in this area, which is why I suspect so many people continue to use it. They are pushy at sign up with personal training and they allow vendors, like chiropractors, to set up a booth near the entrance and hawk their services to those entering and leaving. It’s obnoxious. Stay away if you have better options.

I moved here recently knowing nobody and instantly walked into this gym and felt like I was home. Ryan helped me out immediately and explained everything very thoroughly. The trainers Abbey and Bradford also have gone out of their way to make me feel totally welcome. The staff here is exquisite! You can tell they are all here for the right reasons and just want to see their gym family succeed. The equipment is kept cleaned and very organized. The fellow gym goers also seem very respectful and friendly. All around, GREAT gym!!

Great club overall. Wish it had more than two platforms/racks, and the basketball court is occasionally taken up by random classes/events. The operating hours were also reduced back during the pandemic but have not gone back to where they were pre-COVID.

This place is absolutely fantastic and every single trainer is great. The classes leave you feeling both exhausted and strong with the mix of cardio and weight training!!

MIdtown’s Palatine facility is great!! Whether you're into weight training, cardio, fitness classes, the health spa, yoga, tennis, basketball or swimming you will love the Club. I also thoroughly enjoy the cafe. The staff and trainers are awesome. Everyone is extremely helpful and very personable!! I highly recommend the Club. You will not be disappointed.

We all know the importance of a quality product, and Midtown Athletic Club delivers just that. From the cleanliness of the facility to the politeness of the staff, Midtown gets our vote and membership.

There are a lot of pros with Midtown. Great outdoor pool for families, the renovations are great (which they’re still working on), the staff is really friendly, their GM Chase is very nice, and the facility is very clean. It’s also got a good community/family vibe which I dig. If you’re into tennis and pickleball, you have that option too along with other classes. However, the reason why I’m giving it three stars is because they have an area in the middle of the gym called “The Field” where they have classes during peak hours. They blast music and the instructor is speaking using a speaker too. It’s so obnoxious to me to the point where our family is considering switching to Lifetime (lifetime also offers 2.5hrs of childcare in LZ). It’s a shame they put that in the middle of the gym. Since it’s new, we’re hoping they tone it down a little bit. I’d prefer to listen to my own music without putting my headphones at max volume (even then I can still hear the class).

Okay new setup on the main floor, but they got rid of the beautiful basketball court to put pickleball in. Supposedly they’re making a silly half court, but with construction being behind schedule it’s won’t be there for at least 6 months. Can’t freeze membership even though the only reason I signed back up was for basketball. Training sessions on the new field is way too loud. I don’t recommend.

Moving to the area & I decided to take a tour with Aaron C. Was super blown away with the facility! From the moment I walked in I felt at home! Aaron answered all questions and was super informative. Excited to start my fitness journey here! If you are looking for a tour ask for Aaron!!!
