My grandma took my 9 month old Chow Chow to Petco in Round Lake for a bath that includes nail clipping and trimming (btw he used to have very thick coat of hair) When they were showering him they called and said that he had clumps of hair and had to cut it. My grandma picked him up and couldn't recognized him. He was completely shaved and was very scared. She was very upset! She wasn't notified that they were going to shave him all the way down to his skin. We try to touch him and he acts scared like if we are going to hurt him (It seems like he was perhaps forced down in the process ) his a really sweet pup and now his been aggressive. They told us that it would be $70-$75 for grooming and nail clipping , the bill ended up to be $97 and they didn't clip them. I have never seen something like this. This is unacceptable. It's very upsetting to see our baby so distressed. I have uploaded some pictures of before and after.

Took my Lhasha in letting them know I was dissatisfied with other Petco locations. I explained what I was looking to have done with nail trim, teeth brushed, etc. Received him back with the top of his tail cut off (I specifically asked NOT to do this). Also parts of him are uneven and are going to grow out horribly. Worst part was, he ended up getting sick and having diarrhea and a fever. I brought him into the vet (no not Vetco) and he was given 2 injections of 2 types of antibiotics. It's been 2 weeks and he is still recovering from the diarrhea and vomiting. Will not go there ever again!

The groomers did a wonderful job bathing and brushing out my German Shepherd puppy. His nails looked perfect too! Not to mention my kitties nails looked great after their trim too.

I normally don’t review places but as I received a email to leave a review and feedback I saw some recent reviews and decided to speak up. (Hopefully this is right) I feel there is a reason so many retail places are short staffed. The declining in common courtesy has become so common anymore. I have seen many dogs where the owners wait until they are matted or super messy to finally get them inti a groomer. Maybe the groomers aren’t the ones that need education , maybe the owners should educated themselves on their dogs and what the needs are before it is too late. I myself was uneducated when it came to grooming and proper care and my experiences here at Petco have been nothing but good. They have helped me with food , treats and even brush recommendations. Maybe before you go to google and make statements you should say to yourself whose fault is it the dog gets shaved ? Groomer or yourself. Think about it. If the dog doesn’t allow you to brush them how is anyone else ?

Everyone was very friendly and they loved on my puppy from the moment he got there. My pup had gotten sprayed by a skunk and they were able to help with the smell and explained to me step by step how they did the treatment.

Lena went above and beyond for my Artemis. Lena knew Artemis has allergies and took good care of him. Artemis was so happy after his visit and didn't even want to take off the neck bandana they put on him. Thank you

Love this PetCo. All the staff are very helpful and our dog trainer was super. Grooming team does a great job as well.

It is a nice smaller Petco store. I only see parakeets in bird section though. It has guinea pigs, hamsters, etc. Only freshwater fish. Wide section of Betta fish. Staffs and friendly so that's a plus. Usually they have discounts going on and in store price is sometimes even better than online, so I recommend to check it out.

Very good! Again, the round lake beach IL location has GREAT customer service so far. Very helpful as well

The two employees that helped me the other day were great. My dachshund was in pain & I didn't know what to buy but the cashier directed me to an employee that saved the day. Fast & helpful service!

Brought my Bulldog in today and was helped out by Katie, she had amazing customer service and was so very helpful. She went above and beyond to checked every food for my dogs specific allergy needs. Great experience!

Sometime this place can get a little hectic again. The prices can be a little too high. You can go to other pet shops and find it for a little bit lower. But I mean you are going to a mainstream store here but they do sell some good crickets in a 10 that are already filled with calcium and stuff I have bought I bearded dragon from them that is still living and is doing perfectly well. His name citrus. Here's a picture of them.

I always have such a great experience when I visit Petco. My dog and I feel welcomed and valued.

The cashier greeted us and was helpful. He got Britrany to help me. We just adopted senior cats, yes 2, and needed help in finding the best cat food they sell. Well, it turns out the most expensive isn't always the best. She explained what a senior cat needs and helped me make a selection. Wonderful experience

Jay at the Round Lake Beach store was fabulous! Such a positive, energetic person, very helpful, kind, efficient and went above and beyond overall, from start to finish. He’s a GREAT asset to your already great store! Thank you again! Keep shining bright like you do!

I was helped in the store by Sasha. She is extremely professional and personable. Sasha really was wonderful when helping me decide on items and also made sure that I was able to get my rewards points when checking out. Kudos to the store for hiring such an excellent employee!

love taking my kids there, great variety of products, friendly staff. That was my first impression, which has changed after I took my dog for grooming. Their staff needs to be trained. I prefer to make only good comments or not at all if they aren't good, but I just want to make dog owners aware of this. Staff needs to be trained.

We went in and from the entrance the entire team was simply amazing. As first time dog parents we had no idea. Brought my daughters new Pomeranian In and she was showed so much love. They all guided us from entering to checkout. We appreciate all of you and your help. Thank you for the amazing experience

They got new staff went in there asking for hills senior food new girl with heavy eye make up had no clue what I was taking about I go in there twice a month . She said did they don't carry that brand .. went there today other lady Katie I believe very helpful and new what I was talking about very professional and friendly

I went in for some bottles for my kitten, I called first the lady who answered the phone was nice enough to go check their stock and let me know how many they had in stock and what aisle I would find them! When I went in the next day, I think his names was Neo? Not sure he gave me great tips on how to transition from formula to solid food!! Which was very appreciated it!! Very friendly staff🙂

Usually Pet co has what I need. In stock. when i stop in. Always friendly. personable associates. I have only run into the super large bags of dog food i need being out of stock.. But , went online and had free same day delivery . so that was amazing

Very knowledgable about animals. Helped me select what type of fish and aquarium I should have as a beginner. My cat has no problems with baby girl betta so worked out very well.

Brittany the manger and grace are very rude and unprofessional. Video recorded them my whole interaction with them. Failed to do their job properly. Go take your business else where !

Love coming here for all of my pet needs ♥️ I apologize - I can never catch his name. But he has blonde hair. Always super friendly (and super cute too!) but all staff is super friendly and very knowledgeable if I ever have questions.

Big thank you to Jay for helping keep my Jack Russell Terrier “Boston” calm yesterday when he was in to get his vaccinations. Boston has a lot of panic attacks and anxiety and the kindness and compassion you should to him was incredible.
