Nice YHA with an extensive kitchen, would be nice if they provided cooking oil as this is something you don't want to travel with in case of spills. Room was clean bath rooms were okay considering they had no windows. Staff very friendly and helpful when there was an issue and happy to help with questions and advice.

Wow what a location! So central right by the 'love lock' Bridge. Staff who checked us in lovely and welcoming. Rooms basic but clean with an amazing view. Bathroom could've been cleaner but it was OK. Please put some hooks or shelves in the shower for clothes.

One of the nicest youth hostels I’ve ever stayed in. Excellent location, right in the heart of Bristol. Walking distance to the M Shed and other museums. There is lots to do in the wider Bristol City. There is a lovely café downstairs which opens late and serves all of the food you will need. There is also a self catering kitchen if you want to travel cheaply. This is a cosmopolitan environment with people from all over the world who want to see what the city has to offer. The staff have all been very helpful whenever I have had a question for them despite the fact that they have been very busy. I feel quite safe and welcome here and I would love to stay for a little while longer!

Great location, comfortable beds and a good ambience. But on my visit I was let down by a radiator that needed bleeding - staff couldn't find a suitable key; and popping in to the self catering kitchen I found it very messy. Spills in the floor had not been cleaned up, and washing up was left in sinks. I suspect some long term residents treating it too much like home and not considering other guests. Bristol is a 'laid back' City compared with other places, but it is a shame if the usual YHA high standards are compromised just to 'fit in' with local culture.

Does exactly what a hostel should – it is a good place to stay to explore the city. The rooms are small but the beds comfortable and there no issues with cleanliness. The wifi didn't work in all rooms though. Very quiet.

Loved my stay at this hostel! Super cheap and close to the town center. Rooms were good, nice kitchen and good hospitality. Although the bathrooms were always missing toilet paper and the showers are so small that anything you bring in there will be soaked! Hot tip is to put your clothes in a plastic bag for that ;)

Very basic as you would expect but very clean and the staff(Alex) were lovely. We took our 10 year old and got a private room for four. Great value for money. Will be coming back as this time was for a hospital visit, but due to great location we now want to stay for longer. A bit noisy due to single glazing and on a busy road, so ear plugs might be useful.

The location is just perfect ( 15 min walk from the main railway station but right in the heart of the city centre). Our room of 4 beds had the view of the river, didnt feel like it was a budget hostel at all. The Bed, sheets and covers etc. everything was clean. Our bathroom however was neither clear nor did the flush work. And even though it was exclusively for our room, other people conveniently kept it occupied since it was in the main corridor. Otherwise, there is a kitchen and dining area with loads of utensils and basic supplies if one wants to prepare their own breakfast. Overall, the hostel is recommended!

While the location is excellent and the beds are incredibly comfortable, I found it exceedingly difficult to sleep due to the bright, neon green safety light which does not shut off at any time through the night. I believe this hostel would benefit greatly from dimming the light and/or switching it to red, which has a lesser effect on night vision and melatonin production. Furthermore, the door to the washroom nearest to my room does not lock properly, and the USB charger next to my bed does not work. This hostel has great potential, but these issues prevent me from rating it highly.

A very tidy and affordable hostel right in the middle of Bristol, a literal stonesthrow from a handful of great attractions, pubs, and restaurants. My room was small and scarcely equipped, only including a sink and the bunks, with not even a chair or stool to sit on while you put your shoes on or any coat hooks. There were lockable roll-out cages under the beds for your possessions. The communal shower on my floor was quite frankly tragic, with barely any water pressure (at least it was hot), but had no shelves or hooks to hang anything on, forcing you to leave your belongings on the floor. The staff were friendly and helpful, offering advice for things to do in the city and giving directions to nearby amenities, and the lobby/hangout area is classy and well kept. The breakfast is also good value, offering an all you can eat cooked buffet (with vegetarian options) for £9.95. A good hostel for a short stay in Bristol, but definitely needs some small improvements.

Everything was great about this place! So conveniently located next to the waterfront and dining area. The bus to the airport stops across the street. Had a perfect stay. The receptionist was nice and welcoming, great service, and a reasonable price.

Excellent location, full use of kitchen, comfortable dorm style room and beds, decent private shower and bathroom. My wife and I were booked to a four-bed room, so we had the place to ourselves. Overall good stay!

I can't stress how good value this place is but to see this outside your bedroom window is rather off putting. I've used this place a couple times and service and cost is always spot on, on this occasion seeing a used needle and cooking tray outside the window where I was sleeping left me feeling like I won't be returning.

Prices for hotels in the area were through the roof, looking at minimum £150 for one night. NO THANKS!! Booked here instead, in a solo room (sharing bathroom) and it was only £30! Room was clean, basic, just what you need for a quick stop over and a warm bed. Also the location couldn't get any better. In the summer here will be an awesome to stay, right on the harbour nestled between the bars. Good welcome on reception, lots of hustle and bustle in the lobby, which is also a nice spot to grab a coffee, pizza or a drink. Wash facilities and bathrooms were clean. Felt safe, I'll definitely use this as an option again.

Nice place to stay in. Benefited from the luggage storage room after checkout, which was marvelous. YHA in London is much more comfortable, but I liked the stay and the location anyway.

Very central location, very close to nightlife. Its a high transit hostel so is rough looking in places not down stairs just once you get to the rooms. Shared dorms at front of building towards the nightlife. (Businesss get quiet around 2am) Shared dorms have people leaving at 4am each day or arriving at 1am or arriving and departing at 1am. So if you want rest or to sleep go for a private room or stay somewhere else. Rooms are very small, theres as many beds in each as possible, each bed has a lockable box underneith. Beds left unstripped and unchanged when people depart, one out of three beds were made after people left so a new person could come in. 'Cleaning' in rooms amounts to changing bed, emptying bin, hoovering floor. Neither the bin or bedroom floor were hoovered the entire time i stayed. Shower/toilet rooms dont feel very private as they have a circle misted window to the landings and people trying the door while you use them. Shower doors covered in black mold. My designated bed was occupied the first night i arrived so i was moved rooms and then needed to move again the following morning for the rest of my stay. No accomodation made for that in the AM despite it being offered by desk staff and me asking for an hour to sort myself out, shower and repack due to disabilities. Housekeeping started telling me i needed to not be there at 10:10 she 'cleaned' an entire floor in half hour and was banging on the door again 10:45, despite me explaining i was staying for several days and needed abit of extra time on the first day to sort myself and budget my energy and increase pain levels for repacking, moving rooms. (Ruining my first day in Bristol) Shared kitchen has new appliance waiting to be fitted (note days delivered in August), there are more appliances than sockets, you have to lift stools down from bench every meal time. There were no stickers for food until the last day of my stay. Fire alarm went off at 7:45am on the last day of my stay. Enjoyed the city. Stay was pretty ruined by hostel experiences.

Can't knock this place, great location right by the docks room basic but clean, showers not great. The people working there were really helpful and friendly

Can't speak for the rooms, but the coffee is terrible, very burnt tasting, and the food is pretty basic but expensive. Definitely go somewhere else nearby to eat.

BEWARE!! I regret staying here as I lost my stuff from room , and was my mistake as I didn’t care to lock it. So I recommend to carry chain lock for suitcases and spare locks to secure all tiny little stuffs into the under bed lock cage. Wifi not available in rooms. Room heater was working well. Self service Kitchen was helpful. Bathroom were average.

Helpful staff and the rooms were clean and had everything needed. Breakfast was a bit strange and could have been better. Location is great for venturing into the lively city

Had the worst stay ever. We had a broken flush. They could not sort the issue nor give us another room. They were neither ready to compensate for the issue. Had poor facility management. WIFI sucks. Would never recommend to anyone

Incredible location right on the river. Rooms were clean with lovely bar area. The service as really good, with Olly being very knowledgeable about the area. Also a really nice bar with some unique beers. Would highly recommend.

Nice location as the hostel just faces the port. Many bars and restaurants nearby though it's quite calm! The only negative thing is the showers: some weren't properly working, most of them are not practical (no or not enough clothes hangers so your clothes lay on the ground and they are getting wet and dirty because the shower head is too messy)

Location ideal as right next to the Arnolfini and opposite the horned bridge Upon arrival, I had a warm greeting from the young lady at the reception There is plenty of seating in the reception/lounge area. With a small coffee bar area which also sold hot and cold drinks, and light snacks The coffee was delicious, but I didn't try the cakes Also a menu for light meals There is a vending machine through another door so snacks and drinks are available all night The 4 dorm room was comfortable and warm, but only seemed to have one toilet and shower room on the floor Maybe other rooms were ensuite or family rooms... The toilets and showroom were both clean and well maintained There is an area upstairs and breakfast and anyone wishing to cook for themselves Warm, welcoming and well laid out Only negative was on my visit the lift wasn't working. My room was on the 4th floor which meant 8 flights of stairs 😳 The doors are all key swabbed at night so I felt perfectly safe as a lone female traveller I would definitely use the hostel again, and their accommodation in other cities

Great location. Had pretty much everything you need. No common room but space in the cafe downstairs sufficed.

Incredible location, really quiet throughout the stay, staff really hospitable. The only drawback is that we were on the top floor and there was no lift - but the fact we booked 4 beds in a 5 room dorm and they gave us a private 4 room was more than worth it!

Bit strange that the chef was out at lunch when we turned up at 2pm!! Had to wait 3/4 of an hour to order. Other than that basic but good.

Quite noisy but visited on a weekend, clean and tidy. Smaller rooms available and good central location.

I stayed for one night in a shared en suite room. Just for one night, beginning of December, so my vision is limited. However, the hostel is perfectly located right in the center of Bristol. My room was clean Lovely atmosphere and it's quiet compared to others in the city. Good quality/price ratio!

Was really cute and clean. Very comfortable beds. 4/5 stars as an unauthorized drunk person managed to stumble his way onto the residents floor and also puked in the elevator. The situation was not handled very well

Affordable and decent. Couldn't sleep due to guest snoring like a 10ton lorry but luck of the draw. Should accommodate 1 guest per room until capacity to allow for most Pleasant experience

This is an excellent place to stay - I can't recommend it enough! Staff were friendly and rooms are clean! Great shower, good facilities and cafe area ec.

This isn’t a hostel, it’s a half way home for the homeless and downtrodden. It’s a school group place. An Alcoholics Anonymous meetup point. A retired divorcee drop in shelter. I asked the reception if the bar had anything on tonight and she asked why? I said, because it’s a hostel. The average age would be fifty. I kid you not.

Possibly one of the best places I've stayed at, the youth hostel is located on the quayside which makes a great view and near very nice locations, next time I go to Bristol, I'll be sure to stay here again and possibly stay for longer than 2 nights as there's so much to do here. I wish there was an option to go higher than 5 stars.

DO NOT BOOK a private room this summer, you will be stuck in the unbearably hot attic of the building with only a cheap floor fan for any comfort. DO NOT BOOK if you're hoping for a restful night's sleep (could not sleep for the music from nearby venues) or hoping for a lie in (10am is the absolute latest check out). DO NOT EXPECT a helpful/polite reception staff (despite booking a private room for three guests the receptionist decided to go on some weird power trip and refuse us an additional key card). It comes to something when your cleaning staff are more friendly than your front of house.

Hostel has the potential to be great due to location and size but unfortunately the experience was very inconsistent mainly a lack of consistent cleaning. Pro's: - Excellent location in central Bristol. only a few minutes walk from most of the main attractions of the city, only about a 15 min walk from the central train station. Can be a a little noisy in the evenings from the nightlife but that should be expected due to the location. - Large well equiped shared kitchen, good for those wanting to cook, shared spaces are also large and well equiped for big groups. - Bunk beds were solid and fairly comfortable, each bed had power outlet + light. - Good price Con's - Poor check-in experience. Room was not cleaned before we got there. Previous guests laundry was still there. While the front desk staff were quick to clean the room after we told them, it's pretty poor that you can be given a key to the rooms and it hasn't been checked over at all. Front desk staff simply said that "the cleaners have done a bad job lately" - When cleaning was done it was done well (I could tell the toilets were being cleaned 2x a day which was nice) but lots of times it seemed like the cleaning staff would leave with half a job done. Laundry and bags of rubbish were left in the hallway for almost a day, kitchen clearly wasn't being cleaned frequently, neither was the shower. - Laundry rooms wasn't available due to Covid (note: this is May 2022) not sure how that prevents covid. - No wifi in rooms - A fair bit of broken stuff around the hostel e.g. hand-driers, appliances in kitchen etc.

So I booked in here for 1 night as I had to rush to Bristol as my mother was rushed into Southmead hospital. Book in was simple, the staff were welcoming. We stored our luggage down stairs before leaving for the hospital. When re returned to check in, the room was spotless (301) the room was a decent size for me and my son who is autistic. The staff were amazing and really patient with him. The shower was a reasonable heat but could have been a tad hotter. The water pressure was really good. Clean sheets, comfortable bed. Plenty of sockets to charge phones and other devices. There was steel under bed roller cages to store your valuables. A pad lock is needed. I think you can rent them if you don’t have one but we had our own. There is the bar area to relax in as well as a mezzanine floor where you can relax. There was a decent selection of books on the mezzanine floor as well. There is also a fully equipped self catering kitchen and stores such as Tesco and Sainsbury’s near by to purchase cheep food. I will stay here again next time I’m in the city to see family.

It was awful. The place was really lonely. There weren’t other guests, and the last night, I shared the floor with a group of school kids who were visiting the city. There weren’t other young travelers and the hostel itself didn’t have a shared area to meet other people

  • 2/5 Clément R. 1 year ago on Google
The hostel is in a very good place near to a lot of buses and very close to downtown. The rooms are quite basic but OK, the showers are wierd with noting to put your clothes near. However the atmosphere was completely away, do not expect to socialize with others solo travelers during your stay. I met only kids, and their parents/responsibles i guess

Always had the best conversations with the cleaning staff while sobering up. Especially the lady with red hair and cartoon characters tattooed, she was an angel. Will definetly return.

Stayed here before going too the maddest gig I’ve ever been too SECTION 18-The rebel alliance at LAKOTA Bristol… There is no words too describe the antics that aspired that night… no complaints on accommodation… loved Bristol and proper Thatchers cider 🍺

Comfy beds and nice staff, but the hostel is not clean. Would not recommend. Lots of unnecessary and hence irksome little things that add up, like no shelves in shower. Elevator not working. A fire door not working and propped open. Plates not clean. Staircase heated but room cold. Could easily be so much better.

Value for money accommodation. It was easy to get to and also easy to check in and out. Sadly the lift wasn't working but another guest helped carry my unnecessarily heavy suitcase up to the 5th floor! The showers and toilets were OK and the rooms were spacious enough. Just be careful with the slanted roofing, as a couple of us hit our heads!! There's a nice area downstairs for coffee and doing work.

ok, so yeah rooms are clean, comfy beds but far to basic, bathrooms are just not fit for 2023, who has a bath! 🤣 just make them into wet room showers...with all that space they could be so much better. WiFi is the biggest nightmare, if it works at all you have to re sign in every 10-20 mins.... about time yha made a move into the 21st century....I've honestly stayed at more modern hostels in third world countries and they have WiFi that works. staff are lovely though and generally the entire place is clean and tidy, having no kitchen is a bit mad

One of the nicest hostels I've stayed in. The staff are lovely, the location is great and every was spotless during my visit. I'll definitely be returning should I need a room for the night
