AMAZING!!!.....what a beautiful setting for a pub. Inside is beautiful and quaint but with modern twists. Staff are friendly, welcoming and helpful and the food is to die for. If you go try the truffle chips, I've never tasted anything like them. After eating them all other chips are rubbish compared to them.....I think you can book rooms there as well, that would be a great location to stay at right next to the river. Try The Riverside Pub I'm convinced you will not be disappointed.

This place is TREMENDOUS! Having recently moved to the area we took my elderly father out for a meal. Super attentive staff, great beer and food to die for…. The pork dish I had was one of the best dishes I’ve had for years (and I’ve been to quite a few Michelin restaurants!)

What a fantastic place. Visited for a two night stay. George and all of the team were absolutely great. The room was brilliant and the food (breakfast, dinner and Sunday lunch) absolutely fantastic. Location and atmosphere were amazing too. Thoroughly recommend.

Been reminiscing about my favourite meal ever and felt the need to review this restaurant. As a kid we visited here every couple of years and 2 years ago I brought my partner to experience in my opinion the best steak ever. We were not disappointed!! Fantastic food, fantastic service. We live over 5 hours away now but I would drive that distance just to enjoy the amazing food. Thank you Riverside Inn for staying in my mind all these years later!

Wow! You must go here. We live in Hereford and drive past all the time but have never actually been in. We thought we would give it a try and we find all aspects to be superb. We arrived quite early so thought we would go for a walk nearby. We bumped into someone who works at the pub and he showed us a great little path up behind the pub. The views were fab. The water in the river is so clear! The accomodation looked lovely. When we went into the pub, we received a very warm welcome. The decor is amazing, very well thought out. The pub has a really great ambience and the building itself is incredible. We sat by a beautiful wood burner while drinks were brought and we perused the menu. The service was exceptional. Staff were attentive without being in your face, knowledgeable about the menu and produce, and I was surprised by how quickly the food arrived. The starter, cheese dumpling, (which my husband ordered but I tried!!) was simply amazing. The bread, baked in house, was delicious and the butter was gorgeous. I'm not sure I can do the starter justice as there were so many complex flavours. It was an exceptionally well thought out dish. Husband had a steak sandwich and I had cod. Both exquisite. I actually gasped when I tried the sauce! Thank you to the chef - your expertise is appreciated !! The cod just flaked away at the touch of my fork and the sauce had such a wide range of flavours. The vegetables that accompanied it were amazing. The potatoes were sinfully delicious - I tried not to think about the calories!! We both thought it was very good value for money and actually would have paid more. Well done to all that staff - the service was truly exceptional. We will definitely be back. Can't wait to visit in the warm summer months. We feel very lucky to have this on our doorstep.

From the road this building does not look exceptional. Once inside it is completely outstanding. It has many little rooms leading from the two entrances through the main bars to the restaurant areas giving the atmosphere of the hotel and restaurant a very personal feeling. Service by all the staff is completely outstanding. They all try hard to be helpful without being intrusive. The food is up to Michelin standard and you get a decent meal not a decorated plate! The chef said he’s not interested in having any Michelin recognition because his customers know what they want and he gives them what they want, it is a virtue a circle. The bedrooms are comfortable, clean and quiet with all facilities. I will certainly be returning and taking friends and family with me. Thank you George, Maya, Donna and Andy for a wonderful stay. Had a great weekend away. The food and service were spot in. George and staff were super friendly and the atmosphere was relaxed. There is a great breakfast as well. Excellent truffle chips, trout, parsnips, snails, quince (not together though!). Take a walk to the top for a good view or go over the bridge and take either the right footpath or left country lane for some beautiful scenery.

Gorgeous food and excellent service. We had the chicken and the steak and it was worth every penny and more. The children had fish and chips, it was so fresh they cleared their plates in no time. We will definitely return if we are ever in the area again 5*

Absolutely immaculate! The food, sourced locally, even from their own kitchen garden, was some of the best we’ve ever had, proper British cooking in the heart of the country side. We were both blown away, and rather full too! Cannot praise this place enough, and will so be heading back as soon as we can! Lovely warm atmosphere too, Thankyou very much!

There is absolutely nothing to dislike about the experience. Service/food/drinks/ interiors all of a very high standard. Staff are amongst the best I've ever been attended, to, by, ( this is getting silly) I quite see why it copping all the 'right on' plaudits at the moment; plea, the rural Herefordshire particularly must be retained we live here, not just do a 'weekend'. But it's a business so all are made are welcome to enjoy this great experience... Why not 5 stars? Personal, a touch too much garlic in the truffle chips, yup just that, nowt else.

Honestly, one of the best meals I've ever had in my life. Absolutely stunning. The only reason for leaving 4 stars is both the cucumber and courgette starter was outrageously tiny. £9 for a spaced out plate of sliced courgette, I think there could have been some bread with it. Gorgeous place, though.

Visited during floods, this place hasn't been affected for years. The cellar had been flooded and everyone was hands on when we arrived even the superb chef. An unpretentious place, cosy, homely and staff very much a team. Lovely rooms, nothing too much trouble. Must try the blue cheese ice-cream! divine! Well done all staff. Thank you. Visited again in September, very well organised, food still excellent, shame about the blue cheese ice cream not on menu☹️but you love it or hate it!❤️

The Riverside Inn....... absolutely excellent, from walking in, to being served and enjoying every forkful of the delicious food that arrived on our table. I booked our table my girlfriends 60th birthday celebration dinner. We had the cured trout & pork terrine, respectively, for our starters, accompanied by freshly baked onion loaf, so good. The starters were followed by the equally impressive duo of beef, exquisite. At the end of our memorable meal came the gesture that sealed a wonderful evening, a slice of chocolate ganache topped with a candle!!!! The whole evening, food, service, ambience was the best. Thank you 👍 😀

A lovely lunch here whilst visiting the area. Booking a table easy online or over the phone; staff very friendly and attentive on arrival. A drink in the bar before being seated passed the time when we arrived a little early! Dog friendly table provided and made to feel very welcome. Food was excellent and reasonably priced. Well worth a visit!

We've just been for our 5th, or maybe even 6th, Sunday lunch at The Riverside - as always it was excellent! The veg were cooked to perfection, ditto the chicken and the beef, and the service was first class. You're an hour's drive away from home, but we'll be back! Thank you.

What a first-class experience. Thank you so much to George and all the staff at the Riverside for making my husband’s birthday meal such an enjoyable and relaxing occasion. There were 16 adults, a toddler and two dogs along with multiple different dietary requirements and nothing was too much trouble. From booking the table right through to the ease of settling such a complicated bill, all the diners were very happy. I will be recommending the Riverside to anyone who’ll listen!

Went there last night for the most wonderful Valentines Meal and everything about the Riverside is exceptional. The staff are so courteous and welcoming, with the most engaging, professional table service, and the food is truly first class. The Valentines menu was a multi-course taster menu and each course was lovingly prepared and beautifully presented. The flavours were superb and the beef course was simply the finest (extra-thick) fillet of steak I have had in many years ... succulent, flavoursome and 'melt-in the mouth' tender. Our finest complements to the exceptional chef. We always love going to the Riverside as it never fails to impress and satisfy.

Went for dinner and ordered a duck starter and a tiny piece of meat arrived covered in gravy streaks. 20 seconds later it was all over and then 10 flies turned up. I know the starter was meager but did we need the extra protein? Anyways the lion was way better. IMHO. Don't know about the rooms. Staff were okay. Great beer.

Visited for a meal on 3rd January and wow. A warm and friendly welcome when we arrived, the people serving are an amazing asset to the Riverside. The food was wonderful, we had the scallops with the duck to follow. Everything cooked to perfection and the flavours in both dishes and the sides were fantastic. Highly recommended and would definitely visit again.

We ate there as a group of eight on a Friday evening. Very nicely laid out place with a great interior and tasteful decor. Waiting staff were all really nice and attentive and knew the menu inside out. Myself and my partner were really happy to see they had a vegetarian/vegan option for main and starter and also three other plant based options on request. They happily veganised some side vegatable options we ordered for the group table and nothing was made to feel like an extra chore. Everyone else was happy with their meat dishes so thumbs up all round. Portions were very generous and all the food was local fresh and very delicious. Top marks and many thanks. Would definitely recommend and return again if in the area in the future.

We booked for a late Sunday lunch after visiting NT Croft Castle. Friendly helpful staff. The food was excellent and each course was great. If I was being picky the roast beef wasn't quite as tender as it could have been and a sharper knife may have been useful. The Yorkshire Pudding was perfect. My partner said the roast chicken was perfectly cooked but she did find the roast potatoes a little too crispy for her liking. Deserts were excellent as we're the two ciders we had. Thank you for making our anniversary that little bit special.

Delicious food - really interesting and refreshing gazpacho, snails were crunchy but a bit overdone. Steak was excellent although I made the mistake of ordering it medium, and I should have asked for it rare. The ambiance is simple and nuch appreciated for it - no adverts or horrible music - just great food beautifully presented.

We found this place by chance as the place I intended to book was unavailable for both nights we wanted to stay. That was fortunate indeed! The Riverside is quite excellent, and the food was amazing. I notice many of the poorer reviews are from some time ago. I can only say that the present staff and management are doing a great job. They have many awards on display in the dinning room, dated from the last couple of years, and they are in my opinion fully deserved. I found the location charming and, as it's name would suggest, there is a nice flowing stretch of river nearby. The location and view are wonderful. We had a room looking across to the tree topped hills, and could also see the flowing river. The food is first rate. The portions are good, and the quality is outstanding. The staff were friendly and attentive. The service was excellent. The prices may seem expensive but I would say you are getting good value. I've paid a lot more for a lot lesser quality in the past! The only minor criticism, is that the rooms are perhaps in need of decorating. There are a few minor scuffs and marks (particularly in our bathroom), but the room and bathroom were most certainly clean and well looked after by the cleaning staff. My apologies for the long review, but it is so nice to be able to speak so positively about a place. I would highly recommend.

We had the most incredible Sunday lunch here. It blew our expectations for a pleasant meal out of the water. Everything so lovingly and beautifully presented, and we could really tell how much care and pride is taken by the staff. The flavours were really quite incredible. Any small queries or issues we had were immediately dealt with and solved with style. We sat in the garden surrounded by lupin flowers and other beautiful greenery. Absolute gem of a place and I’m almost reluctant to review it but it was too wonderful not to.

Very much enjoyed a three night stay here - beautiful old pub in a lovely setting with gardens and walks to explore on the doorstep. Thanks for a great stay - we look forward to returning in the future!

Overall great value for money and would highly recommend a visit to this little gem 👍

Fantastic meal on a Saturday lunchtime. Great wine list. Our party had homemade bread and oil to start then a mixture of Duck, Pork Belly and Hake for mains with complimentary veg on the side. The duck was beautiful cooked. The Pork was superb and was a very generous portion. The Hake was cooked to perfection. Complimentary homemade fudge was served with puddings and coffee. One of our party had a gluten intolerance and this was easily catered for. This is a great venue, a real treasure so make sure you pay them a visit.

Just an amazing inn, one of our favourite places. Dog friendly as well and such good food... all the small details work and have clearly been thought out thoroughly. We've been maybe 4 or 5 times to stay and eat, and it is our treat place. Thank you to the staff and owners as it always feels special.

This has fast become my family's favourite place to celebrate special occasions. It's expensive, but I'd rather go there once a year than to a cheaper place twice. It's exciting to see what the seasonal, locally-sourced menu has on offer, and the chefs never disappoint. The last time we went, the head chef was actually away, but you really couldn't tell. The environment has a nice ambience and the staff are friendly and attentive. I learned this time that they even stock non-alcoholic cider, which was a nice surprise. I honestly can't think of any reasonable constructive criticisms.

Had an absolutely fabulous one night stay here to celebrate our wedding anniversary and my husband's birthday. Can not fault a single thing. We stayed in a garden Suite which was wonderfully clean, had a great decking area that we managed to enjoy for an hour before it rained! The Inn had left a bottle of Prosecco in our room as it was our anniversary. The dinner was incredible (my husband still talks about the steak!) and the service was outstanding. A fabulous stay and we will definitely be back!

We dropped in early in the evening but without a reservation and were initially met with the somewhat disappointing news that they were full; but ... ‘if we could wait a minute they would see if they could find a table’. We were hopeful, despite the challenges of operating the restaurant in a Covid-19 limited way, the Riverside has a great atmosphere so when we were offered a table we were thrilled. With no prior knowledge of the Riverside our excitement could have been premature but it was not; the Pub excelled with truly exquisite food and service to match. They provided a number of choices on request for my wife’s, who is vegan and after a truly memorable experience we booked for a return tomorrow. This is a hidden gem with a delightful menu and an equally enticing wine list - it is without question one to revisit.

We went for a family birthday Sunday lunch and were left rather underwhelmed. Given the prices (£8 for a starter/pudding, £18/19 for a roast dinner) and the reviews we were expecting perfection, however the vegetables were rather bland and the carrots overcooked, and the roast potatoes were clearly the last of the day as they were really hard. We mentioned this to the waiter and just got a "sorry about that". We were also charged for 2 replacement drinks when my son accidently knocked them over which wasn't particularly generous, especially when a glass of coke is £2.40. Maybe it was an off day at the Riverside but we've certainly had better meals locally which were of a similar price or cheaper.
