This Weatherspoons is quite a bit different from the average 'spoons. Set in an old opera house, they have managed to keep so much of the original interior design and decor in place, making it incredibly eye catching. Be sure to visit the upper floors if they are open. The staff are friendly, and the food is good. Definitely the cheapest pint in Tunbridge Wells! Only thing to note, please go a bit easier on your poached eggs! Soft yolks are the best yolks! -- Update -- Ross and the rest of the staff were absolutely fantastic, letting us take over the private room upstairs during our wedding day when we needed some time to recuperate and enjoy some drinks with our families. We were even allowed to go on to the balcony to take some photographs. I can't thank you enough!

Wow what an impressive building from the front and stepping through the entrance it gets better but that still is not anywhere near as impressive as the main dining area. This has got to be the best pub I was visiting London for the week and just had to get on a train and visit just to experience this place and then back to London. I love how it literally feels like they did their last performance and the next day opened up as a wetherspoon pub. This place really is worth a long distance travel just to experience it I did and I loved it. Also the staff was friendly and helpful and the food was great. This place deserves more than the maximum 5 stars.

Absolutely stunning visually, great atmosphere, staff were lovely. Only problem was my scampi was cold when I got it, it was taken back and a new meal made which was okay.

Definitely worth checking out the maddest Wetherspoon location in U.K. Absolutely brilliant venue with a cool vibe. The place itself is five star however the food is a let down. Ordered the American cheese burger which arrived as a tiny dry tasting burger with a small amount of sauce on a plate with a few chips. Lacklustre.

A JDW in an old theatre on a promenade high street. Located in a jaw droppinglying beautiful interior as much of the old theatre is preserved, including the ornament ceiling and wall plastering and gold leaf. The centre of which hangs a 4 tier chandelier. There are many small balconies running up the sides and one can imagine couples there on a Friday and Saturday night out. The stalls (theatre sesting removed) and proscenium stage are filled with abundant seating. The upper circle still has the original seats in place. There is a small secluded seating area in the yard. The food was good hot and prompt to arrive. The staff were warm and welcoming. Without doubt the mist stunning JDW I've set foot in. Certainly a must go visit if in the area!

Worth a visit just to see the stunning interior. Otherwise it's just a Wetherspoons with the usual offerings - fairly priced drinks and pub classics menu. I didn't eat but the ale was in good form.

Got to be one of the most ornate Wetherspoons in the country. Be careful. You don't spill your beer looking up and around this place.

Food cold, mash potato smeared over plate to look bigger. Given this place so many chances with food and I'm afraid to day its getting worse each time we come

We stopped in for lunch, ordered Katsu curry, Nachos & cauliflower curry. Was pleasantly surprised & enjoyed it all thoroughly. Great value for money.

Chain pub with a nice decor providing a place for quick & cheap sit down food & drink within the town centre... The building was originally built as an opera house, opening in 1902 and becoming a cinema in 1931, it then made the transition into a bingo hall and then finally converted to a Wetherspoons pub... The atmosphere overall is nice and usually frequented by the local community, usually quite packed come lunchtime/evening (much like all Wetherspoons Inn general)... food ranges from pub grub, to burgers and pizzas which is altogether cheap and cheerful...

Sorry, but not more than two stars. We've been here exactly 10 years ago and the place was brilliant. Now we have been back in the area and gave it a try again. We had the beef burgers. Meet was slightly burnt, no sauce on the burger and the chips tasted boring. There was ketchup and mayo available at self service but I had to get up and find a person whom I could ask since the person delivering the food didn't tell us. She didn't even clean the extreme wet and sticky table and she did not remove the empty pint from the person sitting at the table before us. This is not acceptable even though the prices for the food offered are ok. Two stars for the opera atmosphere. Probably a great place two have a couple of pints with friends.

I was in Monday lunchtime. It was fairly quiet. I ordered on the app and received my drink within 5 minutes, and food within 10. I always order my steak medium as it seems to come medium rare (as it did today). Excellent service and good value food and drink. Amazing setting

What a beautiful building! Weatherspoons only appear to utilise the ground floor, which is a shame, so much potential here. The tables in the middle are crammed in with no obvious thoroughfare from the entrance to the stage. They seemed short on staff but the staff that were working were very polite and friendly. Food was the usual reliable weatherspoons quality. A nice touch, they have kept some of the original features like the counterweight and curtain levers. Over all, a nice place but improvements could be made.

Ordered from table, brought half the meal as multiple items were unavailable, then went to cook some alternatives all arrived cold, wasn't busy. My guest ordered vegan and got non vegan items, also cold worst spoons eating to date. I love the decoration of the building though

The Opera House in Tunbridge wells is now a J D Wetherspoons pub and it is one of the most elegant in the chain. It is a grade II listed building and occasionally still hosts operas. Lovely to have a meal in the splendor of an old Opera House all at Wetherspoons excellent value.

Beautiful location. Lovely atmosphere, quick service. First Spoons that I've nothing bad to say about... top notch!

What a fantastic place. The old opera house has been converted into a pub/cafe and entertainment centre. With the usual great Wetherspoon's prices and fast food and drinks service it is the cheapest, and in my opinion best place to go for food, coffee and an inspiring night out. Love this place.

A beautifully presented Wetherspoons with all the character of the old opera house and all the value of Wetherspoons. The service was friendly and quick and the food, was nicely presented and excellent value for money, it tasted great too.

Really not bad on the vegan breakfast and the coffee is always quiet alright :) refillable which is great, Only went here as my favourite spot is closed this week, but Friendly staff :) left feeling full and enjoyed the airport nostalgia I always get from weatherspoons.. You can’t tell the time of day ever… no natural light and always men drinking at 10:00 am 😹 a little twilight zone Forgot photos of the foood as I was too hungry to think but here’s some of the location Great service on New Year’s Day :) all hot and tasty food
