Food was good but two of staff members were not adhering to mask requirements. One waitress had her mask below her nose as well as frequently below her mouth even when she was interacting with customers. Another staff member had a lacy mesh covering which offered no protection. There has already been a review posted about the staff member wearing this mesh mask. While the mesh mask might meet current requirements it clearly does not protect against the spread of COVID 19 as it has obvious holes in it. As an owner of a business I would hope that you would ensure that all your employees are wearing protective masks to keep your customers safe.

Waitress pointedly came up and told us "we didnt need to wear our masks" while we were waiting for our food. Her caviler attitude and that of other patrons made me nervous. There was another staff member who had a face mask that looked like it was made from bug netting. I don't know how they thought that was worth anything. The food was average, but the discomfort was high

my boyfriend ordered from here. The food was cold and way too much salt. It’s not door dashes fault bc all they did was deliver it and I live like 7 min from whistle stop... yuck.

I had the Red Rooster. It was probably one of the best breakfast skillets that I have ever had! Everyone enjoyed their meals. And the service was top notch. Our son lives in this area and the next time we visit, we will have to come back to the Whistle Stop!!

1st time there, and I got to say . Fantastic! The staff, food , and atmosphere is all perfect . My wife is a professional complainer, and she was content . I'm definitely coming back. I had the chuck wagon special; it was excellent .

The staff was friendly, food was really good. They are a popular place so it might be crowded when you go. I love all the train decorations in it.

Only been here once, but was the fastest breakfast place I have ever been to. I walked in and about 25 minutes later walked out with a full stomach. They are very efficient getting people in and out, but they do not hurry you. On top of it being fast the quality of the food was fantastic. I recommend that you at least give it the old college try.

We are reg customers and usually love this place. Don’t understand how they ask how if everything was ok but yet do nothing about it. Found a black hair on the bottom of my plate and still had me pay did nothing but said sorry. Had the stuffed blueberry french toast. The lady at the register took my number and said she’d pass the information on to the owner Chris and she’d call me. This was over 3 weeks ago… Haven’t heard back from anyone. Now I’m totally turned off by this place. I guess they have enough business and don’t care.

Love this place. It used to be our regular breakfast spot when we lived in the area. Best biscuits and gravy in the area. Good food. Good menu selections. Reasonable prices. Short wait times. Pleasant staff. You'll like it.

The coffee is good

I actually give them 25 stars! The food was fantastic and BIG! Everything was so fresh and delicious. The wait staff was friendly and fun. The restaurant was very clean and the waiters washed their hands after carrying off the dirty plates. You know a place has to be good by the large number of local regulars that come in. All are on first name basis and lots of hugs were given.

We’ve eaten here many times and it’s always amazing food and service! Food always tastes fresh and comes out so quickly. Kelley our server was lovely and we can’t wait to come back to see her!! Also the hostess was so welcoming and friendly. Her name is Joanna and she has an amazing personality that just makes you want to keep coming back!

Stopped for Breakfast, it was our first time here. Super friendly staff. My husband got the 2 eggs, ham off the bone hash browns and a pancake. I got a full order of Biscuits and gravy and we split. Everything was delicious, especially the Ham! We also had Bloody Mary, spicy but good!!

Went here for lunch with my son and we loved it! They were busy for a Wednesday atound lunch, but we were still able to get in a get a table right away. From the moment we walked in the entire staff was super friendly and had a great up beat energy to them. The train theme they have throughout is great and something to see for sure. The food we had was excellent and good portions for the money. I personally ordered the apple bread gouda club sandwich and... it was delicious! A great balance of sweet, salty, and cheesy. 👍👍I would definitely recommend eating here and will be going here again in the future. Thanks Whistle Stop, for the great food and service!

Probably a great place if you like breakfast cocktails or trains but our expectations were not met. The staff was not well informed on the menu, they made us feel very rushed and the food lacked any sort of seasoning whatsoever. The prices were ok but that's where the compliments stop. I would not eat here again if someone else was buying.

Brunch here has become a favorite for our family. The staff are very fast and efficient in getting orders out to customers. The service in general is very good with someone checking in on us frequently. The food and coffee is also delicious - we always end up having some leftovers to take home since the portions are so big!

Have tried many items from both breakfast and lunch menus and food is delicious. Kitchen is extremely fast so even if there is a long line to get in, the wait is not long. Most servers are great only one young lady is overly friendly and can make some people uncomfortable. So busy that items may run out early in the day, especially soup and pies.

Had a very nice breakfast. Eggs were fresh and cooked right. Sausage had good flavor but was overcooked. On the fence with the bacon, it was greasy and would pass on the banana bread french toast. Coffee was delicious but was not a fan of the coffee cups. Personal preference to like coffee in a mug that is easier to handle and stays hot. Spectacular waitress. Table top needs to be retired. Even with the negative comments I will go back, sit at a different table, order something different from a lovely waitress and enjoy a meal. It's a happy place

Holy wow! I did not want to like this place but it really exceeded expectations! Every employee I encountered was extremely friendly and welcoming. Everywhere is more and more expensive nowadays and I would take a star off for pricing but the quality and quantity absolutely make up for it -- well done and will be back! (Prices are less than listed on Google but more than old menu pics)

We love this place! A great breakfast spot for the family. When they get busy the wait times can be a little longer but the wait staff is always amazing and friendly. The biscuits and gravy are phenomenal, and the kids love the pancakes with the whip cream. The lunch food items are great as well, love the gyros. The portions are a good size for the price.

Whistle Stop is an great breakfast/ lunch dinner. The staff is welcoming, friendly and fun. The service is so fast its like the food is on the table before you finished ordering! It's hot fresh and so good. Highly recommended.

We were looking for a good breakfast place and picked this restaurant at random. So glad we did! Loved everything about it! The quaint feel, the super friendly & attentive staff, and the food was fantastic! Huge portions! If you leave hungry, it is your own fault!

I ate at the Whistle Stop Café for the first time a couple of days ago, and was very happy with my food. I ordered one of the specials (listed on the board in front of you as you enter) and it was great - eggs, bacon, and red velvet pancakes with strawberries. I finished it all, but couldn't eat any more - the perfect amount! We also got a carafe of apple juice to share, and both kids and my wife were all happy with their meals. No complaints, and they were busy when we were there, but we didn't have to wait long for our food at all. Recommended!

Delicious food, comfy atmosphere and excellent service. Food portions were just right for the price, always has different specials. Worth the trip, and very fitting name for being near a rail road!

Food is good and the staff is always friendly. Although, hash browns tend to be undercooked and eggs may be as well. Also they will charge a lot for coffee under the assumption that you will get refills, so be sure to get your money's worth on that! Would recommend trying it, it has a great local charm.

The food was AWESOME! Diane was amazing. We had a party of seven with a lot of special orders and she didn't miss a thing. She made sure we always had everything we needed, checked on us regularly, and I never had an empty coffee cup. A+++

Cute local diner. I would recommend their breakfast and lunch. Although they now serve dinner too. They have large portions and will make substitutions for dietary needs without a fuss. Ex. No toast (gluten) for something else. Their servers and staff have all been really great! Very homie welcoming vibe. Cute train theme decor (the kiddos love it)!

Fastest ever had breakfast served. The food was incredibly delicious. I live in Crystal lake and would not hesitate to head up to Fox Lake on a Saturday or Sunday morning for breakfast. Awesome.

Our server was Gabe. She was very attentive and helpful. We ordered dessert. The coconut cream pie was excellent. The restaurant is adorable.

Love coming here, food is amazing and staff is always friendly and accommodating. I make it a habit to stop in at least once a week. Whether it’s pancakes and hash-browns, the skillets, burgers, BLT, or their crispy chicken salad with homemade dressing, they never disappoint. Recently stopped in and had Gabe as my server, she was fantastic.

Diane was exceptional. She was a very polite server and helped me make a good choice of what to get. She was always checking on us and made sure we were taken care of. Definitely will be coming back because she made my experience one of the best I've had at a restaurant.

We’ve been to The Whistle Stop Cafe a handful of times. We’ve been there for breakfast, lunch and dinner and are always pleased. You get plenty to eat and we usually end up taking some of our food home. The service and food are good! Kelly and Joanna were very accommodating tonight.

A varied menu from the usual breakfast fare. I had the churro waffle. If you like cinnamon then this dish is for you. Tried other items from group I was with and everything was top notch. Our server Diane went so far as to ask how I like bacon cooked. Crispy or regular. That kind of detail is what is lacking in most restaurants

Good place, hasbrowns on the lighter side. Guess should have asked for them we'll done. They used the shredded kind. Pancakes were great sevice was good. Place was nice and clean, with lots of toy trains around. Would eat there again.
