The beach is shingles with lots of interesting vegetation, be mindful of both flora and fauna as it is a site of special scientific importance and a nature reserve. There are a few places to eat and drink, lots of outside seating. There is also a place that sells bait and it seems very popular for fishing. There are also lots of old wrecked ships and rusted equipment.

An amazing place, is it a stony desert ? Wide open areas of shingle, dotted with sea kale, a strange mix of buildings, cottages made from railway carriages, designer houses, Derek Jarmans house and garden, a decommissioned nuclear power station, and a couple of light houses, they all fit in with the landscape. There is a small fleet of beach launched fishing boats. The Brittania pub, and the Pilot offer food and drink, and the railway terminal also has a cafe. The area attracts bird watchers and fishermen, sightseers, and holiday makers, but the joy of it is that is rarely overrun with visitors. Simply a place to return to time and time again, there is always something new to experience.

A wonderful, strange place. Desolate but well populated with the Hulk of the atomic power station dominating all. A bleak place so try to avoid visiting in wet or windy conditions.

Not a beach for a family, you can fish here possible or get photographs. Do not swim here as well very dangerous and will most likely die. Keep warm and stay safe by this beach don’t go in the water as there is also a nearby nuclear power station about 200 meters away (roughly).

Super atmosphere, a must see as far as I'm concerned. We went on a slightly windy day at the start of September and the whole place looked bleak, like we walked into a Ken Loach film. Huge shingle beach that is scattered with old fishing boats. The landscape is smattered with strangely constructed huts that give the place even more of an eerie feel. A beautiful view from the old lighthouse lets you see the feeling of desolation in the landscape. Loved this place.

A desolate place with great views out across the channel. You can see seals and dolphins occasionally and fishing is fair. In the shadow of the nuclear power plant with what looks like small sheds for people that just seem to be escaping from something. Trips on the Dymchurch railway stop here so you get occasional floods of visitors sitting on each other even though there's miles of beach.

Amazing scenery and peaceful atmosphere to spend a day with your family, grab a picnic or have some food from local cafes. Very relaxing place to go.

Once known as the only desert in the UK but no longer classed as a desert I understand, due to an over zealous met office busybody. But it's an amazing place - a wilderness not seen often in an overcrowded Southern England. The buildings and landscape are reminiscent of Port Stanley in the Falkland Islands, with small wooden fishing huts and cottages dotted around. Definitely worth a visit!

Britain's only desert is definitely somewhere worthy of a visit, as you'll spot something different each visit. Be aware though that the wind can whip across the beach on a breezy day, so certainly worth bringing a coat just incase.

We came down here so my son and me could get some shots of the milky way as it does get lovely and dark and not to much light pollution

Not really a beach for kids. Mostly pebbles no sand and dangerous steep pebble banks down to the water. Very popular with sea fishing folks. Lots of old boat wrecks make for nice photos. Also popular place for bird photographers ans a few bird hides here.

Long walk, dunes are steep, pebbles, quiet area, thrashing waves. Pretty.

Maybe it's the vast pebbly beach, maybe it's the power station right there but for me it's one of the most peaceful places anywhere, keep going back and enjoy the sea, the stones, the flowers.
