Beautifully simplistic menu with a great selection of plonk. Went with my partner for date night. We had a charcuterie board too but devoured it before we could take a photo. The Truffle Saucisson is still talked about 3 weeks later.

Small restaurant but food is packed with fantastic flavours. Great wine too! I opted for the lunch offer of 2 courses for £13.50 which is incredibly great value considering how top notch the food was! Special thanks to George the chef who talked me through the menu and thank you Conor who recommended a fantastic wine was paired with my chicken dish perfectly!

A wonderful dining experience in a cosy Bistro.Wonderful welcoming front of house and very knowledgable chef that has created a fabulous menu with small plates aswell as main dishes. I would highly recommend this venue as both a lunchtime and dinner venue.

A charming french style bistro on the popular Palmerston Rd in central Southsea, a small but high quality selection of food, very good and highly accessible wine list, with house wine from £17 a bottle! The team who work here are really approachable and friendly, I would highly recommended this place for friends wanting wine and nibbles, or a romantic couple after a niche 2/3course dinner with some good wine.

What a lovely addition to Southsea’s food offerings. It’s nice to find a place to eat solo and feel super comfortable. Cosy and warm vibe, friendly staff. Good menu of French classics, well priced and of course a good slosh of wine to wash it down with. Camembert and moules were fab. No rush for me to leave. All very chilled. Will be back!

Highly recommended… Great chef – the Entrecôte was excellent, ditto les frites, and his Café de Paris butter superb! Definitely my new favourite diner!

Me and 3 girlfriends had a fabulous lunch here, we had lots of starters to share and each had the steak for mains, it was all absolutely delicious. Prior to our meal we advised that I had some allergies, on arrival Karen (front of house) talked me through the menu and explained all the options and how they could accommodate me. It was brilliant service and the food and drink was incredible. We would definitely recommend!

On my walks I often pass Montrouge saying to myself 'I must try there one day'. Finally I booked. I believe that they have only started serving Sunday Lunch for the past four weeks and already are proving popular! There is a lovely feel to the restaurant and tables laid beautifully. I ordered the beef brisket and my goodness was it good!!! Perfect homemade roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding, very nice gratin and liked to see red cabbage on there as we normally only have this for Christmas. Carrots and peas fresh and I don't consider it a roast without them. I was offered a small glass of the house red (Merlot) to taste and it was very drinkable and paired well with the brisket. I was told that their wine comes from Camber Wines (situated in Old Portsmouth upstairs of Abarbistro). Service excellent and I hope to return again soon. Overall the best roast to date I have had the pleasure of trying in Southsea!

Just had dinner at Montrouge. Outstanding, simple bistro menu executed to perfection. Great wine list, friendly and welcoming staff but the star of the show ..... Entrecote and Frites - WOW 👌 Great work from the Montrouge team, thank you.

The food is fantastic, a small menu means everything is done perfectly. Paired with brilliant service, Montrouge is an outstanding addition to the road!

I loved it! Lovely atmosphere, delightful sumptuous meal with elegance & flair, everything tasted so fresh and the meal was served lovely and hot! The service was impeccable, Karen went above and beyond for us. Oh my ...so glad I chose the duck with the red cabbage & fried potatoes to start & the delicious chocolate torte for afters! Compliments to the chef. It was an exquisite experience and for me is now my favourite Southsea restaurant.

Finally got to visit this restaurant on Saturday night and I can’t tell you how impressed I was with the food, atmosphere and service. Having lived in France for two years, authentic French food is one of my favourites. If I closed my eyes, I could have been back in Antibes many years ago! Definately going back to eat here again - very soon!

Has become a defacto meeting place. Limited selection of draft beer but a great selection of everything else. Food is prepared, cooked and presented by staff that enjoy what they do and it is apparent at every stage. Limited parking but on the plus side means no car and an extended visit.

I was recommended to try this lovely little restaurant and I was not disappointed. The lunch menu was wonderful with a simple range of good choices that catered for gf, vegetarian and meat eaters! All extremely appetising. I had the montrogue starter for a sharing starter, followed by entrecote steak and the most wonderful cherry chocolate dessert (too good for children and definitely adults only!) All enjoyed with a bottle of their Cotes du Rhone - 6 out of 5 every day!

At the end of a street of burger bars and pizza places is this unassuming French restaurant. The food was excellent, as was the service, and all at a reasonable price
